i got some question at the same time.

is my Ram 2x512 + 2x256 can affect the general performance of my computer. (ex: is it better do put 4x256 or 4x512 i know its better 4x512 but you know what i mean)

Also can i tweak my 9600 pro more, and would be a good setting for it?

i have the same ram&amount/ motherboard/ cpu&cpuspeed. that gf 3 IS killing you. i need to get 9600 pro or 9800. then my score would be in the 4000+ for high. right now i have 64mb ti4200, and it scores me a 3300 on high, 4400 on low.

Well, I did some adjustments to the loathed GeForce 3 (namely turning down the AA and AF manual settings to automatic, and turning down image quality to high performance from high quality, AA 4x and AF 8x) and now my high res scores are in the 2050-2100 range (Haven't bothered to check low res). What do you think? Enough to run the game at high res?

BTW, the old settings were from times of ye ancient lore when this PC was a blazing jewel in the sky and all games ran at the highest settings with zero slowdown.

EDIT: Did low res, always around 3000. Strange, the high res improved more than the low res did.

That is because high mode is more graphics card intensive while the low mode has the complex grphics instructions to a minium making the CPU the main bottle neck in the mode.

I hope that in turning down your image quality you did not lower your texture or mipmap levels. Because then whats the point of running the game in high mode:confused:

I didn't actually see much of a difference in the texture quality. I guess that's because I let the program choose the levels it needs for AA and AF, instead of having them at the highest possible setting.

I remember having an option to adjust the GPU and mem speeds for the video card somewhere...now where the heck did I put that user's manual?

EDIT: OK, found it. Do you know if there's somewhere I can find recommended settings for those speeds? I don't want to go too high and mess up the card, however bad it is.

Yay!

I turned the speeds up to 240 mhz core/500 mhz mem. Now all my high res scores are between 2560-2580, and I haven't had any temperature problems so far.

This calls for a celebration.

Sorry if this was covered. I can't even run the benchmark, i get Error code= 2001. It also says HardwareTnL and a lot of gibberish. I'm thinking its my Intel Integrated Extreme Graphics 2 64mb?

I got on high: 4300 (it would have gone higher...but i stopped the movie, not knowing that it had not finished.) =P
On low: Why bother with low? If i can do so well on high?

Hmm, for me I got
High: 3900
Low: 4030

This is with....ah crap forgot my computer's specs.. I'll have to check when I get home. I'm pretty sure most of it's performance is being hindered from the GeForce 4 5600 128MB video card.

Otherwise I know it has 1GB RAM (Don't remember brand or much of it's specs AtM) with a 120 GB HD planning on getting a second 120 GB HD and have running on a RAID stripping haven't heard anything of the motherboard or the BIOS or anything not being able to Support it so might as well do it right?

Damn I can't remember what the processor's speed is, I know it's an AMD processor and was/still is the fastest one they have.

Those scores are of course with just a system setup on stability, no overclocking or any shread of focus on performance speed. Once I up my systems cooling to better then what it is now, then I'll try overclocking and focus it some on speed as see how it does then. I'll probably replace the video card too before I do that..

the fx is slowing you down a bit... how did you get 4100 on low score? i have a ti 4200, and the high score is 3400 (when i get 9600pro, i will have better score ), but my low score is 4400. you should be getting 4500+ with 5600 on low.

Nightrider, you scores are bs. athalon 2500 (that is still a thoroughberd b i beleive) + ti 4200 = 500 on high. all that with 512mb ram too........
either it's total bs, or you overclocked everything by at least 25%.

DDKirin, YOU NEED A VIDEO CARD TO RUN THIS, INTEGRATED GRAPHICS IS USELESS.

Hmm you know that does seem like it should be better on low...Only thing I can thing of is possibly my brother installed some stuff that's probably running in the background again. He's obsessed with that SETI program and Webshots changing the background every 5 min. or so..

I'll have to pay more attention, I'm guessing there has to be some of those running. Just so I have an idea anyone ever keep an eye on what their CPU's temperature runs at? Mine's staying pretty much around 45 - 50 degrees Celcius (At least I think it was Celcius I had it set as).

set up an administrative account, and prevent the installation of anything using msi, exe, zip, or install shield. i try my best to block those things out, but since i have xp home, the administrative tools are lax.

I am running on a clean install of XP Pro SP1 with the lastest of all drivers. I am a little confused at my low scores compared to comparably equipped machines. All I have running in the background is MSN Messenger and Norton Antivirus 2003. I was thinking I might be losing speed in HDD (I have an old 20GB that I would guess is running about 4000RPM) but the HDD is not working when the test is running. My score is basically unaffected when I run with 256MB of memory so I don't think I am having issues there. The only thing I can think of as a factor is that I am running ~500MHz FSB and others might be running 800... Any ideas?

it's most likely the mixture of 333mh ram + fx 5200 (mainly fx though).

i have 512 rd800 ram, ti 4200 w/ 64mb ddr, 2.53gh p4, 533fsb

44XX-L new
34XX-H new

i don't know why you have such a low score for sure, but like i said before, it's most likely the fx.
