And this is 100% different than how the cloak was described. It was +4 AC, which if its a deflection modifier, it would get applied to my AC making my AC 18. It's odd... I feel like I'm now trying to defend and justify something that was described clearly during the session, was added into the forum under Campaign Details clearly, and has been used for 4 sessions or so now. Why are we all of a sudden changing it now? This is the first time the description of "AC bonus to projectiles" has EVER been mentioned. It would be one thing if it was something that was given to me. But I bought it based upon the stats you gave, and now it's no where near the cloak it was...

I don't accept this as canon. It was an interesting part of the campaign that I'm always going to remember despite any attempts to retcon it out of the timeline.

Also gonna agree with Mezlo here. As written on the Pathfinder wiki, deflection bonus doesn't appear to be specific to ranged attacks, it's just another category for things that add to armor class. You could get the same effect by just making the robe +whatever and then give it an additional bonus vs ranged attacks specifically.

lol, I just got Yyg'ed... I listed the definition because this is the first time you mentioned the +4 only applying to projectile weapons. The first time since i got the cloak. lol... if it was a deflection bonus, it would still apply to the whole AC, not just projectile weapons per Pathfinder rules. You're the DM though.

    Re: General Discussion

So with the cloak giving me a +4 deflection bonus AC, my AC is 18. 10 + 4 dex bonus + 4 defleciton bonus from the cloak.

    Armor Class
Your Armor Class (AC) represents how hard it is for opponents to land a solid, damaging blow on you. It's the attack roll result that an opponent needs to achieve to hit you.

Your AC is equal to the following:

10 + armor bonus + shield bonus + Dexterity modifier + other modifiers

Note that armor limits your Dexterity bonus, so if you're wearing armor, you might not be able to apply your whole Dexterity bonus to your AC (see Table: Armor and Shields).

Sometimes you can't use your Dexterity bonus (if you have one). If you can't react to a blow, you can't use your Dexterity bonus to AC. If you don't have a Dexterity bonus, your AC does not change.

    Other Modifiers
Many other factors modify your AC.

    Enhancement Bonuses
Enhancement bonuses apply to your armor to increase the armor bonus it provides.

    Deflection Bonus
Magical deflection effects ward off attacks and improve your AC.

    Natural Armor
If your race has a tough hide, scales, or thick skin you receive a bonus to your AC.

    Dodge Bonuses
Dodge bonuses represent actively avoiding blows. Any situation that denies you your Dexterity bonus also denies you dodge bonuses. (Wearing armor, however, does not limit these bonuses the way it limits a Dexterity bonus to AC.) Unlike most sorts of bonuses, dodge bonuses stack with each other.

    Size Modifier
You receive a bonus or penalty to your AC based on your size. See Table: Size Modifiers.

I abuse it? How is utilizing an allowed spell correctly abusing it?

If you replace abuse with utilize in your statement, I think that would be more accurate...

"but as is the case with Gravity bow... had I known how big an impact it would play in combat and how much you would UTILIZE it, I likely would never have allowed it to begin with."

Ok. Now that I've had time to review th feats, have determined that they in fact do not stack with one another. It's really pretty obvious now that I'm actually taking the time to look at it... and it answers a lot of questions as to why you were dealing as much damage as you were every time you fired a bolt.

That being the case, I'll allow you to pick one of them and drop it for another feat.

Additionally, as a retroactive effect of this change, I'll be striking Firewind's death from the record. This will eliminate the negative level your character suffers as a penalty. Adjust your sheet accordingly. Welcome back.

    Mezlo:
Yyg, on this cloak, the +4 AC, is that a deflection bonus or a natural AC bonus or like a magic + AC bonus? I'm guessing it's not in the category of armor AC since it's just a robe. I'm just trying to determine what category its in so i know what can stack with it. would leather armor stack with it?
The +4 to your AC is written incorrectly in the description. It specifically applies to deflection bonus, not to raw AC. As a deflection bonus, the +4 is added to your AC to ward off Missile Attacks against you in the form of Bullets, Arrows, Bolts or Projectiles. The Raw AC bonus on the robe is +1. Theraw +1 bonus does not stack with the +4 deflection bonus.

Additionally, the robe will not stack with Leather Armor, as you must choose to wear one or the other. Robes are classified as a type of armor and as such, can be worn in place of armor, not on top of.

    Mezlo:
We aren't restricted to "Core Rules only" for Pathfinder when selecting feats correct? We can use the "Advanced Player's Guide" guidelines?

I'm looking at putting some levels into ranger, but i want a combat feat in the Advanced Players Guide because I already have all the feats that are given in just the Core Rules...
The use of any rule, be it Feats, Skills, Spells or otherwise... need to be cleared through me first before you may select them. Some of the Advanced choices of various categories are largely overpowered and should not be available as options to a group as causal as ours. If there is something in the Advanced guide that you would like to use, just let me know and I'll look into it. The vast majority of them should be ok... but as is the case with Gravity bow... had I known how big an impact it would play in combat and how much you would abuse it, I likely would never have allowed it to begin with. That being said, I'm not going to take it away from you now.

    Armando:
I believe Yyg said yes to non-Core rules. I'm pretty sure almost everyone here has feats, items, or spells that aren't in the core rules. I'm also sure he's said yes to Prestige Classes that weren't in the Core Rules.
Yes and No. You each have Feats and choices from outside the core rules, but they have all been cleared through me individually. Prestige Classes are also permitted outside the core rules, but again... only if cleared through me first. I'm going to be very strict when it comes to your choices, however. Be forewarned that your chances of getting a Prestige from outside the core rules passed me are slim. Make a case for it and I'll listen.

    Armando:
The companion's level is based on your Druid class level. For the purposes of this ability, Rangers count as a Druid -3 levels (so at Level 4 you get the equivalent of a Lv.1 Druid pet.)
    This is correct.

    Mezlo:
I'm going to be swapping focus shot with spell focus evocation i think. I've planned out my character now through level 20, and me likey...
Thats perfectly fine. Make the change.

    1) Nothing was meant as an attack on anyone, nor was it the intent of bringing up this issue.

    2) The only reason why I pointed out that those feats might not stack is I wanted attention brought to it before it became a problem later. I'm not after any sort of retcon, it is just something I noticed when going over everyone's sheets.

    3) As much as I love screwing with the DM, getting a reputation as a dishonest player is something I do not want as it's bad for the entire group.

Also, a 4th level Ranger gets Hunter's Bond which gives him an animal companion. Will that animal companion level with me as I level, or only level when I chose to put a level into Ranger? Logic seems it would level as I level regardless of what class i chose to put a level into. Is that correct?

This ability functions like the druid animal companion ability (which is part of the Nature Bond class feature), except that the ranger's effective druid level is equal to his ranger level –3.

I thought so too but wanted to verify. I'm going to put levels into ranger and once my ranger hits second level, combat skills through the Natural Weapon path would allow me to select Weapon Focus and I'd focus on Longbow so I could unlock Arcane Archerer, I just want it verified that's ok to do.

and Yyg, don;t forget to address this when you get back in town.

Yyg, on this cloak, the +4 AC, is that a deflection bonus or a natural AC bonus or like a magic + AC bonus? I'm guessing it's not in the category of armor AC since it's just a robe. Flaming Robe
    - Crimson colored cloak, AC+4, Fire Resistance +10, 5lbs
    - Once per day the wearer may speak a key phrase (Currenlty "Flame On") and invoke the power of the robe. When the incantation is spoken, 4 orbs of fire approximately 6 inches in diameter manifest from the robe's sleeves and circle slowly around the wearer at waist height. Invoking the cloak is considered a free action.
    - As a standard action, the wearer can pick up and throw one of the orbs at an opponent or object at a range of 60ft. The orbs detonate on first contact with a foreign object and deal 1d6 damage to that object.
    - Once thrown, the orbs travel in a straight line at a rate of 30ft/round. Their path cannot be altered by any means (including wind).

Oh, and an answer to this Yyg.

I'd like a combat feat as ranger thats listed under Adavanced Players guide, just need ot know if i can select one of those feats.

•If Core Rules only: archery or two-weapon combat.
•If Advanced Player's Guide allowed: crossbow, mounted combat, natural weapon, two-handed weapon, and weapon and shield).

*edit* i have all the feats I want that are offered from the Core Rules. I think we are using the Advanced set of rules, but I'm just checking.

@Yyg: If you do agree that they don't stack, would this retcon Lily's death and negative level? Mezlo couldn't have killed her outright if you take away the damage bonus from Focused Shot. I'm not sure if that'd still put her in negative HP, but it certainly wouldn't have been instant death; I would've had a chance to cast Stabilize.
