Jarre, sorry to tell you but unless you've leveled a job to 75 you don't know all the ins and outs of a job.

Maybe not at 75, but I know my job at the current level I am at, and if you read the following sentance you would see I am not trying to say I know everything as I said I am better at it than some but others are better at it then myself.

You have contradicted yourself as you are missing the point on many other members posts on this thread.

Sorry to ruin people's rainbows and sunshine, but like the thread stated in the BEGINNING of the post, it was a rant. If you didn't want to read it then you shouldn't have, no one forced you to hit the reply button, you did of your own free will.

The obvious reason for the thread is to ask for someones opinion on whether what you beleive is right, if you didn't want people to post comments on it then don't post it. By posting a rant you are opening up yourself for people to make opinions on whether tehy think your rant is just and agree or not and disagree.

Bard's a pretty busy job in TP-burn, but still doesn't hold a candle to RDM.

Funny, you say BRD has secondary dispels, the RDM I PT with I'm primary dispeller so they can save their MP. What kind of TP burn are you in when you're refreshing anyone other than yourself? With the exception of KRT it should be 1 maybe 2 people (BRD if he actually uses MP)

With 7 MP a tick without AF2 Head/Dalmatica etc, main healing a TP burn PT is not that difficult as mobs typically die before the second provoke cycle.

If you are healing a ton the melee need to learn to keep up shadows, plain and simple.

Keeping a chain 80+ is no small feat in itself, you need to keep in mind how long it takes to kill each mob, a general idea of how much TP players have, and what to do to keep the chain going.

Usually the Bard is off pulling another monster. You know... to keep the chain flowing. Hence why the Bard is the second option for Dispel, not the first; he/she isn't always present to be singing Magic Finale.

In a typical TP-burn party, I'm casting Refresh on myself, plus any caster jobs in DD roles (PLD, DRK, BLU), or the odd BLM or WHM (but those are vanishingly rare in TP burn parties). In addition, I'm casting Haste on everyone except the Bard, Ranger, or Corsair.

Yes, yes, all well and good. Have you actually tried main healing while keeping up 5-6 Haste/Refreshes. No, of course not. Sure, keeping up shadows is important, but some things just punch right through shadows (Crosswind, Firespit, Black Cloud, whatever). People take damage, and you have to deal with it while bleeding 150-200MP every 10 minutes between Converts just to keep up the Refresh/Haste cycle.

I've done plenty of burn parties on both RDM and BRD. RDM is much harder.

I've personally hit chain #124, so I have a pretty fair inkling of how this works. Bards and Red Mages both have to manage timers, but what makes RDM much more complex is that you also have to deal with MP conservation. Even if the Bard is using /WHM or /RDM, having your Bard at 0 MP is not going to stop your chain, but having your RDM with 0 MP and no Convert available will.

You came to this forum posting in a nutshell about "shitty red mages" if you dont like the response your getting which i believe is a very logical and good one, then maybe you shouldnt have posted.

i have been playing about a year and i have seen some truly horrible players and some insanly good ones. ive partied with so many bad drks from lvl 40-60 it was crazy. do i think all drks are bad? hell no. do i post about it in the drk forum saying "man if the drks dont get their shit together im gonna stage a national boycott against emo!" no.

i partied with bad drks, that doesnt change my outlook on drk as a very good dmg dealer and i have friends that are drks that play the job very good. you have a problem with a rdm? remember his name, mark it down, dont party with them again.

Hell in the new areas i was partying with a rank 10 jp mithra nin. and IMO that was one of the worst nin's i have ever pt with, granted it was lvl 60 but still according to your information that shouldnt have happend....im done now n.n

Its unfair to judge a job as a whole because you keep getting subpar Red Mages. Playing Red Mage right (especially in TP Burns, which Icemage was commenting on earlier) is very challenging. I can understand your frustration, but the way you expressed it was rather rude.

Well, I think I'll add in my two cents here for what it's worth, even if a lot of this post has degenerated into flames and joking.

I was PTing with an english-speaking RDM two weeks ago, and he would NOT refresh any of us, including the PLD, at level 45. The bard and I (blm) became co-main healers. Then he fake-DCd, showed back up, and warped out.

I was PTing with a JP BRD last week at level 50 or so, and he would NOT keep ballad up.

I was PTing in the Citadel with a NA brd who "was playing two characters, so he couldn't concentrate on songs."

I was PTing with a JP RDM who was very very slow on refresh and didn't cast any enfeebles at all.



I was PTing last night with a NA BRD in a manaburn who, while pulling a little slowly, was damned good. Wish my connection hadn't crapped out 5 times in a row so I could have stayed. She threnodied, pulled, slept at camp so we could sleep2 over it, and kept ballad up the whole time.

I was PTing last week with an NA RDM who kept slow, para and dispell on the mob, , refreshed me, himself and the brd, and main-healed (while brd off-healed and I emergency healed). Nin tank.

I was with a JP BRD this week in my manaburn who pulled nice and quick, threnodied, and kept ballad up. Worked beautifully, no deaths except for one fluke.

I PTd with a JP RDM who enfeebled, cured, dispelled, refreshed, and still had a little time to type in cute JP text.



Do I remember those names? You bet I do. Do I remember who not to PT with? Hell yes.

I remember when I had about 30 mp and 2 minutes to convert and the BLM had 500 mp (Thanks to a link after the NIN got blasted into second puk) and I told the rest of the party "you can pull if you don't mind the BLM main heal for that #4" and everyone else was like, "let's rest."

The only bad RDMs I met were during qufim and jungle parties. I'm on my own now being past 41. I don't care about how bad/good other RDMs are, I am only concerned about 'my' RDM. It seems like RDM is a flock job for the suck players though, if only cause refresh is the light-speed-to-75-ship.
