  • Hi again, everyone! ^^ When I woke up the next morning, Wilber told me over the linkshell that he was coming to Jeuno, and asked I wanted to come with him to Qufim for training. I don't think I've mentioned here in my journal, but Wilber has dedicated himself to the path of the Ninja, and has all but forsaken the ways of the Thief. (OOC: He still keeps THF as his subjob, though). We met up at Port Jeuno, near the home point crystal gate, and made our way to Qufim to look for a group of adventurers to join. Here's a couple shots of us sitting at the end of the tunnel leading to the island (notice the beastmen's flag in the first pic; the beastmen were in control of the Qufim region at the time, but Windurst was in the process of taking it back, and we'll no doubt have it under our control by the next tally ):

At one point while we were waiting, a Beastmaster came by with a Clipper that he had charmed and made it fight a Dancing Weapon. I thought it was amusing, so I took a picture of it.

It took quite awhile, but we finally found a group to join, and we starting taking on Land Worms near the entrance to the tunnel (we would have gone to fight by the lake at the center of the island, but it was night, and that when Wights and Banshees come out, and they're way too dangerous to be around). Here are a few pics:

You might notice that I have new claws equipped in these pics; they're a pair of Cougar Baghnakhs that I bought at the Auction House in Jeuno. They're enchanted, and sometimes conjure up icicles to attack the enemy when I attack, which is very fun. ^^ So anyway, after awhile, it got really crowded in Qufim (OOC: my computer was not happy about this), and we had to leave for the night.

The next day, I met up with another group and we trained for awhile at Qufim. I was satisfied with my strength for the moment after a few hours of fighting, so I bid them farewell and headed back to Windurst to make enough money that I could afford a set of Beetle equipment. I did this while training as a Monk, and I think I got a bit stronger in the process. Well, this is all for this entry (mule entry will be directly follwing this one). Enjoy! ^^

    • OOC: Okay, here's the deal. I probably won't be posting things with my mule much, since it is just my mule, but when I do, they won't be in character at all. So even if I don't mark them OOC, they still are. For any who don't know, a mule is an additional character one makes for extra item storage space and/or to sell more things on the Auction Houses at any given time. So anyway, here she is. Her name is Jurinrin, and she's a female Tarutaru White Mage who currently resides in Windurst. (I might move her to San d'Oria, Bastok, or Jeuno in the future). I took a bunch of pics of her on the character-making menu, because she just did so many cute poses. ^^

The first thing I did with her after the intro stuff was buy a lilac at the Auction House and give it to Ohja Rhawash so I could use the Mog House shortcuts. Here's a cute pic I took of little Ojha-chan being incredibly happy and cute. ^^

And here's a pic of Juri-chan fighting a Tiny Mandragora just outside of Windurst:

      • What's this? Another entry, so soon?! Fear not, my friends, you're not hallucinating. I really have updated again already, however short the entry may be.

After waking up the next morning, I checked my delivery box, and sure enough, a bunch of my stuff had sold on the Auction House. I took the gil and purchased a new Beetle Harness, a pair of Beetle Mittens, a pair of Beetle Subligar, and a Beetle Mask with the money (the Auction House was out of Beetle Leggings at the time). I then made my way to Jeuno on chocobo (after accepting a supply quest to Qufim from the War Warlock at Leviathan's Gate). Here's a pic I took of myself in my new equipment in my Rent-a-Room in Jeuno:

Once at Jeuno, Wilber and I arranged a group of linkshell members to train at Qufim. At first the group was to consist of me, Wilber, Otiluke, Neigel, and Deniro, but Deniro had to help his friend with a quest, and so we had to find two more people. Otiluke found a Red Mage and a Black Mage to join us, and we headed to the base of Delkfutt Tower to fight Clippers. Here are a few pics of the fights (OOC: we made great exp; I got 5000+, and made it to lvl 22 ^^):

We had lots of fun while training, and the linkshell was pretty active too, which added up to an overall great time. ^^ Eventually, though, all good things must come to an end, and Neigel and I had to leave. We made our way back through Qufim and got to our Rent-a-Rooms, where I promptly fell asleep after bidding my linkshell good night. And that's all for this entry; until next time, enjoy! ^^

          • OOC: Okay, well, today is the 30th, so theoretically, the images should be up again on Thursday. Until then, the images will have to remain down. If they're still down on Thursday, I'll get to work moving them to another server.

            • OOC: Okay, changed my mind again. I was bored in school today, and moved all of my pics over to a new Photobucket account. Now whenever one runs out of bandwidth, I can switch to the other one. Now I've just gotta change all the links in my previous posts. I'm gonna start with the most recent posts and work my way back. Hopefully it'll all be back up soon. ^^

I posted this in an earlier entry, but I'll post it again here for convenience's sake:

                  Relevant Computer Specs:
                  Processor: Pentium 4, 2.53 GHz
                  RAM: 512 MB
                  Video Card: GeForce4 MX 440, 128 MB

                  FFXI Settings:
                  MIP Mapping: Off
                  Overlay Graphics Resolution: 1024x768
                  Background Resolution: 1024x1024
                  Texture Compression: Uncompressed
                  On-screen Maps: Uncompressed
                  Bump Mapping: Off
                  Environmental Animation: Smooth

With these settings, I occasionally get a little lag, but I think that has more to do with a laggy connection than my computer. The only places with real lag are when there's a lot going on on-screen (like at the AH or in alliance battles). I use FRAPs to take screenshots, which it saves as 1024x768 .bmp files. Since these are rather large, I use Photoshop to shrink them to 640x480 (I also use a Gaussian Blur with a 7 pixel radius to blur out anything like names of other players, since some see this as rude) and save them as JPEGs with as high an image quality as my image host will allow (I can't have images over 250 KB : /).

Okay, so anyway guys, I'm gonna get back on putting the rest of the images back up, since I have nothing better to do in school (seriously, I really don't!).

                      • OOC: Okay, all the images are back up, as you all can see. Hopefully we won't have a problem like this again. In other news, today I'm planning to take on the Bastok dragon for Rank 3. Wilber's going to be helping me, and Malakai might make it, too. Other than that, we'll see. So the next entry should be very interesting, and probably filled with spoilers.

OOC: Now that's odd. They were definitely down... my image host even told me so, not to mention I looked at them from 3 different computers and saw the same "bandwidth exceeded" image in place of everything on all of them. I was even told by people on my LS's forum that they were down, since I use the same host to store images for that site, too. I must have fixed them before you looked at it, because I don't see any other way they could have been working for you.

Okay, so Wilber had promised that he would help me with the second part of my diplomatic mission from Windurst to the other two nations awhile back. I decided that it was time for me to get on with it, and we set off looking for some help, as I expected there to be some major resistance in the Palborough Mines near Bastok (which is where I was asked to go by Bastokan officials). It was apparently a Quadav stronghold, on par with Giddeus or Ghelsba, the Yagudo and Orc strongholds, respectively. I had little doubt that I'd have to go fairly far in, and typically, the farther you go into a beastman stronghold, the stronger the beastmen you find will be. We asked around our linkshell to see if anyone wanted to help, and Wagoose and Malakai volunteered. (Wagoose is a warrior, and Malakai is a dark knight.) We figured that we still needed a healer, so Wilber asked around town. He found a Tarutaru white mage, who brought along a ninja friend of his. We decided that this group was sufficient, and headed off to Bastok.

When we got there, we stopped at the town to gear up and prepare, then headed off to the Palborough Mines in the northwest corner of North Gustaberg. We headed through the mines, taking out the occasional Quadavs that picked fights with us. Looking at our magic maps, we noticed a burn mark that hadn't been there when we bought them. This confused us for a moment, but then I thought of something. Since these maps were magic, maybe they were reacting to a strong magical source that was located at the spot on them that had burned. This explanation seemed to fit, and so we decided to head to that area of the map, since that was no doubt where we would find the teleporter that the Galka in Bastok had told me about.

We reached the Burning Circle, as we had named it (after the way it burned our maps), and stepped onto it tentatively.

We were telported into a similar looking room, whereupon we saw a beastman of some sort talking with a female samurai, whom I assumed was a Mythril Musketeer from Bastok. He spouted some nonsense about how the beastmen were going to take over the world, and then sunmmoned some sort of huge dragon!

The samurai tried to attack the dragon, but it swiped her aside, and she hit the ground, unconscious. At this point, we rushed in to take this dragon out and save the woman. The odds seemed against us, but we were determined to win. Our white mage cast Protectra and Shellra, and then Wilber shouted a battle cry, signaling us to charge the beast.

We charged in and took out Seeker (the flying eyeball thing) first. He was pretty weak, and he quickly fell to the relentless attacks of me, Wilber, Wagoose, and Malakai. We then joined our ninja partner in fighting the dragon (he had been distracting it while we took out Seeker). With all of us there, the dragon was no match. Near the end of the battle, our ninja friend used Mijin Gakure, a self-destruct move. This sacrifice brought the dragon down, and the ninja contacted us from Windurst Woods, assuring us that he was fine and that he just did that as a quick way back to Windurst. :p

After we defeated the dragon, Seeker got up shakily and spoke to us. Lion walked into the room (I think I have a crush on her *giggleblushpurrrrr*) around this point.

After Seeker finally keeled over and died, we went over and helped the samurai women. She identified herself as Ayame of the Mythril Musketeers.

She left, and Lion soon followed, so we decided to head out too. We took a boat we found in the mines to the Zehrun Mines in Bastok, then split up and headed our seperate our seperate ways. I went straight to the Windurstian Consulate and made my report. Patt-Pott, the consulate, thought it was quite amazing that I survived such an encounter, and told me that he would make sure that the officials back in Windurst knew that. He was a rather nice person. ^^

My report made and my mission finally finished, I headed back to Windurst and gave my report to Kupipi, the cleric at Heaven's Tower. She gave me an Adventurer's Certificate (which said that I was an official adventurer in all three nations), 3000 gil, and promoted me to Rank 3!

And that's all for this entry. Look forward to the next one soon! Until then, enjoy! ^^

That fight was hell for me because our whm d/c right at the beginning of the fight and we still somehow won with no one with healing abilities .
