FFXITsukasa, If your SMN is your sub job, then you will never be able to get the full use out of your avatars. Correct me if I am wrong, but don't they lvl when you lvl too?? If thats the case then at 60 BLM, your avatars will only be 30.

and if anyone has a problem about people making there own combinations of sub-jobs they can just kiss my ass because it doesnt matter a BLM could sub a RNG if they wanted and it doesnt matter it doesnt matter about boosts or anything heck the game was made to play not for people to bitch over what jobs go with each other. and yes i do agree tsukasa that i will miss not being able to use the cool gun skills or bow skills but still i will get my cool lance skills and my wyvern will make up for the loses

Summons from a subbed smn job are worthless. Do you think a lvl 10 summon could do anything against the lvl 25 monster you are fighting at as a lvl 20? Only bonus from smn subbed is extra mp and mp regen when you get smn at 25.

Only problem is it does matter, perhaps not to you, but those who you would like to party with. Vast majority of people don't want gimped combinations in their parties. Glad you like being unique and all, but what good is it if you can never find a party because of it?

This is a party based game which means teamwork and thinking of someone other than yourself. You are expected to do what is best for the party, not your independent free-spirited ego that says I'll do what I want, when I want. That isn't teamwork.

anyways, why should people have to make considerations for people they don't know, and may not ever meet in order to make their gaming easier. Yes it does take teamwork, but teamwork isn't assembly line A + B = C everytime. Diversity is what makes things more interesting for some people, and if things weren't possible or playable they wouldn't have made it possible to do.

I mean not everyone's goal is to be "THE BEST" and do "EVERYTHING" and "I'M #1, AND YOU SUCK CUZ YOU #2"

Yes be considerate if you're in a group, but why would anyone in their right mind, dish out $$ for this game, pay the monthly fee just to worry about Player A and Player B who might or might not ask you to PT sometime or harass and laugh at you cuz you didn't make a char/job/class/subjob/race/haircolor/height that is right.

Oh my god anyone who thinks differently than the in-crowd, who obviously know everything there is and dictate what people should do in order to make it a perfect world, should just not play.

I agree, play what you want....but...

In all honesty, it was really fun "Working with what we have" when i first got this game. You know, back in October when none of us NA players had any gil or much of a clue. It was "fun" getting 30-40xp a kill and it was "fun" taking forever to do it. We were all learning.

But you know what? It's been a while since wasting an entire evening of getting small amounts of xp was fun.

When i lvl other classes but my main it's beyond boring to be in a party with people who are just starting out and "having fun" trying out all this new stuff. When i go to lvl i don't want to spend an entire evening "cracking jokes and working with what we have" and ending up getting nothing.

When i go lvl i want to do that, get freakin' lvl's. Xping is not 100% fun after you've done it for 50 levels + countless other classes leveled. You just want to do it, get it over with so you can go do other things that are actually more fun.

When you need 8000xp to lvl and you get in a party, you're having fun for maybe 4000xp. After that, it starts to get boring. And i'm not in the mood to "work with what we got" because i know what works well from personal experience.

A paladin SHOULD sub warrior. If he's not people ARE going to die and guess what, that's not fun. When you tell people what Weapon Skills + Magic bursts work the best on certain monsters, i don't want to hear "But hey, lets do this other one, it's more fun."

I mean come on. I love playing this game, and have fun in parties, because i party with people who aren't ruinning my fun. And yes, my fun is ruined if when i lvl lower lvl classes in parties full of players who are new to the game, but won't listen to your basic advice on how we can do 100 times better because "Hey maaan, let's work with what we have because this is fun for me."

Not for me. Been there, done that...back in October/November. I like people who know what they're doing, and if you don't, have the common sense to listen to people who do.

And yes, there is a right way, and a wrong way to do things. We're not theorizing on the meaning of existince, we're playing a game with set rules and bounderies. And people who have played a while know what works best to get what we want asap.

But hey, if you have fun dicking around with people who "just want to have fun" then great, power to you. Some of us have fun accomplishing things, not wasting our time. Besides, if i want to have just "fun", i can go out with friends. I play this game to achieve, acomplish and enjoy myself.

None of those are achieved by playing with people who "Hey, so what if i have ranger subbed on my paladin, i'm having fun".

But hey, thank god around lvl 40-50 you'll make perma parties and won't have to play with people who "weee, let's have fun running into this wall man...it's fuuun".

So what you all are saying is that people have very little choice as to what they should do in the game. Maybe the developers should just make things so utterly black and white that players can only play certain combinations because thats what will make it completely successful in the high end game. That way no one will make the mistake and ruin everyone else's gameplay because they did something wrong that will ruin their teammates fun with death and loss of xp and a bad night.

Maybe there should be a warning listed: YOU PLAY THE WAY WE WANT YOU TO OR YOU SUCK IT, DON'T EVEN BOTHER COMING HERE WITH YOUR BRAND OF CHOICE CUZ BABY IT AIN'T GONNA WORK.

If someone wants to try something, they shouldn't be given a brick wall and told sure hit it headfirst but you're not gonna survive. There is a real difference between caution and support and coercion and dominance.

Its the sociological conformist attitude that just sucks and thats what I'm talking about so go ahead and play more of your game statistics and vast experience posts and I'm sure I'll learn something that will help me to become a boring automaton too!

If this was a single player game, then fine, play whatever the hell you want. But it isn't, this is a TEAM based game... probably the most team-oriented MMO in history. If your not using a suitable subjob, your putting your entire TEAM at a DISADVANTAGE.

Granted, if your the ONLY Blm/Smn around, its not going to make a huge difference. But then again, your assuming your the only person who does this. What if everyone in the game just did whatever they want? Make a PT consisting of 6 of these 'oddjobs', and you think its going to work? Don't think so, the problem with what your doing is that YOUR DEPENDING 100% on everyone else to have A SUITABLE SUBJOB, just so you can do whatever the hell you want. If everyone did what your proposing, there wouldn't be a game at all.

If you can't see this, then your stupider then we all give you credit for.. and you probably have no business operating a computer.

People have plenty of choice on what they do in the game. People can choose to play a whatever class they like. And by the same token, people can choose to play with whoever they like. Just as it is your right to play whatever combination you choose or even to play a single class all the way to 50, it is the choice of the people around you not to invite someone with an inappropriate or underleveled sub.

People don't have to pull to the right for ambulances and fire trucks. In most states, it's not a written law. Everyone knows that you are supposed to pull to the right, and most people do. But I got my EMT training from a scholarship founded by the survivors of someone who got killed because they didn't pull to the right and killed the driver and both EMTs in the ambulance.

You can do whatever you want to in this game; no one is stopping you. You can be independent and free-spirited and deliberately ignore the advice and suggestions of everyone around you.

This is a cooperative game. These people are not making these suggestions up from thin air and just to be mean to you (this is the collective 'you' and not anyone specific in the following). They (we) are sincerely interested in helping you enjoy the game. But there seems to be no nice way to tell you that your idea sucks and no good players will want you in your party if you use that job combination. Your response is always that obviously we are mean people and what makes us good players anyway. Well, experience. Experience that you choose to continously discount for various reasons. In that event, all we can suggest is that you get your own experience. But most of the people making these suggestions are not mean and none of us are making this up. We're just trying to save you some pain.

I sure like the way that out of everyone who plays the game all you all are speaking for everyone out there. I mean you're not going to group with this guy who wants to make this combo and not everyone who plays reads this board, so when you say they are putting "the team" at a disadvantage what team are you exactly referring to? Your team? His team?

I actually like Khaelyn's response the best. It was tactful and expressive. Its the attitude that I have a problem with, not the actuality of gameplay. Its this, I know better than you attitude.

I've played enough games to know this type of attitude and player and you know not everyone out there is out to do and see everything and come back and say oh yea I sank a year of my life into that game and did/see/saw everything.

I'm sure someone will come along and say that doing a quest isn't the same as grouping and I realize that its not, but sometimes people say don't do that quest, don't hunt here, go here to level, gotta fight this, gotta do that, but sometimes people just want to try it out for themselves, even if its a waste of time for someone else.

If someone is all hyped up over doing or trying out something, then let them do it. Learning from experience is the best teacher, not doing something cuz everyone says its wrong to do is not letting anyone have the freedom to try new things for themselves. Do you get it now?
