Seriously, you think they would LISTEN to us people who have actually played the game.. but no. Just to mimic what Shiela/Awn have been saying, let me give you a little scenario.

-A level 40blm/20smn will have an EXTREMELY hard time getting a PT, odds are they will never get one at all unless a PT is desperate. Without a PT, a 40blm/20smn **might** be able to kill a level 30-35 enemy (with of course a 5 min rest period after the fight)... and thats a big maybe. Anything higher and you will be killed! And as you get to a higher level guess what, that gap will just become bigger. Do you think these monsters will give you ANY xp if you somehow manage to take one out? Nope, you will get zero xp. We're not talking about a little, were talking about NOTHING.

-A level 40blm/20whm will get a PT just as good as any of the top job combinations. In a good pt, you could be fighting monsters 6-8 levels higher then you.. maybe even 10 in extreme circumstances. We're talkin about the big boys here.

Now you talk about fun being such a 'huge' factor for you. Tell me, will it be fun to die to enemys that PT's 10 levels lower then you can kill at the drop of a hat? Doubtful. Want to be able to kill the big boys like King Behemoth or Serket? Guess what, you cant. These fights require an insane amount of strategy, theres no room for crippled characters. We're not talking about effectiveness here, its not a matter of you being ' a little bit slower then someone else '. You will, literally, get NOTHING done. And just FYI, even getting to level 40 with that combination would be a huge, huge, huge task. Have "fun"

I still don't understand why black mage/summoners wouldn't get any parties at all. Sorry, but I don't. I did see /summoners in the beta and they seemed to have parties that worked just fine. I just don't see what's wrong with having more MP to cast black magic.

You know, the thing is, there are people who have played the game who are of the same opinion as us... that opinion being, WHO CARES, i'll try out what sounds interesting, if it doesn't work, i'll change it, if it does, then cool. We're not racing to see who maxes out thier charicter first.

And there is always the possibility that those people who insist some job combos couldn't possibly work are just ahh... how to say it... using them wrong. High levels are all well and good, but there's a fair amount of technique to anything. It's possible that the niche for (back to the old example) BLM/SMN hasn't been recognized some vetrans because they're used to playing a certin way in the Jap servers, a way that might not mesh too well with such a combo. Most importers i see posting say they see many BLM/SMN... they also say that finding a party is far easier than the importers say. Perhaps the japanese attitude (and language) form a different style of play.

Of course, someone's going to say that it's simply impossible or some such... Although i've already got a fair following of people waiting for a Worldpass so they can fight beside me...

Now, correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't it just proper ettiquite for experianced players not to shout at the new people and demand they listen? I believe i've seen linkshells who say that's very important. Well, no biggie.

The MP gained by a SMN sub is not significant enough to make any difference whatsoever. Any Blackmage, even a Blm/Whm, who ONLY casts black magic is not doing their job. Besides created unwanted hate on the enemy, what would happen to your pt if you whm should die? If your blm doesnt have any curing power, Whm death = Pt death 99% of the time. Now thats just curing, whm sub is also useful for sneak/invis/raise. I often made pts in game, a blackmage that couldnt cure is useless. They can either do one of two things... overcast and generate too much hate causing there own demise, or sitting back doing NOTHING in between spells. Really, its common sense once you get in-game and see how PT's work. Take our word for it.

Bald guy, use that philosphy if you want.. I look foward to when you come back and apologize a month down the road. Go ahead, get 6 of your 'misfit' characters together and try making a PT, it'll work fine until you hit about 20 and have to head to Jueno. After that, you'll be torn apart.

I think something important to realize is that the Beta and actual game WILL function somewhat differently, based on the amount of users. I agree, in a server of 1000, support job is more important. However, I will reserve more respect for an Importer such as Sheila before any Beta tester, no offense. Supply and Demand of player type will vary and be less specific with more users, although this doesn't mean you can play terribly and expect the amount of users to make up for it.

I was beta, thank you. This person seems to be taking all of this quite personally. A world in which we all thought the same way would be a boring world. I disagree with you. Just because we dont wanna play a Black Mage the way you say we should doesn't mean we dont know how to play it 'right' as you say. Its a game! Did Square Enix say that if you wanna be a Black Mage you have to sub White Mage, or Summoner, or Red Mage? No! So as I see it don't insult people and call them stubborn because they don't do what you want them to. Until Square Enix tells me otherwise I will use whatever sub job I want and I hope everyone else does the same. PULEEZE! Its an MMORPG not an ancient egyption algebra exam! I know how the game works and Ive only played it for 2 minutes, watched it bit longer and read a bunch of websites. Anybody who has a decent amount of MMORPG experience can tell you guys to cut the crap. Your intimidating new players into thinking theres some social hiearchy and system, that when not aplied to, results in you getting your lunch money stole while being stuffed into a locker!

It doesnt take a bain surgeon to play this game. Theres really not much pride in saying you understand it and are higher level. Anybody can get there with time and fucking job combo they want. This game is about friends and fun not power and glory. Theres no glory ot be had in an MMORPG becase its such a personal community. If your a good chess player you can brag about that to people, but your level 70 in FFXI? They call social services on you to make sure your not socially withdraw and malnourished.
