I managed to get back my memory. I had 256MB of extra RAM I bought , but it wasn't working.. Gotta use PC100 duh.. heh heh anyway, I'm pretty happy baout my score, and I didn't even donwload the drivers yet. I will and update this.

so, i've done some minor OCing since my last bench (1600-ish) and i managed to pull 1847 with my geforce 2 mx (PCI..) I'm thinking of getting a radeon 95 or 9700 pro. just waiting to see if a friend can get either for cheaper than I've seen on ebay.

current specs are

athlon 2500+ barton @ 2ghz
512 pc3200 ram (no tweaking)
msi k7delta nf2 mobo
geforce 2 mx pci 64 meg @ 243 / 207 XD



oooh the power.. lol. i could probably get it over 2k if i pushed the athlon to a 2.2 or so. but this is just out of boredom x.x new vid card should = 5k easy. that score's also with mirc, mcafee virus scan, trillian, and zonealarm running x.x

so i upped the FSB to 200 mhz for an effective 2200 mhz. temp is 35-37c idle. haven't tested full processes but i'm sure it'd stay under 50.. and this is with a total of 2 fans in my system (pci gf2 mx just has a heatsink). highest bench on the revised screenshot x.x can't wait to get a real card.

the score is only 25-35% video card. the rest of your problems lie with the extra programs (i ran the bench with aim+deadaim+5 IE + norton virus scan+network connection [5-10mb idle] + task manager and got 4900-5000 and i have 512mb ram+p4 at 2.53+ti 4200w/64mb agp 4x). your atholon is made mainly for integer calculations, and the p4 at 2.2 can beat that chip in floats.

you need to turn off irc, trillan, and get a 9800pro. then your score could get to 3500-4500. overclock the 2500+to 2.4 and you may reach 5k.

well look, OCing the processor 400 mhz made around a 100 point difference, if even. OCing the pos graphic card (barely) made a 300 point difference.

and someone else on here landed a 6.1k bench with a 2500 barton at 2.2 (my speed), and a 9500 pro. I'll be getting a 95 or 9700 pro myself. I promise you it'll hit 6k after I tweak winxp processes and get rid of the programs that I usually run

myjello benched 6.3.. with a processor running at lower speeds as well. I think the graphic card is more than a 30% boost. People with geforce 4 mx cards and a 1.5 processor hit 3.5k..

don't want to flame here, but you made some retarded comments

the benchmark should be run in an environment which you will use it in. if you turn off antivirus and xp processes (ones that allow for internet comunication), then you will get a great score (i could easyly get to 6k if i wanted), but it's a bogus score that will not reflect gameplay at all.

the bench is only 25-35% of the score anyway, the actual processor speed and ram do a lot more for the score (that is why aerobahn got 8000 with 9800pro, but 6500 with crappy video card that could bearly handle the bench in borderline systems). check that post out yourself, it's about page 26.

hmm, didn't see aerobahn's post yet.. i'll take a better look for it later. my comments may seem retarded because i've been going by the impression that this benchmark score is supposed to be accurate =\

but i'm also going by what my friends have scored with lesser systems a better vid card...

i really don't think the rest of my comp is that bad O.o most of the people on this thread with an athlon 24-2800+, 256-512 ram and a good vid card hit 5k+ x.x i don't think turning my processes off will bring my score up by 3000 points

the processes will boost up to 1000 points if you are near borderline. else you will get 50-200 more. check aerobahn's post, it's full of insight.

and that still doesn't explain why people with specs identical or even lesser than mine can hit 5k.. we'll see when i get a new card. are there ANY places to find 9700 pros for a good price? i haven't seen any on newegg in a little while =\

darn my amd 2200+ oh well i'll be getting my barton 2800+ in the next couple weeks. I got a job The processor speeds and bette cache should raise my score since the game is more cpu dependant then gpu. good example of this.
