Re: FFXIV gets a 4.0 from Gamespot

I'm sure they planned the PS3 version since the beginning, but the stumbling block that forced a delay, may have caught them off guard a bit. They could surely make it work. Even if they have to diminish the PS3 version graphics to FFXI graphics, they will make it run smoothly on PS3.

    This pretty much.

Sloppiness is kinda the trademark of Western developers (except for very few exceptions) so people seems to be just glad if their games run at all.

But when you see Japanese developers going so blatantly western you start to worry, a lot.

It'll totally flop if they don't release it on PS3.

Well, except people WILL accept such issues from Fallout: New Vegas, which is a complete fucking mess. PC gamers especially.

But when Japanese developers mess up a game, everyone makes a big shitstorm about it, even over the most minor of details. When Western developers fuck up, "ambition" and "scope" are always the scapegoats.

I've already bought 6 months worth of crysta so I'll be in game for at least that.

They're either make it better and the time I put into leveling crafts pays off or it flops and dies and I just move to either another MMO or just stick with my original plan where I stop MMOing after XI and just go on with my life. (Which I don't want to )

Either ways I'm not bothered, most of my friends are waiting for my signal by xmas/ps3 release to say if the game is worth buying, and if not... then its no issue.

Just 2-3 more weeks for the 1st big update with all the UI and lag solutions. (though if you're in a completely empty place, theres no lag at all and its almost as fast as FFXI's UI)

which happens to be the start of 2 weeks holidays here so I'll get to test it out as much as I want.

This game would have to magically improve 1000% in a few short months, and there's just no way that's going to happen. There are so very many systemic-level problems with the game and interface design, and that's not even scratching the surface. People are so fed up with the buggy software, vaguely insane UI, and nonsensical design choices that hardly anyone has spent any time looking at issues like game balancing

Keep on keeping the faith, J9.

In the mean time, I'll be over in the other corner playing anything-but-FFXIV. You can believe all you like about Square-Enix and how they're oh so sorry for all the inconvenience, but words are just that - words. They're probably already too late to salvage FFXIV. The bad reviews are already out there. The first impressions are already out there for people to encounter on a Google search.

People are so fed up with the buggy software, vaguely insane UI, and nonsensical design choices that hardly anyone has spent any time looking at issues like game balancing. There could be huge mines floating in those waters ahead, only we can't see them right now in the fog of righteous indignation (however well-deserved).

PS3 launch will not save FFXIV by itself. Sure, there's going to be some people who simply don't have a PC with the muscle to run the resource-hog that is FFXIV PC, and I'm sure FFXIV will get some careful waters tested from such people who own a PS3. But console gamers are even less tolerant of terrible UI design than PC gamers, especially since there are so many examples of games with GOOD control design out there. PS3 owners have a LOT of competition for their time, and sure, not in the MMORPG space, but when your competition are titles like Gran Turismo, Call of Duty, Rock Band, etc. you're going to have to do a LOT better than just mediocre gameplay and broken socialization tools to get a PS3 owner to play an MMORPG instead of the many AAA-level titles they have at their disposal plus extra functions like Netflix and Blu-ray movie watching.

I want to see 10% more mews from Aeni, especially in the SC2 thread.

    Lol.

I didn't think the argument was really that serious. We've had much worse. I mean we didn't even get the super-annoying quote tree bullshit that people here like to dissolve all massive arguments into. (Which is the exact point at which I stop reading. Every thread it happens in. Seriously, quote trees are fucking evil and should be exorcised from any and all threads in which they begin to materialize And hell yes, this is a huge parenthetical aside. It's awesome, isn't it? I bet the sentence after the parentheses won't even make any sense after you read all of this mumbojumbo in the parentheses because I've gone off on such a tangent at this point. You're gonna have to reread the sentence before the parentheses. Don't you hate that? I do.) I just think you guys got a little snarky, then TGM came in with a bad mood (she said it herself) and everyone was like "OHSHI-------WHO DIVIDED BY ZERO" and stuff is all weird and shit now.

I for one wouldn't like to see Aeni suddenly post less simply because of a little argument that was contained to this one thread. Seriously. We all get into heated discussions sometimes. I have some infractions to prove it. In the end we still (mostly) get along and agree to disagree.

Anyway (long-winded nonsensical weirdness aside), don't quit posting here because you didn't get along with one person. And please don't start mewing, I really don't want my head - or anyone else's head - to explode. KEKEKEKEKEKEKEKE? ^________^

Two tiers of punishment, first I have your wife beat you with a wet noodle once daily...ramen in case you are wondering. And next every post you make must contain 10% mews. This will commence for one week. Go!

I'm not going to respond any more in this thread.

First of all, I want to apologize to Grizzlebeard for my hostile tone and my response. It was unwarranted and childish (immature) and did not need to have been posted. I take full responsibility for my actions and if I'm to be banned or reprimanded in some way then I'll fully accept that punishment.

Secondly, I would like to apologize to everyone else, not just those that have read this thread, but to those that participate in the overall community here. I have been less than civil on a couple of other threads as of late and I take full responsibility for those posts as well. You did not deserve to read that nor be exposed to vitriol in a community which take pride in civility and maturity (at least when compared to the other communities on the internet out there)

And finally, I'll try to keep my posts as informed as much as possible and try to fully research any claims or opinions that I repost from others. I'll also try to minimize my interaction to just the off-topic and a couple of areas of interest and possibly anything to do with crafting in FFXIV. I do enjoy the community and the discourse that occurs on a daily basis and that I need to remember to not let myself take anything personal from the community.

    With my sincerest apologies,
    Aeni

They should suspend the servers and pull it from the market and fix it. Do a re-release with the PS3 release and promote the hell out of it....but they won't, it would be too expensive. I actually love the game...for what it could be. I just don't love what it is right now.

okay um well I think with the situation this serious, SE could very well be convinced to improve things. And the PS3 launch will be a new community and new impressions from a different part of the market, so ya will have to see how it turns out.

I think even some PC gamers will give FFXIV a chance until the PS3 version shows how well the 2nd launch will be like and how the PC version updates will be like by then.

I'm sick to fucking death of hearing people spout this bullshit....especially people who DON'T EVEN PLAY THE GAME! Think logically for a minute, I know that can be difficult but give it a try. There are people ALL OVER THE WORLD complaining about this game. There are hardened MMO veterans slamming it. There are game magazines/websites, who's bread and butter it is to kiss developers asses, handing out bad reviews. Even FF fans are having a hard time keeping the faith with this game. All in all, this is not limited to a segment of the gaming universe, like 360 fanboys slamming the PS3, it's EVERYONE! So tell me, if you read in various newspapers/magazines, that a restaurant is horrible do you immediately think that the people that wrote that are spoiled? If you also hear its horrible from family, friends, and others, are they spoiled too? Of course not, you'll think long and hard before eating there and you'll usually steer clear of that place and eat somewhere else. We aren't spoiled, SE fucked up and the entire world knows it....except you and people like you.
