But did Jecht have his own playable party? Did Jecht has his own normal battle theme song?
Was Jecht playable at all? Did Jecht get as many cutscenes? Ya Jecht would could on the very significant parent list,

but Laguna is in a league of his own storywise and gameplay wise (including his own minigame!) and he did end up winning in the end besides Squall and the others and still being the successful president of Esthar, the most advanced city on the planet!

Okay sorry but I don't recall. What was Jecht's wife's name? All I recall was some generic flashback of little Tidus being with her.

Not only does Laguna have a rich history but Raine got a good and deep enough part of the story too, besides having a name. We learn more about her than Jecht's wife.

He didn't need it. Jecht was extremely impactful on the story, and they did a good job of it by showing clips of his past time in Spira.


Laguna was a twit. A loveable one, but still a twit.

and Mew mew mew! Laguna isn't all talk! He'll wapwapwap you with bullets and then blow you up.

Ya Jecht is good company too, but I still place Laguna several mews higher in significance and coolness! They would make a great team! There should be a scene where they interact in Duodecim! ^.^

Thing is, Amano's art usually doesn't translate well into game models. It looks cool as just artwork in his style, but not so much when you make 3D designs out of them.

Amazingly though Squall's image is strikingly manly - usually Amano does a lot of effeminate looking males (his rendering of Zidane is just... eww)

so I take it you completely missed the pervasive Amano/Nomura hybrids that just about all the main characters are by design?

You know how many people would complain if the classic characters were devoid of Amano's influence?

"Doesn't translate well to 3D" was a valid excuse used for PSX games. Its no longer a valid excuse considering just how many games, even PSP and DS games at that, can have art styles that are fully realized. Some of this might be old or aging tech, but that doesn't mean developers haven't had new tricks to employ in the last fourteen years.

I'm not hating on Amano here, I happen to love his art style but this is one case where it just doesn't look good.

Its a alt skin, you don't have to use it.

You can't just expect them to do the Cloud Amano concept from Crisis Core and not give the other characters a similar treatment.
