That is exactly like my ISP, BT. Except they also pretty much have a monopoly on the infrastructure here and refuse to shift away from copper cable. They are also heavy donators to the current party in power, so guess which ISP gets all the new Government contacts when things are being rolled out in new areas? Guess who lets them ignore these contracts and runs off with the money when it turns out to be too expensive?

There's still people in the UK using dial-up because of these guys.

They're terrible down here, I've gotten nothing but complaints from my coworkers.

Also, I still have bad debt from them from my marriage. My ex ran up thousands of dollars worth of text messages on my account and I refused to pay them.

Dude I fucking hate Sprint. I am sick of their text messages failing to send, sick of getting messages hours after they're sent, sick of the dropped calls, sick of not even being able to make calls. Hate them, sick of their shit. I've bided my time and waited for my contract to expire so I can switch providers and I head to the T-Mobile store since they're running a great promotion and ...

Goddamn at the price of phones. I mean goddamn. I never buy the current generation because I can't justify to myself spending over $600 on a phone. But even the older generations start at barely less than $300. I have nothing against my current phone really, but if I switch providers I have to get a new phone, that's just how things work. And I'm not really capable of spending that much money on a three-generations-ago phone. Fuck man. And then these sales people are being all pushy and I'm like, "No really, I can not afford this so I'm just going to need to cancel this whole thing."

So now not only am I stuck with Sprint, I'm probably stuck with my phone, too.

Then again, if I renew with Sprint, I am eligible for $150 off my next phone because I've fulfilled my two year contract. So that makes it slightly more palatable, aside from the fact that I will continue to be stuck at the mercy of Sprint for another two years.

Goddamn. :/

What about Verizon? They'll offer a free or discounted phone when you sign up for a two year contract.

I'm on Serebii.net right now and somebody just said the most asinine thing about the age old argument of casuals vs elites. It's bringing me back to the days of being in XI and coming across n00bs on a forum saying things like, "Why are you guys always so serious when talking about a game? I play for fun!" Fun almost seems like a dirty word in my mind because of how it gets misused. I mean, I'm as casual as anybody around. I can still see that fun does not necessarily have an inverse relationship to efficiency, as is often suggest. I'm contemplating replying to it. But why bother? It's not the first complaint of its kind and it won't be last.

For those in the know, yes, it's a "Smogon was mean to me!" rant.

It was mainly the accounts that I'm referring to, not to mention college and having all of my records changed over. But truth be told, I like my actual name. I just don't like the similar name I keep getting mistaken for.

The only thing I can do is call people out on it when they use it and make them feel really uncomfortable. And up to two years from now when I graduate and leave this job, I won't have to deal with it anymore.

Considering I did change my name legally? And I use an alternative name in Taiwan/Japan? Yes. I know. Hell, I probably have at least six or seven different names I go by, depending on context. I still have to fill out forms with three separate names fairly often, English name in one slot, Chinese/Japanese name in another, Previous name in another.

It's worth noting though that in the US, you can generally just go with a common law name change, as in, an assumed name. Most states don't give much of a damn about what you call yourself, as long as you're not attempting to defraud anyone. You can check local law, but unless you need to have a birth certificate modified in order to feel like it's your name, you could just show up at work tomorrow and tell everyone you're changing your name to Elizabeth. They're not going to ask to see the papers anyway. The actual name change itself isn't really a hassle, honestly, you go to a court, judge signs it, done. It's changing over all of your cards and accounts that can be obnoxious, but it's not really that bad.

I don't argue that. Unless they're nuns, then they're called Sister Ann, or Sister Susan. Then it becomes, "Do I even know her last name?" lol. Ahh, Catholic schools.

Do you guys realize what a pain in the ass a legal name change is though? Half the reason I'm still using my married after divorcing in 2009 is because going back to my maiden name is a huge hassle and without marriage/divorce reasons, also costs money. And I could have changed my name via my divorce, but didn't because the divorce was handled in Texas while I lived in Florida. And I didn't care that much to go through the hassle. And it is kind of nice having the same last name as my kids, I guess.

Of course all of this is moot because I know y'all are giving me a hard time. Plus if I changed my name, what are the chances of anyone at work getting it right? Practically zero, we've proven that.
