I think it's perfectly safe to compare apples and oranges in this situation. It would MAKE SENSE to me for lead GM's at least to be able to request some checks be run.

If you believe that only developers have that info, then if SE really gave a damn, they could fill out a little work request or something and have Skippy down in development run some checks on suspicious activity. The point is: they don't.

You think they care? They don't give a rat's ass and they prove it every single day on every single server.

Oh btw, on Shiva, IGE is taking 300k for $49.90 the last time I checked. Maybe I should turn in some Gil to get some money to pay for Everquest 2 or World of Warcraft :p

/sigh....please try to read all of my posts. In my Original Post I said:

"He said that all he can do is note the problem, review my chat log with this player, he CANNOT ban/suspend their account based on that no matter what it says....and all he can do is pass on his information to his contacts at S-E."

That is EXACTLY what I said that HE SAID that is ALL HE CAN DO is pass the info on. I ALREADY SAID THAT.

AND I already SAID they DONT CARE in my original post too.

You have reading comprehension problems, or a short-term memory problem and have already forgotten my original post.

Why is it that you and your boys in your static feel you have to verbally attack me on every board I post on? Go back to Vault with your dramarama and shouting.

You're acting as though someone here as all the answers and I'm so sorry to tell you, we're all only speculating and assuming things. Maybe you need to relearn some reading comprehension and understand that you started a discussion by starting a thread and that's what this is, eh? I'm so sorry I didn't answer you correctly and to the T, please forgive me Bran-Bran.

Well, in my opinion, the GM didn't do anything wrong. I think he's correct when he says even with the chat logs it would still be hard to prove they're buying/selling gil.

What's checking the transaction logs going to accomplish? It's well within any player's prerogative to send money to whomever they want, whatever the reason may be.

The only sure way they could prove what they are doing would be to obtain IGE's records on the other end to see who is purchasing gil and see if the amounts from IGE's end and the transaction logs match. Even then, it would still be hard to prove anything because we don't know that Ending and Faerianna aren't first sending the gil they make to a third person who pools all of the gil for IGE on Asura.

With that in mind, why is the GM to blame?

IGE will pay you $140 for 1 million gils, not bad. I think I will sell all of my equipments to reach 2 million, sell to IGE for $300, then sell my char to them for another $1000; then take that money and go play WoW when it comes out. ^_^ sounds like a plan!

I highly doubt GMs have access to delivery box transactions.. why? Becuase the developers probably didnt see it necessary to build a tool to allow the GMs to track this... The GMs do not have access to the DB, GMs are NOT developers, GMs are GMs, and all they have are a series of tools given to them by the developers. This probably includes log tracking, etc, but it does not necessarily mean they can track every single thing that happens in the game. There is a lot of "trivial" stuff that is kept in the database for only a certain amount of time, and then is summarized, placed in a summary table, and then deleted. A lot of other databases can only be accessed by developers directly, so I would assume most GMs (if not all GMs... maybe the lead GM...) have no access or knowledge of the database whatsoever. And it would be too costly to get a developer to waste his time querying through tons of rows of data to try to get the data necessary to find "evidence" of gil selling... Developers time is quite expensive, and I don't think SE wants to waste time going after something that makes them money =\

I got a feeling either Square Enix is in on the deal (getting a cut from sales) This is a big business, I mean BIG business. I wouldnt be surprised if IGE is a multi-million $$ business this year... or they don't care about IGE companies because it keeps the people playing.

Im sure thousands would have quit because gil is "too hard" to obtain the right way. So all the rich little boys can still play and get there gil.

I highly doubt they're "in on it". However it is impossible for them to do anything about it. There is no law against it. And congress isn't exactly determined to pass laws for online game currency exchange. Not that it would matter since FFXI is Japanese based and IGE is Chinese based.
