    Re: General Discussion

It's too bad, you probably don't remember the plan Cid came up with before Firewind brought up the scroll of Jump. It involved creating a sort of harness around the Immovable Rod that, when shot as an arrow from Cid's bow, would trigger the Immovable Rod's button on impact. He wanted to shoot it at the platform.

Cid should post the diagram he drew us.

I'm taking this as an indication that we're doing our jobs correctly.

I remember NONE of that. Not a thing.

Fuck you Scotch. That sounds like it was fun. I just wish I had any recollection.

This is a first for me. I've never blacked out a memory before because of a booze.

I don't remember any climbing checks being made to get him to the top. It was my assumption that we ended mid-plan. He's up there? Was I drinking that much? I mean I'll believe it, but I don't remember it.
    Here's what went down:
    * We devised a plan to cause a commotion and try to draw any goblins in the next room into the current room
    * Kalad pointed out that the next room has The Nexus, and that we must secure it as quickly as possible. He also pointed out that it's the last entry point into the city, so we risk being overrun if we stay on the defensive.
    * We asked Kalad about the layout of the next room.
    * We spent like 15 minutes trying to figure out how to take a shortcut up, since I'm out of healing spells and we can't keep fighting much longer.
    * Firewind reminded us we have a scroll of Jump. You dismissed it by pointing out that the platform in the middle is 40 feet up.
    * I convinced you it was possible for Lily to make the jump if Enlarged Theron and Jarre gave her a boost, since:
** Lily is super light (this sparked a side discussion with you about how Lily can't possibly be shorter than 6 feet.)
** Enlarged Theron and Jarre both have 16 STR
** Her jump distance is reduced thanks to the jump starting from our hands.
** Her jump distance is reduced by her height since she only needs to grab the ledge with her hands.
** I gave her my Mask of Second Chances in case she botched the first Acrobatics roll.
    * We gave Lily the Immovable Rod so she can lower a rope from the platform. She made the jump without needing the mask.

You ended the session after she made the jump, since it was late. We haven't started climbing yet (in fact, I don't think Lily's had a chance to lower the rope.) I think Mezlo had already started heading for the stairs.

Considering I'm just hearing about it now... yep.

How awesome is that? (not very)

Did you really black out the entire elf tossing session?

That being said... I woke up on Sunday worried that I had walked away from the session and never come back. I had absolutely no memory of the end of the session. The last 20 minutes or so have been explained to me in bits and pieces.

I had 3 beers and 1 glass of scotch. How that created a black-out is beyond me. I can handle 3/4 of a bottle on any other day and be just fine. Maybe I didn't eat enough?

Sure, but Kalad hasn't even entered the room yet. You guys bust the doors open and rushed in with the "Get up there Nao" tactic. Nobody asked Kalad what was where or what to do next. Assume you get up there. Do you know how to deactivate the Nexus? Does it have to be Kalad that does it?

    Important questions with assumed answers.
Fair enough. However, we did state that the next step was to get everyone else up to Firewind's level by using the immovable rod and rope (except for Mezlo who offered to act as a diversion by taking the stairs.) We don't know yet if there's any casters nearby, so nobody can assume Firewind can survive indefinitely.

As for Fire's comment about the control box, he's probably just assuming that he can see it now that he's up there. We would've moved upwards regardless of it actually being drawn on the map or not.

Wait, what? Kalad knew the layout of the room didn't he? It's impossible for us to see what's up there, but we should've at least known that we needed to move up.

I'm letting you be arcane archer. You would still need to use a bow though. Crossbows will not be permitted.

If I had been notified I leveled, I would have cast this spell prior to make our invasion into the next room. Is that cool?

(Man I can't wait for next session... Saturday hopefully)
The Level up will take effect at the end of the combat you're engaged in in this room. Nobody should be resetting spells or changing anything until the end of this current combat. Sorry for the confusion about that. I was drinking scotch at the end of last session. My attention span was shot.

In other words no. No spells are being cast retroactively.

Also question to Ygg: Does Protection from Evil give me the +2 AC Deflection Bonus and +2 to Saves against Mezlo if he actually is Evil now? If so it does make Mezlo a whole lot easier to take into account for any future battle plans
Booze was not the issue here. I didn't tell you what was where because you entered the door on the ground floor of a 100 foot tall spiraling room. Those controls you see are on the top level. You couldn't see them if you wanted to.

Also: Yes protection from evil would grant you bonuses to deflect Mezlo's arrows in the unlikely event that he attempts to take your life again.

To sum it everything up in bulletins:

    1. Treat the remainder of the combat in this last room as if you have not yet leveled up. Apply your new stats at the end of combat.
    2. Protection From Evil protects you from Mezlo
    3. Mirror Image is Hax
    4. Poison Arrow is simply called Poison Arrow in PF
    5. Nobody can see anything on the levels above them. The floors are not transparent. The fact that you're all instinctively trying to jump to the top level leans in the direction of metagaming based on your out of game knowledge of the map layout. Cut it out.

There is also the sheer number of buffs up on my character, and the fact that I'm fairly sure that the rest of the party plus the Hammerdin will have something to say about you opening fire on a party member
