My life is literally, completely fucked. 27 years old, no post-secondary and still jobless and now our home has no income at all other than a tiny bit of disability (my brother) and my mom's pension.

Hes in good hands mate its amazing what they can do these days with things like cardiac catheterization and angiography (where they can with 30 minutes of getting to hospital put a probe to unblock arteries and has a very high success rate.) Just take a deep breath, drive safely to the ER and listen to what the docs say. Its easier I know sat on a wall but you need to be strong for your family and and look after them.

Yeah I didn't have the frame of mind last night to respond to what Mal said.

I'm really opposed in most cases to the government putting restrictions on what I am allowed to do with my life. Granted there are things that should be governed, like murdering, stealing, drinking and driving - things that affect others as much or more than they affect me. It's why I can't stand when people smoke and I think they're fucking idiots (to be quite honest) but I don't support the government making it illegal. I support laws that regulate its use where it is a nuisance to others, such as prohibition from smoking indoors and while performing some tasks. But outright taking it away, I do not support.

That's just one example, but I believe in complete autonomy of one's body. If you wish to smoke, smoke. If you wish to get tattoos, get tattoos. If you wish to have lots of sex, have lots of sex. If you get pregnant and wish to have an abortion, have an abortion. Abortion is one I struggle with the most since I think we can do a whole lot more educating on safe sex, but the point still stands - a person should have the full autonomy of self to do what they please with their own body.

While there are parts of me that don't disagree that some people shouldn't be having kids, I'm sure that there is someone out there right now who thinks that about every parent. (Hell, there are many times I asked myself why the fuck my parents had me.) The thing is, procreation most of the time isn't this hugely planned thing. Sexual activity is in one's nature. While I would fully support stronger sex education programs so that people know what they're getting into, there's a lot more to consider than that. There's rape culture, there's the culture of shaming people who get abortions (even if the woman having the abortion was raped, but then she will be shamed for that, there really is no end to the vile way people can mistreat one another). And sometimes, people just make bad choices.

But.

People should be allowed to make those bad choices. I hate the people who have nine kids who live off the system just as much as anyone. But you and I both know why they do it - because they keep getting paid to fuck, basically. The government hands them money for shitting out kids. It's not going to change anytime soon, but the best way to stop people from becoming a burden on the system is to make the system wean them off until eventually it's cut off entirely. There was a time when people worked for themselves and supported themselves, and the poor just died. Oh well. I'm of the firm belief that the land and the economy will support what it can bear. Let the free market and the supply/demand curve work itself out and stop using the government to hold up failing industries/families/etc.

Anyway this is probably way longer than necessary so while I could go on I'm going to stop, but I have a huge problem with the government removing my autonomy. I am my own person and I will make my own decisions, right or wrong.

We have had this conversation on the forums before and some of the things people were saying fucking terrified me.

Also Driving License retesting should be done at least once every 5 years, as well as an "I know how not to act a twat on public transport" License, tested every 2 years. I'm fairly sure it would solve a hell of a lot of pollution and obesity issues at the same time as well.

1- What are the requirements?
2- What are the penalties for failing to comply?
3- What are the benefits to this program?
4- How are the benefits going to outweigh the costs?


Overpopulation questions:

1- Saying there's "too many" implies that there is a set max population for the planet. What is that number?
2- What standard of living is that based off of?
3- What leads you to believe that that is the standard we should be aiming for, instead of one higher or lower?
4- What makes you believe that simply limiting population will lead to an equitable distribution of resources?
5- In North America, minorities tend to have higher fertility rates than whites. How do you intend to limit population replacement without unfairly harming/benefiting non-whites?
6- Almost all developed countries are below their replacement fertility rate; that is, children born inside the country aren't enough to replace the generation that came before them. The reason for population growth in those countries is immigration, not reproduction. Why should those countries limit their native populations to even lower rates; eventually driving themselves extinct?
7- If those countries shouldn't limit their populations, how do you intend to coerce developing economies to harm their own birth rates?
8- Speaking of economics, how do you intend to combat the huge damage caused by plummeting fertility rates and aging populations, such as is being experienced in much of East Asia?
9- What economic benefits do countries stand to gain through limiting population?


I could go on, but I'm guessing you probably just saw someone bring up those ideas once and decided to parrot them instead of actually thinking through the issues. I don't even completely disagree, it just annoys me how you act like you can solve the world's problems when you honestly have no clue what the hell you even want to do.

I support mandatory retesting every 10 years. It won't weed out all of the baddies but it'd be a start. Plus it would mean more jobs at the DMV for people who don't give a shit about customer service! Everybody wins.

Should require a license to have kids too quite frankly... I know a lot of people don't like that notion but truth is there are just way too many unqualified parents out there. That, and there's just simply too many of us in general now (but again, no one wants to talk about that.)

I think it was about two months ago, my boyfriend and I were driving to Orlando and the traffic was more retarded than usual (there's no such thing as "no traffic" in Tampa Bay). So we're just like, whatever, right?

We get a little closer to the source of the slowdown and it's a fucking fender bender in the middle of five lanes of traffic (no visible damage anywhere, like seriously pack it up and get on your way for fuck's sake), and some fucking douche is trying to stop traffic so that he can run back and forth across the road to his car that was pulled to the side and the other car in the middle. On the fucking INTERSTATE!!!! People were going around the middle lane and really hauling ass since it was really only the middle lane (the one we were in) that was fucked, I was just waiting for this fucking guy to get hit but he kept running and holding his hands out in front of him like to tell people to stop and ... dude I still don't know how that guy didn't get fucking clocked.

And I bet the cops were never even called, either. People are so fucking stupid here. We don't need the highway services or the cops to fuck up our traffic, plenty of idiots do just fine all by themselves.
