To be fair, her breasts weren't THAT big in FFVII's artwork, and Nomura's style has changed since then. That Tifa looks taller/older/more realistic than this Tifa.

Yeah, Nomura does the art for Dissidia. Another nitpick I have about Tifa here is Nomura didn't really try to add Amano's influence to the design, which is done for all other characters in Dissidia in their "A" (original) costumes. To be fair, though, Gabranth and Shantotto didn't get that treatment, either.

Don't annoy me with your contemporary examples,though, for you cannot spell "Tifa" without "T" and "A"

Also, I want Rachel Leigh Cook and her inability to adlib away from the character (and you know she's going to be cast again), because she actually does make Tifa sound like the dumb bimbo she looks like. I loved how Shantotto looked in Dissidia. She looks much better than she does in XI.

Yeah, but all the other characters got a little Amano touch in Nomura's design, I was pointing out that Shantotto and Gabranth didn't get that, nor has Tifa. They just plucked the design right out of the games.

And what's odd about that in Shantotto's case is Nomura's involvement in FFXI was focused on the character modeling. Even if only as a generic character model, Shantotto's look is totally his creation, so I find it odd there's no Amano embellishment when everyone else got them.

Gabranth was designed by Akihiko Yoshida, though, so its actually understandable that Yoshida may have wanted his character left untouched from how he was created, even though Amano was allowed to have a go at him.

Actually Tifa looks more mature like Amano's design. in FF7 she was more cartoony and longer hair. Amano's version isn't that much different from the original anyways. Dissidia Tifa still looks pretty different from FF7 Tifa.

More Amano wouldn't help her appearance.

Gabranth and Shantoto look totally fine too. The only ones that really deserve the Amano treatment are the ones Amano created (FF1-6 and 9.)

FF11's art director was Ryosuke Aiba, which I think was also involved with character design.

Gabranth and Shantoto look totally fine too. The only ones that really deserve the Amano treatment are the ones Amano created (FF1-6 and 9).

Toshiyuki Itahana did all character concepts for FFIX, along with all the work after Nomura on NPCs in in FFXI. Amano only supplied the usual bonus art he's been doing since FFVII.

lol nice one TGM. And yet the PSP is technically a weaker platform to boot. Just goes to show that a little creativity can go a long way (just look at well rendered Lightning is o.O)


Also, that image of Tifa is awesome. If he'd left her hair black it'd be perfect. I used to hate Amano's artwork when I was younger (around the time FF9 came out) but now looking back I really adore it. The work on the CE box for FFXIV is especially beautiful.

You know, I really do hope Shantotto steals every scene she's in.

Because I want her to become the most popular character in this series, just so either Shantotto gets her own game (not just an expansion) or that FFXI gets a single player game after all these years. Just make Shantotto a party member for whatever that adventure might be.

Ya I'm a huge Amano freak. I went to an exposition in New York......and came home with a lousy t-shirt (and poster). lol Yet seeing the pictures in person compared to digitally was just breathtaking. I had the opportunity to buy an original Amano piece about (oh god it was a long time ago) 15ish years ago. I didn't buy it....I'm an idiot....
