Ok, after my 4 months of dormincy and the constant fear of being banned for speaking my I finally have come back. I have been playing FFXI and EQ on and off and I find the world of Vana'Diel quite interesting. I dont play much and when I do I quite often find it just fun to mingle with the people in towns and fish or do trade skills I guess you could say I act like Tsukasa in game. Well I am still wanting to become a Black Mage Summoner regardless on what is the most effective. Who else feels like me and wants to become something they have always dreamed or wanted to be rather than something that would be the strongest possiblity or wisest choice. Who is with me?

i finally got level 75 last night on my black mage, i still do not see how a blm/smn can be more useful than blm/whm in most of the situation, if it's your dream, then follow your "dream". how far you will get in that dream is in doubt.... seriously in doubt

I'm really glad you posted this. You are on the way to persuing my same dream! I can't wait until I become a BLM/SUM! And there are so many people out there that think you won't get an invite because you are a BLM/SUM rather than a BLM/WHM (for example)
. We are the ones who need to keep it diverse! Celebrate it! Be what you want to be! Thats why this is YOUR game and YOUR character! I love it when people see it my way. This post won't change all the close minded peoples minds, but you know what?! I think this is one of those things that should be on here! smn subjob doesn't work well, all it does for you is give you a minor MP boost. I haven't run out of MP since level 30.

might be your character, but you're playing this with other people, hence its a MMORPG, and not just a RPG; your contribution affects their fun...have some consideration. its not a matter of closemindedness, its a matter of experience. smn subjob just does not work.

If you have fun running around fishing then.... just go ahead and use whatever you want. Blm/war, Blm/smn who cares if you're not partying....

Most NA players will take a BLM/SMN into their party without a second thought. I've seen some (even non-BLM) say that it's the best combo for BLM. I don't think it's ideal, but it'll work for NA parties (not that NA parties work that well to begin with >_<).

BLM/SUM would be an awesome job to be i mean BLM always whine about being attacked but now they have a tank if they would just summon. and FFXI is made for peoploe to be what they want even if it will be bad it doesnt matter anyone has there opinion in making there character the way they choose like me im gonna be a DRG/RNG whenever i get both the advanced jobs

You have it reversed. Play your BLM to 60th lvl, then go get the avatars, once you do that, switch to SMN as your main and BLM as your sub. That is what I will be doing. I am also joined with a Smn/Wht and Smn/Rdm. We will be a most interesting party indeed. Oh and we will be accompanied by 3 tank classes as well.

I think Black Mage Summoner would be a great idea. Not only does it give you the ability to summon upon the avatars which have some partiularly useful affects, such as Garuda's Wide-Area Blink, but it gives you an MP boost along with Auto-Refresh so y ou wont have to heal to regain that MP. And as long as you keep Summoner as your support job your Black magic is going to be just as strong. As I see it Black Mage Summoner is better than Black Mage/ White Mage or maybe even Black Mage/ Red Mage because the Summoner job adds Auto-Refresh which is in general a good thing. And Xionix I think a Dragoon Ranger would be pretty cool because you could fend for yourself really well and you would get your Wyvern. Only thing is you couldn't use your cool gun and bow weapon skills :dead:

Oh and Kirara your wrong. I have absolutly no doubts about the fact that I want to become a Black Mage Summoner and your petty suggestion that I am searching for support about the fact is rather insulting. It seems your just full of yourself. I am speaking on this topic because its interesting to hear what combos people want and why. It stirs up a good conversation except from people like you that like to down on everyones idea.

I think whats wrong with it overall is people's attitude. Everything has to be done this way or that way and thats the only way to do it. Otherwise you're just a gimp noob who doesn't know what they're doing.

Or so the attitude goes, I mean conformity you know. Why does everything have to be done the way people think it should be, the majority of people who dictate why and how people should be in order to be the most effective. I've played alot of other games and the point is to have fun and work with what ya got and with what ya want to do, not what everyone tells you "is best."

That attitude sucks.

Do what ya want and find people who are willing to work with ya, if people are so narrow minded and elitist to think there should be only "ONE" way to play, then that really is their problem. They aren't paying your monthly fee, you are.
