Also, the net effect on the economy is effectively nil, because camping an item and selling it doesn't create gil, it just moves it around.
then the biggest threat to the econmy is the gilsellers who farm guardian crawler all day. they add gil to the economy thus helping with inflation. though not as badly as fishing, it's still something to consider.

Heh, my LS went to Ordelle's and started screwing with the sellers there... charmed the Chyme and walked around the sellers with it following them, standing inside their characters etc.

      Good times.

Hehheh, I made 3 of my 4 million gil farming mobs for their gil and the drops that I always vendored. My 3 million gil will do more damage to the economy than every kote that will ever be farmed and sold to fund gil sellers.

I decided to hunt tigers today with my DRK because I didnt have much to do. As usual, the hom gang was out in batallia around the clock (homek, homel, homem, homen, homeo, homep, all rank 1, all lvl 55, all lvl 25 thf sub, all chinese) and pretty much had the whole zone cleared 24/7, so after sighing I figured I head to Davoi.

Since one of my LS mates was in need of a Archers knife I figured I could brighten his day a little and suprise him with one by camping hawkeyed, since it had around 45-1 hour repop it wasnt to bad at all, and its a common drop. However, the Linmatei gang (Linmatei, Linmateii, Linmateiii, etc...) were as usual, perma camping all NMs 24/7 around the clock, day and night. After losing twice to both Linmatei and Linmateii, I gave up and logged right there. I wasnt happy. =(

Its not the fact I lost the pull that I was sad, its because all there doing is getting the drops, then selling it online. Instead of the people who are trying to earn there items fair and square. I feel more and more apprehensive each passing day everytime I do a /sea in Norvallen and seeing these 2 groups here all day every day. (Fenrir server btw.)

SE really should makethe high camped gill seller items ex, such as archer rings and knifes...BUT keep their synths the same...that way they will need to spend alot of money if they want to make money....wich they cant do...

Actually, for those items, the biggest threats are price fixing.

Because gil-sellers are unsually 'organized' and can devote massive amounts of time to making sure they have a monopoly on the items.

even if they can achieve a 50% monopoly over a item like snipers, then that would have major effects; been able to hold and reduce supplies, and then pump them up... etc.

                            -----------

The biggest effect the guardian crawler campers have are is that they're denying a resource to legitimate farmers; the rate at which I use to farm them was pretty fair; 20-25k per hour. Not exactly great, but not horrendous.

Even at 24/7 farming... the additional 500k-1,000k gil (that can be) added to the economy everyday doesn't amount to much.

On the otherhand, the fishers because it's relatively less limited, can with enough for them farm up a combined total of 10 million+ a day... and then NPC that stuff; new income...

that gil has to be balanced by the influx of demand as well as the influx of supply; on desirable items such as lizzy boots and emp hair pins and everything else.

Inflation occurs when gilfarmers limit supply of those items; as well as increasing the total gil available in the game.
And the trouble with that is traditional money making schemes don't rise at the same rate as the inflation in desirable items.

Ultimately causing honest players to farm harder and longer.

But on the otherhand... if the gilsellers aren't coordinated enough to fix prices... their constant farming can outstrip demand, causing prices on items to fall dramatically. Case in point is the amemet mantle; that thing was been farmed constantly. But there was no coordinated attempt at price fixing. Moreover, the supply outstripped the demand.... so that even if you can hold a large supply of items... unless you can constantly farm them, you can't keep a monopoly on the supply... once you stop, because you can't move product at the rate you demand it, new farmers will come in and eventually return the price level back to more acceptable levels as they try to outsupply each other.

You need to burn in internet hell. Where you're using AOL and every popup you get is replaced by pictures of goatsec.x, tubgirl and lemonparty. And you can't stop the pop ups.

Or maybe you're already there! would explain alot of things.

Lenora, are you talking about the mantle or the skins? Really, the crafters are what made the price of the amemet mantle fall so low, not the gil farmers that camp in kuftal 24/7. Andyliu has kept the prices of the skins more or less in the same general range since he does pretty much control the market for the skins while the crafters kept pushing the price of the mantle further and further down for some reason. It's the same deal with elemental staffs tho the prices of the beads has dropped since no one person controls the market for the ores.

So, unless something changed drastically since the last time I checked the prices, I think it's the leathercrafters that ended up screwing themselves over and not the gilfarmers doing a bad job of regulating the prices (sadly).
