These companies like IGE do hurt Square Enix though, the process of making gil in the game is as much needed as the leveling. If those are tampered with then players get to the high levels fast, but then you have even more players loosing intrest in the game even faster. So the full profit that SE could of gotten is taken from them and transferred to this other company instead.

That's basically theft at an intellectual level. I could see that the log may not of been built to be easily manipulated for finding illegal actions in the delivery box. A log however does have to exists just may not be in a form that the GMs can use, probably something that SE is planning to work on with the changes they were talking about to that system.

To all you people who are admitting to gil-buying, I'd keep your damn mouths shut. There are many people from all servers who read these boards, and many people - like myself - will not invite jackasses that don't work for their own character in game. Sorry about the off topic post, but somewhere along the line this turned into a "I buy gil, where can I buy some more gil, LOL I really like gil buying" - thread. Just FYI, its against the rules of the board to post crap like that too. If you want to discuss in a manner the ethics of gil-buying, there's other threads about that. This thread is about a fucking conversation with a GM!

On topic now, that's kind of frustrating that the GMs can't view delivery logs, I figured that was the only way this type of stuff would get caught. I'm stumped now on a solution to the problem, other than "undercover gil-buying."

Aww comeone now why shouldn't they speak out, I'd love to know who I should be /blist 'ing. And directing the masses here to see that they admit to doing that action so he can't find a party and eventually leaves

Regardless of everything, it's genuinly sad that IGE (or whoever, I doubt they're the only one) are able to pay human beings to farm gil and then sell that with enough of a profit to make it worthwhile.

Havn't you realized there are A LOT of people buying gil? Ever wonder why people sell gil? Because it's profitable. Trying to single people out who buy gil to ostracize them and keep them from getting into parties is a lot like the bot hunts in RO beta 3/4. There are still people buying gil that will invite them, and other people who just don't give a flying fuck.

The whole stereotype of gil-buyers is kinda wrong. Everyone thinks they're needy little rich boys who suck horribly. Not always true, I have good friends that are really high lvl and when equipment starts to almost cost 1 million gil, you begin to look for other sources of obtaining that item fast. Do I buy gil? No, I have no need for it right now, nor do I have the desire to spend real money for fake money. Do I think it's wrong? No, it's their money, let them do what they want with it

Guys, I wasn't going to argue whether or not gil-buying is okay on this thread, that's what the other thread is for. I was simply making a comment that gil-buyers need not come on this thread and advertise it to everybody what they're doing, when it doesn't belong here. Umm is it just me or is it not in the disclaimer somewhere that says, using FFXI to make money is an offence and can lead to account suspension or even criminal charges? Seriously, if someone is making money off of FFXI, SE won't be happy, because THEY should be the ones making money off of THEIR creation.

I don't condone people buying Gil with real $$, but if they are pathetic enough to have to spend their real money on game money, all the power too them... I just hope they start suspending accounts and see how happy these people are after that. I work damn hard at farming to keep my gear half decent, only to see people Bot fishing, and buying Gil to get the items that take me weeks to farm for... yes I'm upset, but you know what? I spend more time learning about the jobs I'm playing and doing quests and learning about the game, I've see lvl 60+ people at R3 or lower, so they obviously have no interest in the story... just bragging rights about there Uber lvl and their fancy gear they got the easy way.

I personally have more respect for someone that is R10 playing an odd job combo with a gimped sub than someone at lvl 75 with uber gear and full sub with R2 or R3

As for the GM's again it is proven that they are a waste of time, I have yet to hear of them doing anything proactive... it may not be their fault... SE may not be giving them any real power, but if thats the case, why even have them at all? All I've seen them do is break up flame wars in the game... I can do that to: /blist add 'person flaming me' --> problem solved ^^

That was the point of this thread. The way many people thought gil-buyers could be caught, is in question. If they can't be caught, they can't be suspended, now can they?

As to your judging system according to Rank, it's not right. Seeing your job levels, you may not yet realize you are able to switch allegiances. So many of those lvl 75 Rank 2s are Rank 10 in another country. They just got so bored that they switched allegiances so they have more missions to do, rather than just quit.

SE really needs to find a way to stop the exploits, but its like everyone says, SE is still makign money, and now others are too... its the people that are buying into it that are losing money. I personally don't want to waste my hard earned money on fake money... but If it was my parents hard earned money and I didn't respect how much effort they put into making it, I may just spend it on useless crap like that...

The secret to farming is this: Find out what drops off of things that you can kill easily that sell for a good amout at the AH... Kill lots of the monsters that drop these items, then selll them... I know its a big leap of though there.

oh, and level your sub (and by that we mean keep it at half the level of your main job. IE. you are 21 war, your monk should be no less than level 10, when you hit 22 it better damn well be 11 or your a Noob and we'll still hate you)
