Good job!! ... a noble profession, indeed.

My achievement is less heroic. I got into and have been performing with a Improv troupe at the WA Midsummer Renaissance Faire called No Parchment Needed. We do 2 shows a day and between the shows just mill about and act all 'period'. Been really fun and we seem to have a pretty popular act. We are looking into the possibility of touring to other RenFaires here on the West Coast eventually.

After watching the demonstrations and combative shows, I'm thinking I really need to get back into stage combat. I really need to get recertified. I'd also really like to start setting aside money to buy my own hand and a half stage-combat bastard sword. A nice one... not one of the humdrum ones you can get anywhere... seriously thinking of getting a custom made one based upon the description of Longclaw from A Song of Fire and Ice books (the official one looks pretty but I'm not spending that much on something bereft of functionality).

The past year or so I've been eating healthier. I was one of those "chicken nugget" children that I despise so many modern parents for. Basically I didn't like it/everyone else said it was horrible I wouldnt eat it and my parents just let it slide.

I started to teach myself to cook properly and developed an unhealthy obsession with baking.
A little while back I phoned my mother and she nearly had a stroke when I told her I had just eaten broccolli with my dinner, She was even more amazed that I had actually bought it and cooked it myself.
You just have to take it slowly find something you'd like to try and then find a recipe/dish where that ingredient is present among other things you like. Try not to push yourself too hard with it.
I find recipes by Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver and Gizzi Erskin are quite simple to do and not too much of a challenge to eat if you are trying something new.
I still won't touch prawns though.

My latest achievement is I'm being considered as a permanent scrub nurse. I got to put my hand into a mans chest cavity and felt his heart beat, Whilst plugging a bleed with my finger. It was a mixture of amazement and disgust I felt. I actually couldnt believe I was doing it.
I'd definately like to assist with surgery more often but from my previous experiences I know it won't be as hands on as it will today.
Either way no matter if I get chosen I still had a great day.

Haven't said much here lately, or maybe ever, but my diet has lowered my weight by 30 pounds. I'm looking to ramp things up with some new diet and exercise routines in the next week to hit my target within the next eight months or so. Nothing comes quickly but I feel I can stick with this and keep myself from see-sawing back and forth like the diet has been so far.

I'm just sort of tired of looking like "the gamer" I'd at least like to move up to "the gamer that looks healthy."

My new job could go a long way toward that, but I do have to prevent myself from eating at this job. Its not sit-down and I'm on my feet pretty much the whole time, but there are the vending machines. Thankfully there's been free cider/cocoa/coffee and the usual water options around the workplace for free. I feel cocoa and cider are something I can compromise diet-wise on.

If I do go to the vending machine, its usually just for a granola bar. This being a second shift job I don't really need to have dinner there as I'm mostly a night owl anyway and can eat when I get back home.

I do get about 4-5 miles of walking just at work right, and decent cardio out of the stuff I have to do, but I need to start targeting the trouble spots and acquiring a taste for foods healthier for me. Its not a total sin for me to do burgers a couple times a week but I have to train my mind to stop looking for easy ways out. If I can do that on the job, I can do it elsewhere.

Swam 2.27 miles (4000 yards) on Saturday & 2.38 miles (4200 yards) yesterday. Swimming makes me happy.

Took a bunch of pre-employment tests at the county center downtown, basically what I was told is that if I don't hear anything in 90 days, I didn't get the job.

Uh, duh?

But I impressed the text administrator by my high key entry/wpm scores, 252 keystrokes per minute with 100% accuracy. Apparently you need 100 to pass. Uh, lol. So my accomplishment of the day is I'm an awesome typist? I guess that counts for something.

Oh, and I successfully navigated downtown and all its one-way bullshit without killing anyone. I guess that counts, too. (This would be the second time I've ever been in downtown Tampa in the three-ish years I've lived here.)

I suppose my latest accomplishment is finding a workout plan that I can stick to. In ~30 days I've gone from barely being able to do one pull-up to being able to pull up to seven in a row on a good day.

May be a little late posting here (I was waiting for someone else to post here so I could get the thread up), but...

The job I mentioned a couple times earlier is now mine. I've been there since this past Wed, and the company itself is simply AMAZING, and incredibly technologically savvy -- I'm classified as an intern (part time worker with full time hours, basically a temp), and they've issued me my own personal laptop, scanner and iPhone. Given the type of work I'll be doing it'll all be necessary, especially the laptop. I'm also planning on getting a iPad personally (assuming they don't decide to issue me one -- they have them mounted on the walls pretty much everywhere), and after working with my fathers', I can tell it would be incredibly useful, which makes me want to get one even more. In getting set up with my IT stuff, I've developed the reputation for being troublesome, and not by my own doing: took my 45 min to get setup in the fingerprint scanner system (it would recognize and accept me, but not unlock the door when we tested it), plus getting my iPhone set up for the work email took another hour.

The job itself is a decent rate of pay (not minimum wage, a fair bit more), and will be long hours before much longer -- most of the people I'm working with get in before 6am and leave after 5-6 every day and they've all been putting in 70+ hour weeks. So, it'll be long work hours, but doing some fun stuff. Plus, given the nature of it, I'll be working with pretty much every area of the company, so if I decide I don't like working on special projects anymore I'll be able to go pretty much anywhere.

And at the very least I'm getting some nice work experience for my resume.
