Am I wrong but isn't Skewer DRGs main WS after 60?

    Skewer > Sidewinder
    Skewer > Dancing Edge

And doesn't Skewer start or end a Level 3 Light Renkei?

Penta Thrust is a good skill to spam inbetween Renkeis. Ad they did get messed up but hell focus on the Skewer picture instead of the overhyped Penta Thrust.

Also MNKs are actually going to become more useful at higher levels seeing how Subtle Blow will really help with HNMs and Bones seeing how it reduces TP given to the mob.

Wheeling Thrust starts a lv3 light renkei, not skewer. Skewer does more than penta.

Even before lv65 u can get chain4 easily without a brd, unless something like adds happens... Chain5 can be tough in some situations though

Yeah this nerf hurts farming, but not too much as far as xping goes... It's true that with some awesome +acc u could throw in some extra penta thrusts while waiting for other's tp, but a drg can already do some nice dmg w/o extra penta anyway.

If you find drgs dont do nice normal dmg chances are that drg does not have the good equipment such as the +atk gears.

The real damage comes not from your WS' but from the damage done by Black Mages (and sometimes others in party) by doing Magic Burst with the skillchains.

That's why I like having SAM in party; plenty of freedom with skillchains......

I think this change forces people you use SC's and MB's instead of solo spamming WS's.

At least 65+ you get to create level 3, but before that, most melee depend on their multi-hit ws, and more importantly, their TP return. They just made it a whole lot harder to exping then it already. This game is even more retarded then it used to be.
No you don't even need multihits in pre 65, as for now we're doing about 1k real DMG on an IT Mob and 1.3k with BLM. Mob was down pretty easy.

                150 (WAR) + 500 (THF) + 350 (Distortion) + 300 MBurst.

Ok, was only an IT Fly on an IT Beetle (i hate these mob) it was about 1k in total.

Yea, you know just like they always did. Skillchains were never not worth it, far from it, and spamming WS was only ever worth it to RNG for Sidewinder and MNK with Asuran Fists fighting bones. All the change did was take any remote skill out of being a good player who took care of their equipment who used that to add more sustained damage without disrupting the flow of the party. In short, being a melee, especially a DRG, is 99% more tedious. I can skillchain in my sleep, tp management actually required a degree of attention and timing in order to not slow up your party.

And specifically related to DRG, due to the LOW damage of our high end WS, Penta *was* the only way to up the bar a bit. As it was DRG had semi low damage weapons and semi low damage weapons skills that weren't augmented enough by equipment, which again kept the damage semi low. If you honestly think a wyvern is enough compensation, you do not have an iota of the concept of class balance in games.

Being able to get more TP back from Multi-hit WS allowed for easier TP management, not harder. It you get less TP, you have to manage(decided more carefully) when to use your WS. It's just like if you get fired from a job. You have to cut back your spending, and only use it when you need to.

On another note, I think S-E is trying to slow things down at the high end. They don't want to raise the level cap yet, so they need to find ways to keep subscriptions until they can figure out how to balance the jobs post 75.

                    Be like a Paladin.

Without the tp return to let you ws more often it is now a matter of per-hit damage and per-ws damage. Drg is shafted on both.

Obviously with low hit WS it wasn't really possible to do extra ws in a fight unless the fight simply went on that long. Otherwise it was get 100%, do skillchain, and your time of activity is done for the fight. No real thought involved since the option isn't really there. Regardless Penta could be a gamble cuz it was hard to land all 5 hits unless your gear was great, and even with great equipment the random number generator could shaft you.

With Penta being crap now, Wheeling Thrust needs to be fixed, it's the 2nd crappiest 225 WS now, Full Break being the first since there's hardly any mobs that are weak to Earth, and the only time you ever use it is when you're eating xp in Onzozo. >.> Then again, at least WARs have Mistral Axe to make up for it, DRGs? Heh, Spirit Taker?

Sadly I've seen Full Break consistantly outdamage Wheeling Thrust. At least Full Break has side debuff effects which are noticeable =/ And yea, Mistral Axe is damn sweet too. While Full break may not be a strong damage ws, it has utility, and WAR doesn't have to use it as a crutch when exping for more than 1 level at best (even then, likely wouldn't use it anyway).

Being able to raise the cap on your subjob to 75% of your main-job level when you hit 75 on a job would do this quite easily, especially if you had to pick up the uncaps in 5% increments (and putting the uncaps in fights against lv80+ NMs... which you can't bring alliances into... wait, that last bit is kinda stupid, isn't it?)

This would probably lead to people going with ridiculously overpowered dual-mage combos, though (whm75/blm56? Yeah, that'd get real popular; same goes for, quite possibly, subbing Beastmaster), or maybe subbing Monk just to throw in kicks.

And to really make people want (?) to keep subscriptions... they have to re-uncap subjobs for EACH main job they use. (Ouch.)

This would buy SE a year or so to think of new nerfings to use, and to fix some of the broken jobs...
