Lol no it was not as complex as Taskmage's idea.

It was the analysis of natural testosterone boosters for the presence of steroid adulteration through the use of the Accu-TOF DART. The long and short of it was it didn't work very well. The samples I picked didn't weren't adulterated and even when I did it myself, the steroids were not being ionized well. Likely it was that steroids do not have as good proton affinity as the other ingredients in the supplements, so even though I put them there, the instrument wasn't seeing them (which sucks because the DART is a really awesome and good ionization technique, just not for this :p). I did confirmation with GC/MS and that was able to see the steroid in the spiked samples just fine. Such is life.

Working on another project now and while I can't say what it is (because it is kind of super important for drug analysis) I can say this one is working!

Just gave the presentation for my summer research. It went over really well. I had some cadence and speaking tone issues, but my committee thought it was very good overall.

Do you have a Parks & Recreation program in your area? Perhaps a city-run or county-run pool? The Aquatic Center near me is run by the city's Parks & Recreation department. There are a number of other pools, too, but they're nowhere near as nice as the Aquatic Center (built in 2003 before the economy went south).

ETA: Perhaps there's a community college with a pool in your area? Perhaps a university? A YMCA?
