multi-hit ws nerf

    i hear if you're a really good rdm, you'll do more than just refresh. but overall, a rdm is just used for convert, and refresh, so i really dont think you have it that hard unless you put it on yourself to be a great rdm.

    as for everyone else, wait until the changes are made, then i suggest everyone and i mean all dragoons and samurai mains, to send an e-mail to S-E with "FIX DRG AND SAM high lvl" as the subject, and rant on and on.

    I dont really thnk that ranting in a non-official forum is going to get you far, esp if you're ranting about something that hasn't even happened yet. We still don't know for sure HOW they're going to fix the tp system, or if they'll even make changes to the mulit hit ws instead of relic weapons. They just said it was regarding multihit ws etc.

    So hold on to your shorts....or panties and rant if things go down the drain AFTER the update.

      From a SAM POV, this is a great update if the proposed TP nerf on multi-hit WS is true~

      Sure I'll lose penta, but all other classes will have even more problems gaining tp.

          How exactly can this be good for anyone? If the other jobs have problem gaining TP, this mean that YOU cannot renkei with them. Which mean more waiting. Making your ability to gain TP faster pretty much useless in a party.

            i really dont know what im going to do if they nerf Multi hit WS really bad. PLaying as an Elvaan has limited me (not totally but you get the idea) to playing Melee characters. I have had alot of fun playing as a Dragoon but if they nerf Pentra Thurst, Skewer, and the classic Double Thrust im going to have to start al over as another job. Maybe RDM/NIN, PLD/WAR, Or RNG/SOMETHING. Im pretty much down to those. I feel even more sorry for all the Galka Monk's out there who are even more limited when it comes to playing Magic classes.

            Look at all the classes at will be taking a hit when Multi HIt weapon skills are nerf (if its bad), this list includes but is not limited to.....

            DRG
            MNK
            DRK
            SAM

            there goes the melee damages dealing in the game......

              Anyways, whining aside

              Wheezing makes the important point. It's not the TP system so much as the poor function of the relic knuckles. It's the only weapon that breaks the current system. Everything feels fairly balanced as it is now. Only the fact that the relic knuckles doesnt function as a D1 weapon do to the nature of martial arts weapons is what is causing the current concern. Adding a broad nerf rather than fixing the single item that breaks the system, is a heavy handed tactic that can only ruin a game. I think they should do one of two things already mentioned here:

              1. Change the relic knuckle's function in some way.

              2. Change how TP gathers at the highest ends of the equation, but leave the lower ends alone. They feel fairly balanced since the last TP changes were made (I started after that patch, but I feel that this system works fairly well across the board).

                No class really depends on multi-hit WS's to do bulks of damage more than DRG. DRK's power comes mostly from cross/spin, MNK comes from howling/double dragon kick, etc. DRG's primary damage comes from penta, and without it they're pretty much boned.

                Anyhow, with all do respect, I think Aya's source is wrong. I've heard from a "reliable source" before that genkai 4 was a 1on1 BC fight vs your mog... XD

                They said that the "issue" involving TP return with those weapons would be "corrected." They didn't say "multi-hit WS TP return" would be "nerfed" or "reduced in power." Chances are they'll probably just change the way it's counted so that no one else notices a difference, but it can't be exploited anymore with those relic counters. As far as I'm concerned, it was never an "issue" that needed to be "corrected" until those grapples came out. "Corrected" means brought back to normal ^^

                    DRG does seem to be the hardest hit, with Penta and even Skewer returning much less TP. MNK won't suffer a whole lot as they gain TP quickly anyway. DRK will care about it for the 60-65 range, but after that forget there was ever a problem anyway.

                    The worst part is that we will likely have to figure out the change ourselves, as SE dosen't reveal barely any of the mechanics and formulas as to how things work....

                      Not sure if anyone has seen the Ballista video but the MNK Destiny you follow around does a Raging Fists on some other player. By the rumored formula the max TP you could get back if all hits connect is 10 (6+4 hits). She gets back 12 TP and does a measely 193 damage. It leads me to believe that she only connected 2 hits returning back 12 TP. I seriously think things won't change because the video was on a test server with the latest patch judging by the fact that they had the Ballista event and the new Triumph emote (raising your weapon in the air). I hope at least.

                          Couldn't agree more. If it was a bug all along, why has it taken them this long to fix it? I'm guessing they will fix the way relic weapons work in WS and everything else will stay the same. If not, there still is a chance they will buff up the dmg on the mult-hit WS to make up for it. After all, they never released the full list or any details.

                          Now S-E, release the patch already! It's making us all go crazzy.

                            One note to the group saying its about the relic knuckles....

                            Why would they SPECIFICALLY name Penta Thrust (right after combo) if it was ONLY knuckles being modded? Last time I checked, pentathrust was a polearm skill, lol.

                            Also, do you think SquareEnix would come right out and call it a 'nerf'. Thats a community slang term. "Correcting" sounds more politically correct. Like when taxes go up, they call it a 'rate-adjustment' not 'bend over and smile' like they should.


                            Something tells me this patch could be a game maker/breaker for a lot of people. Conflict + a potential major nerf? hmmm......

                              Probably because you can endlessly spam Penta with the Dynamis lance. Granted the damage would be atrocious, I mean utterly awful using a 1 dmg weapon. I think MNK was getting 17% tp with the fists after Martial Arts reductions so guessing with the lance could get 20%ish...don't know first hand.
