multi-hit ws nerf

    As if DRG and THF didn't suck enough, they have to make them even worst. That nerf is stupid because it takes out the advantage of multi hit WS that those two jobs depend on. The other damage dealers have other options atleast.

      that's what I think it'll be...things were all fine and dandy till MNKs started spamming that asuran fist cycle...I doubt they'll completely nerf everyone, jus fix it so certian weapon classes will get a set amount of TP.

          Geez, you don't even know what this nerf is. Wait until it is implemented, and then wait to see how it effects the gameplay.

            Are you really level 70?

            Thief does not depend on multi hit WSes, and they don't suck.

              SAM sucks more than THF.

              THF gains a LOT of TP usually. [Double attack, Triple Attack...] as well as their insanely high dexterity stat, and all the added accuracy. THF/WAR is better than THF/NIN imo, also.

                I believe THF/NIN > THF/WAR, though it's a close call. The main point is that from triple to double cancels the action (or was it the other way around ). Though sometimes it is really cool and you hit like 10 times + after eachother, gives such a cool feeling.

                Anyway that's a totally different discussion than what the topic creator intended, so let's drop it.

                    It screws everyone in some way, really, but this is the death knell for Dragoons.
                    From my point of view, I have nothing left. Penta was the last thing I knew I could rely on at the end of the day. Farming, BC fights, force pop NMs', etc. It's ALL I HAVE. Now I'll be swinging once every god knows how many seconds, because my best weapon has 515 delay. Thanks Square. I'm done leveling. I'm done doing most of the every day tedius things. Now everything else I do will be tedious. I think at this stage of the game I deserve to have a few things going for me. Without Penta, Dragoons have absolutely nothing left.

                        I concur. You're all worried about a rumour at the moment. Wait till the actual patch has happened before complaining too much - besides, if everyone stops using DRG because of this, they will balance the situation later.

                        Everyone moans at how good RDM is now, but noone spares a moment to think of us poor RDMs levelling before convert and refresh The key is balance, and Square try to get everything balanced in the end. This "nerf" is likely not aimed at DRGs using penta-thrust, so I don't think they're going to screw you too hard.

                            This "nerf" is likely not aimed at DRGs using penta-thrust, so I don't think they're going to screw you too hard.
                            Assuming the proposed change is true, this will affect all multi hit WS - Penta Thrust, Skewer, Combo, Asuran Fists, Blade : whatever, Vorpal Blade, Dancing Edge, Guillotine, etc etc etc. If the change was aimed at nerfing 1 specific thing (say...monks with 999 delay fists spamming Asuran Fists...) the weapon would be changed. It is a broad unnecessary change.

                            The smart thing to do would either be A) change the problem weapons, add a constant effect of Curse or something and lower delay to a normal level since 1 dmg standard delay weapons suck so people wouldn't use those, they would only want the upgraded weapons, or to a less preferable extent B) impose a hard cap on TP gain, say 60% is the maximum you can get from any WS in return. That would be fair, and remove possibility of future exploitation of a game feature. Thats what using a 999 delay weapon spamming Asuran fists is, an exploitation of a game feature. While yes, I'd agree being able to basically spam a WS endlessly is overpowered, the solution isn't a broad sweeping change that affects everyone. As it is, DRG doesn't have a lot going for them. Part of the desireability of a DRG is being able to sustain high TP with multi hit WS without affecting renkei. Its balanced that in order to do so reliably, good equipment is needed, and even with good equipment, the damage isn't that good - group with a well equipped DRG who uses Penta between skillchains and turn other hits on. An extra Penta per fight + whatever WS you use in the skillchain likely (definately) won't do more damage than another melee's heavy hitting closing WS, and doesn't even compare to BLM damage output even with a wyvern.

                            As it is DRG has low desireability. Most people get 60, see the problems, go for another job. It won't hurt other jobs as much as they already have higher damage output with single, double, or triple hit ws, but take away Penta, all a DRG is left with is gimp damage WS and could be easily filled by a better damage job. Even as it is, Penta is balanced in using it basically always means it causes a monster to fire off a ws/special by volume of hits. Because of that a lot of times its not worth using.

                            Maybe the patch will happen, and one of the 2 aforementioned changes goes in. Either is far more preferable to the rumor. If the rumor is true...balancing DRG 2 months from now won't stop the small remaining community of DRG from quitting. People play for fun and feeling like they contribute, not frustration and wishing they hadn't wasted their time leveling a piece of shit and picked something else.

                                Yea, all the hardships levelling to our true power is forgotten in an instant, all they can see is pimpness in a red suit with a feathered chapeau.

                                What non RDMs don't realize is just how demanding our job is. With melee, you just throw on a weapon and swing away, save up TP and weapon skill. If you're a DRK, you have a few more duties with Absorb-Agil and Stun. If you're a PLD, just Flash, Cure, provoke.

                                Some people think WHM is demanding...maybe if you're a full time melee just breaking into WHM. In actual fact, WHM is just curecurecure, Haste melee, curecurecure, Regen II, curecurecure.

                                BLM is similar...nukenukenuke, magic burst, nukenukenuke.

                                Like BRD, we are the facilitators of the party. Alot goes on behind the scenes that most people tune out, or not even aware of. Refresh cycle, haste cycle, backup cures, enfeebles, Dispel, dealing with adds are the main duties, and not always in that order.

                                Anyway, back to your regular schduled rant about the nerf -_-
