Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
Thanks! Though, first of all, "SamBakZa," as implied by the name, is a three-person group. They go under the names amalloc, Sogong, and SongSongHwa. The animator of the group, and the guy who was therefore responsible for the "There She Is!!" animations (and not "Here She Is," by the way), is amalloc, and the only male of the group. Therefore, from my assumption from you designating "that guy," you imply that amalloc played FFXI in the same LS as you?

Happy Birthday YM! Also: Major props for including a reference to anything by Sambakza. I used to play FFXI with that guy back in the day. We were in the same LS for a little while.
"Here She Is" is one of my favorite flash series. I'm so sad it's over.

To be honest, step 3 is my favorite for a variety of reasons. But yeah, if you haven't seen all five, you should totally go do so!Originally posted by Ketaru View PostHappy Birthday, sir. And thanks for the reminder, I never seen any of the episodes of "There She Is!" after part 2.
Anyway, birthday was fun. Smash Bros. Brawl until the Wii hours of the night (and subsequent oversleeping, if only because my alarm somehow failed me). Turns out that the birthday of somebody else there is on the 21st, so since we stayed up past Midnight, we kind of got to celebrate both! ^^

Replace "some" with "most".Originally posted by Taskmage View PostThey can be. Their particular creed has some tenets in it that more mainstream Christians cock an eyebrow at, and since they're often home-schooled and grow up isolated from "normal" children some of them can be pretty strange to converse with. Mostly, though, they're disliked because people don't appreciate having someone knock on their door and challenge their beliefs.
All of the pushy proselytizing groups are beneath my notice. I don't care if you believe in God, Buddha, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The moment someone starts thinking they can prove that their beliefs are more correct than mine (when the fundamental element of belief - as opposed to reasonable certainty - is the absence of proof) is the moment I categorize them in the group of people too stupid to salvage.

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
The thing I will say about JWs is that in a lot of ways, the ones I've met are trying really goddamn hard to be good people, they really want to be good people.
And then they go to Kingdom Hall and get their head full of crap. I've been told it's improved, but when I was an infant the church elders would blame wives for beatings-- clearly they weren't pleasing their husbands. I've seen sham marriages arranged by the church to politically link elders ; even if that means forcing a homosexual to act straight. Their persecution complex drives them to take any criticism as an attack, so it's impossible to do anything but fully comply or be the enemy. Church elders regularly use excommunication (which then leads to shunning, etc.) as a threat against any sort of dissent or non-compliance.
This reminds me, I need to go buy Christmas cards for all of them.

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
This is my dad. He once expressed confusion that I would choose to live a "loveless ideology," as if love could literally not exist for someone without an acceptance of Christ. I didn't share his faith, ergo I was living a life of despair. I couldn't have been more insulted. We jousted over it a couple of times to no progress, and it hasn't come up in a long time. I think he's given up on "saving" me, but it comes across more as a "I hope your path works out for you" rather than an "I've come to terms with the fact that you're going to hell" so .. it's an acceptable resolution to me.Originally posted by Armando View PostThis, plus the implicit arrogance of anyone who assumes their religion is THE religion and having a different ideology means you're wrong, misguided, or not living a fulfilling life.I knew two JW families in high school. Both were dysfunctional. One with terrible alcoholism and child beating, the other was merely emotionally abusive. The latter produced my best friend, who is a great guy, though no longer a Witness. There are a wide range of outcomes.Originally posted by Feba View Postdad's side of the family is all JW.
It would be more lulzy if I didn't have to watch how much it's fucked up a lot of lives.

I bought a door knocker for my house once... still have it somewhere. I used it to ward them off. Its the shape of a naked man. You use the penis as the knocker. If I knew they were in my street I slapped it on and posted a sticky note on my doorbell that read "doorbell broken, please use the knocker".
The one time I got it done in time, I watched from my second story window as they contemplated what to do for over 5 minutes. Well worth the investment. Thank you Spencer's Gifts.
