Well I have gotten more good ore with the full Field gear then I had with out it. Last night in three hours on 48 picks I obtained 7 darksteel ores, 3 gold ore 3 colored rocks, and enough silver ore to make 6 ingots, mad 9 brass ingots, 5 tin ingots 3 steel ingots 8 iron ingots and 15 copper ingots. I do believe moon phase has some what of a facter to play but that may be just my luck at the time. The night the moon was at 5% I hardly got any darksteel or colored rocks got lots of pebbles and broken picks. but the night the moon was at 86% was when I had the previous amount of ores from one run. and that was on 60 picks and 3-4 hours of time. I stay mining longer due to 50 slots avaiable and making the ores I can to ingots from my crafting skills.

I have something to say about mining in Zeruhn. since im low lvl i go there to mine and yes you are right it is overcrowded most of the time but ive found a way to get around that. If it is over crowded just run around main area(the big square room) while everyone else is running ALLLL over the mine looking for spots. IMHO that makes you see mining spots more frequently

**This is specifically to people who have mined in Ifrit's Cauldron**

Alright, I went to Ifrit's Cauldron today.

I don't have a map so I just wandered around.

I ran into a Volcanic Gas and a "Flame Sprout" (wall of fire) and I was like "I think that will kill me" so I didn't go that way.
- Can I actually walk through the fires and thats where mining points are?

I also hear that mining points are mainly in the caves instead of open areas?
- Can anyone confirm / deny

Also, how many levels are there in Ifrit's because I got killed before I found one mining point...

ive been very curious about Mining and wanted to start it up and a side income since I'm in desperate need of money..I just had a few questions however:

- what skills do you need to start up mining? do you have to be skilled in any of the guilds?

- where can the axe's and such be purchased? I know that may sound newb like but I've never gotten the chance to ask anyone.

- can someone give me an estimate on prices the ore's sell for? the more common ones that people usually find on good runs, such as platinum, gold, silver, etc? it'd be much appreciated.

I believe pickaxes are cheapest at BASTOK MINES DISTRICT where in a shop you can buy it for around 200 gil depending on fame.

No guilds are required to mine.

Prices of ores will vary depending on server; not to sure of the price on Valefor right now.

The cheapest you can get pickaxes are from the NPC in Bastok for 180 a piece, but you'll need high level Bastok fame for that. I believe at least level 7.

Just a side note, ppl, please stop mining platinium for a while, especially on valefor. The prices of platinium went from 30k a month ago to 11k now, a friend even told me that he saw the prises dropping to 4k once...

I put all my ores in Bazzar with exact current price, then I heard a shout "Selling Zine ore, Silver , Iron , Darksteel ..... half price as AH " , I was liek "wtf he is doin !!!!, this mother f***** gonna ruin the market."

This has been repeated everyday to me . I ALWAYS break first 4 axes without digging up anitin , next tries always dig up pebles or Tins AND break axes .

Incase you didnt know, you can grow all the ores by gardening.. which might be another reason ore prices have been dropping at a dramatic rate at the AH. You can grow all the ores, gold, Orchil, plat, .. and even adamatanium, etc.

Im starting to think this might be a good time to lvl up on goldsmithing and Smithing, since the competition is bringing down the price

on a regular day I can usually average about 40k or so. about seven regular unique ores and a random number of raw ore


But a regular day takes about 3 trips mainly because I run out of pickaxes fast in yughott grotto.and yeah I do have the field gear. full Worker's tunica is awesome though almost never breaks.

Around what level do you have to be to not get aggro in Ifrit's Cauldron?

Volcanic Gas stops aggro at level:
Dodomeki
Many types of goblems
Sulfur Scorpion
etc
etc

you'll even get aggro with lvl75. sneak & invisible is a must and since there are some mobs that aggro to magic, you should have some prism powder and silent oil too.

Ok here is my 2 cents on Ifrits Cauldron.


This is by the THE best mining spot there is in the game, but with huge rewards come huge dangers. If you care about your levels, do NOT come here, i REPEAT DO NOT COME HERE. This is what is going ot happen to you..................you will die............you won't get anything and yo uwill be pissed, then since you got nothing and died you will want something to make up for lost XP and you will go again and die again...........its really frustrating, so if you care about your level then dont' come here. On the other hand once you get that adaman ore, it feels REALLY good!! Adaman ore is really rare though, sometimes i mined like 5 hours a day and it took me 2 days to get one sometimes its more often. Also once you get there for the first time expect to die A LOT especially if you don't knwo where mining points are, also there is a lot of competition here sometimes too especially during japanese pick arounds. So decide what do you want more XP or money.......and i guarantee you, you will lose a good amount of XP here before you get used to everything and even then you will die sooner or later. At the same time you can make some really good money here. Bombs SUCK by the way, they have a REALLY REALLY huge aggro ranger.
