I think if a romantic relationship reaches the point where someone is making that ultimatum then the relationship is already over and probably has been for a while.

Also, FFX driving me crazy atm farming all the endgame stuff lol. Damn freaking One-Eye trolling me hard, got a 3-slotted Triple AP weapon for everyone (several times over) EXCEPT Tidus, and I can only kill it using the Magus Sisters currently so I can't force the drop rates in his favor by having him land the final blow grrrrr....

Still gotta unlock Don Tonberry and farm winning formulas as well. Ugh, damn you Sphere Master @_@

Or it could be a turning point, where the receiver of a well-deserved ultimatum finally realize s/he not only has been wasting his/her own life, but dragging down someone else besides. And, perhaps, change for the better.

Every situation is different, and it's hard to judge without knowing the details; I've heard stories of both control freaks making such demands as well as people who desperately want to save their loved ones from themselves but have reached breaking points.

I don't have the ability or energy or the stomach to find out all of the mundane truth by sorting through zillion of little details I don't have, so I'll just wave my hand and wish everyone happiness. (That should be good enough, yes?)

Actually, I can imagine the same for romantic love as well; if one partner is on a self destruction trend, getting out of his/her way if s/he won't reform isn't a wrong option. (Obviously this doesn't apply to petty jealousy on steroids or the normal compounding misunderstandings--but those are good reason for breakups if not solvable.)

Sounds about right. Someone who loves you wouldn't put that kind of ultimatum on you.

Not sure about romantic love, but I can imagine loving parents who place an ultimatum like that on an adult child who keeps bad company and misbehaves terribly. Shape up, or get out, essentially. Not everyone can be saved; getting rid of the bad apple to save the rest may be the only sensible option, sometimes.

Well, my views may seem a bit weird because don't think love should be unlimited. Boundless love make for grand, sappy stories, but reality demands recognition of limits.

I swear if one more fucking idiot wail "Ooooh! But Caveat Emptor!" at me when pointing out Valve's bullshit with how little QA Steam has, I'm going to punch them over the internet.

It's just nothing more than an attempted get out of debate free card that people hide behind in order to arrogantly and smugly make themselves look superior for not being "tricked". Usually these people are the first to whine when they buy something that wasn't what they were told it was.
