This may be aa sukoshi off subject, but I'm a lv 14 Taru blm and I went to the Valkurm Dunes, and I keep on getting invites that it it insane! I also do so much more dmg than all the other players (at my lv do) I'm not sure if blms get more useless at a higher lv, but I'm enjoying the time i spend in parties (as long as the WAR knows how to use provoke!) Blms Do die fast, and thier spells do cost a lot, but to me....being a taru blm is well worth the trouble! All you need to do is find a good party and there you go! I was in a party b4 and I didnt get hit once! It's kinda funny how long this Topic has been up Neways, I love my blm and all the people I party up with do too!^^

Sorry but I didnt even bother to read all the posts before me but im a level 34BLM/13WHM and I love it, I havn't died since like level 26. I find it very easy to make money, its easy to keep up with the gil to, to buy new scrolls I can find easy pt's and I chain spell all the time and I never die now because I update my armor all the time >). I deal very well in Jeuno *hint**hint*.

I die very seldom have a large friends list full of people who will ask me to party. I very seldom have spells resisted and have no gil ever. Other then my lack of gil I'm happy with BLM if you aren't play a different job.
Has more time played on AKosygin's character then he does....

pretty much its like saying we drive the same car but my car gets better gas mileage.
It's exactly like that, we drive the same car, but I shift gears, you drive around in 1st at 50mph.. breaking your car and getting shitty milage.

Other than the gross lack of gil and ridiculous cost of some spells, I find BLM to be one of the most rewarding classes in the game, next to WHM (only because you get to help people more than with BLM).

What values one class over another has nothing to do with functionality, it's play style. If you can't play your class worth a damn, then perhaps you should try your hand at another class. You seem to greatly value instant one time hit damage over that caused over time, maybe a Dark Knight or Dragoon would be more your suit. Whatever it is, don't knock a class because you have had personally poor experiance with, let everyone make their own opinion and play their own ways.

So far in this entire thread and reading through the forums, I've noticed a lot of threads where you've made a total ass of yourself, and this ones no different. As a newer person on these forums, I have a hard time believing anything you say, following a single thread of advice given by you, or even tolerating your childish behavior. As a recommendation, you sould take a long look at yourself and reevaluate your position on these forums. Currently you seem to be the local trouble maker with no more inspiration for helping others, as to just cause general mayhem. That's not what these games are about. Together, all of us FFXI players are a giant family with one purpose in mind, bettering our characters to fulfill our own inner desires. Act like a team player and more people will tend of follow your lead in life, and in gameplay.

On a point of note let me say that when you get into the 40's you may party with a mage that has Refresh. Godly angelic refresh. This gives you 3mp/tic, that comes out to 150mp in 150 seconds. Thats a lot of free BOOM BOOM.

The price of this spell has been going down on Midgard, probably because people have been doing BCNM40 and selling the scroll for cash.

If you know a redmage that you party with a lot and they don't have this by level 46. Give them a donation to buy it. Very nice spell.

Just thought i'd mention this. I'm a 42blm/21whm with +16 int from equipment i bought. It took a long time to get the 100k gil of equipment but i'd recomend it to any blm. With shock i hardly ever get resisted, and if i eat food and have a brd my int skyrockets to around +24. So.... with my int, shock, elemental weaknesses and weather conditions i do really nice damage that is hardly resisted. Also, parties love me for warp2 and escape. I've heard people say that blm get really bad later in healing. I'm sure this is the case, but right now my healing is great. With all this its funny to me when people are mad they dont do as much damage as a rng. Rng utility boils down to wide scan and not much else. With all the utility of a blm people would be mad if they did match rng in dmg. Oh yeah, helping low levels later with raise will be a blast.

Cailo, you should use Burn as well as shock, by reducing INT it increases elemental damage and reduces resists. Shock lowers MND which is for Enfeeble and Divine resists.

You'll see I pointed this out to another BLM who followed up by testing it and agreeing in the thread "Lazy's man macroing" a few threads down in case you doubt my advice

Man Fippish, thanks! I'll see if that works. I really dont know what people like bald taru are talking about. I LOVE my blm and i'm planning on going to 75 with it no matter what anyone says. I repeat for any blm out there, get ANY and ALL int equipment you can. It really makes a difference. I see a lot of blm out there my level with about +6 int. I know it takes some money, but its worth it. Get the int equipment!

well thats the thing i would go start another job but i already more then 300k in to spells, if i can sell all my spells then no problem, im accualy beyond the point of return because im at my cheap spell time. anyways back to thread, yes warp is very good it saves you alot of money over time, and alot of time, but accually other then that alot of things pisses me of about it. nothing is worst then cycling thur 50+ spells and 80% of them you havent use in 3 days.

Simple solution. Manually sort your spells so that the ones you use the most are at the top of the list. Otherwise if you know the spell name, there is nothing wrong with just typing it out.

For example I hardly need to use raise, but whenever I do, I usually just quickly type out /ma Raise <t>. That way I don't have to go digging through my spells to cast it.

Ranger's burn money on arrows and ninjas burn money on ninja tool powder. Mages are expensive but all of our cost in upfront in terms of scroll purchases.

300k? pssh. Cheap imo. I'm looking at redmage equipment that will run to to about 400k for just the next 5 levels so I can keep on top of my game.

I'm a hume rdm and blm so I don't get that super INT that taru's apparently get. I won't go into ratios per spell cost or anything but if it looks and feels like its doing the needed damage then great, you are doing the job the party needs to have done. If you have problems with blm you can always go whm/blm and be one of the most loved people in the game.

Oh well... BLM isnt the best job ever-in-the-game and neither it is the worst! It's like any others jobs! (exception whm, bards and palys)

So I think it is time to delete that thread for good. It is just bad propaganda about BLM.

BLM is a very nice addition to a pt!

Thank you Hakoon, well said. Every single class exept possibly whm and bard complain about things with their class. And the only reason they don't complain much is because they usualy get pts. All i know is that i love blm. Also, i've been farming for a while, and I usualy get 2-3 invites a day without my flag up. I'm not complaining.

It seems like you made this thread when you were lvl 40ish correct? The blm's in my pt's during those lvls were what helped us get 4-5 chains in Crawler's Nest. The dark was doing a consistent 80-100+ damage but the the blm with his Fire II, Blizzard II spells was doing around 180-200 damage and around 250 when magic bursted with threnody.
