FFxi community attacking IGE!

Ya know... FFXI should just follow suit with games like Ultima Online and start selling gil packages then it wouldn't be a big deal. If SE offered packages at a lower or atleast competetive rate then fewer people would purchase gil from IGE and IGE would in turn purchase less from the gil farmers. In FFXI they couldn't compete with SE who could just create the gil out of thin air where as the farmers would have to continue farming. Yes, it would probably have a very negative effect, destroying gil value on all servers.. but hell would you rather have a game that the players enjoy because they can go camp rare items they want? or do you want a game where players sit for hours on end trying to get one NM spawn only to have it taken by a bot group and then have that group control the price of that item, driving it up and causing a perpetual cycle of people buying gil to buy that item that the gil farmers are selling.

Really... SE doesn't care either way, they either make profit off you buying gil from them, or they make profit off your monthly fee so you can camp against the bot group which they also collect a monthly fee from.

Either they understand there is a problem and want to fix it so their customers remain happy... but can't or they don't care that there is a problem and continue to turn a blind eye because they're profitting without any effort. It is that simple, it won't matter how much you spam IGE's customer support you're not going to drive them out of bussiness.. you're just taking up maybe 30 seconds of a customer service representative's time... big deal.

What exactly can us as players do about other players who buy gil? nothing that will stop them from buying it. So do whatever you CAN do you fight the fight. Whether is annoy the hell out of their customer service or not, Do whatever you can short of killing people. Send IGE hatemail, and tons of it, their address is in that allakazam thread, stage protests do whatever u _can_ do and keep doing it. AS to anyone who's trying to attack people doing it, well guess what, who the hell are you to tell them what to do? no body, so sit down shut up, and dont read the thread if you arent interested in it.

i dont have an opinion either way about the gil sellers. they are people just like the rest of us. they get up everyday and go to work. most on here blame them or ige. it would be really simple to put them out of business. just dont buy gil or items from them. supply and demand if someone is willing to pay real money for play money, someone else is willing to sell. if no one purchased gil, the farmers would be gone and quick. the farmers themselves are not to blame. they are real people working for real money to feed themselves. the problem is the people that are to lazy to spend a month camping stroper or some other mob for 1 drop. which is how long it took me to get an archers ring. i have people say to me wow your a rich taru and i would be willing to bet some of them think i buy gil. well i never have and never intend to do so. i get a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment by working hard for everything i have. i farm avg 4 hours a day m-f. i can make 200 to 300k in a week. i could have farmed a couple of weeks and bought a snipers ring. instead i went to ordelles and competed with the campers and gil farmers for this drop for a month, instead of farming. but to actually put in the time and work was exilerating and redeemimg. i had tells from people telling me that i couldve farmed 2 of them in that time. but that wasnt my point or style. i wanted to earn it. same with fungus hat and neckchopper axe. leaping boots are on my list maybe after 2nd archers ring
the whole point is this. IGE and the gil farmers are not to blame. they are not the problem. its the lazy people that arent willing to work for anything. instant gratification is all they are looking for. they are cheating themselves as well as all of us that work for everything. these are the same kind of people that make bots to do their work or beg for gil so they dont have to leave town and kill a couple of mobs. these are probaly the same people that quit because they arent satisfied or cant get past g1 or some other part of the game. so point your fingers at the right people. i bet there are people on here that know people that have and continue to buy gil.

Isn't that a tad, Iono, hypocritical? You are, in fact, telling them what to do and telling IGE what to do? How is someone saying "don't harrass IGE" any different, really, than your saying to IGE "Don't sell gil"?

heh I am sorry but I am not "defending" IGE, I hate it as much as anyone else, but I agree with many here saying that doing these childish pranks, MPKing gilfarmers and fishbots, and starting petions, will get you nothing. Really there is nothing you can do, the only way to stop places like IGE would be to stop the gil buys, and that would be very hard to do. So stop with all the stupid threads about IGE and killing him or her, and go back to the game and play it like you are supost to.
