Nobody's gonna tell you where MiningPoints are. That's every miner's secret.

It's as simple as that. If you have a way to earn money, are you gonna spit it at the forums so that it gets totally screwed up? You won't, right? That's why.

I bought 2 field items one worker item and 3 stacks of pickaxes which are sold in bastok in the shop behind the AH in Bastok Mines for 180gil a piece (depends on fame).

I went to palborough mines and mined. First i had no mining points and it costs me hours and hours to cartography the points. When i went out i had still 8 pickaxes and all my inv was full of mytril, iron, zinc and silver ore (i throw away copper and tin).

It worked for me, but i think it was notworth the time i spend there. So ill sold my field items and will come back the day where i can afford all 3 worker items.

Ill go and post maps with mining coordiantes in palborough tomorrow.

You cant buy the map. You actually gotta open up a chest there and be lucky to get the map. And that means killing a lot of monsters there and hopefully getting the Ifrit's chest key (or being a high level thief and using picklocks there, but you'll need lvl 60+ to open these anyways).

Plus you'll get killed in 2 hits (or less) there. I've been killed 5 times already and no signs of mining points.

Believe me, palb is much safer and a lot better EXP-wise ('cause at ifrit's you're assured to leveldown almost constantly :D). Plus platinums are yummy!! :D

Anyway, do as you want, if you love to get killed for no reason, go to fei'yin, ifrit's, boyahda, etc. you'll have a great time hehehe

              ^^

                okay heres my story

today me and a 28 whm friend went to ifrits cauldron
i was afraid i might die so i used 20 war instead of my mnk
anywho we go and everything aggroes by sight except for the bats during night time... so we invis around and see a MINING POINT...
EUREKA!!! you would think... then i pickaxe it... i get a flint stone... pick axe breaks... friend gets aggroed by Volcanic Gas... she dies... i get aggroed by bats because they aggro to sound.. and then well thats about it... my 20 war is now 19... grr

so parki is right.. dont mess with ifrits cauldron unless your uber high

As long as you take some sneak/invis potions along your fine in ifrit's. Only time i died was when i went afk to get a drin and invis dropped >.< To get the mining point, you gotta go wayyyyywayyywayyyy down and get thru some flame barrier. Takes a while.

For the last several days I haven't been able to play for more then an hour at a time so I have been going to the grotto and making 10k a day after pick expenses. Not bad I must say.

well though my mining venture in Gusgen Mines was rather short...

i got a free Teleport-Dem and decided.. hell why not mine in gusgen for 10 min cus i have to leave anyways
and so i go in and see a mining point ( this is past bogys and jellys and such so i dont recommend under lvl 30 miners) ok cool another mining point... better not get another flint stone but to my suprise with 2 pickaxes i got 2 silver ores and 1 tin ore
not sure if silver a lot but for 1 mining point that took me less than a couple of minutes to find is rather good in my opinion..

ill post up a story for palbourough next...

Ifrits is gonna be the best, yea, but if you have competition there it's sometimes not worth the risk, as theres a very small area that most people run around to get all the points. There are maybe 6-7 points that dont spawn in that area, and they are far apart, so alot of times risking your life for that ever elusive flint stone isent worth it..

                          I've never mined in Yughott,
but Gusgen is worth the time it takes to get there and get back, imo.

I usually get 2 darksteel and a crap load of iron per trip.
Even when I don't get the ore I'm looking for (like my last trip),
I always make a good profit (and a relatively fast one, iron and darksteel sell VERY quickly.)

NM hunting is annoying and disgustingly time consuming
for something that can be so easily stolen, wasting the time spent
(I might try quu domi and mee deggi again,
but I?fm still pissed about my VE loss,
never even FOUGHT the damned thing
and I had been waiting for 6 hours. ><)

I have not yet gotten to the point where my crafts don't eat money, still lvling.

Mining is consistent at least, and the field equips are very close to paying for themselves.
                          Rude, but not wrong. ;x

Personally I find Yughott Grotto to be a pretty bad mining spot. In full mining gear you will break a lot of picks out there; however, I have managed a yellow rock, darksteel and gold there, so it isn't a complete waste of effort. To be frank, until you're a high level (40-50+), the best place to mine is probably Zeruhn Mines because the Mining Spots spawn very quickly and crank out quite a bit of iron ore. Around 40-50 you ought to head over to Gusgen (get a map) and try your luck there. You'll find a fair bit of darksteel and other valuables there without catching too much aggro. Around 60-70 (><) you *might* be able to survive Ifrit's Cauldron- which is where the real money's at. I hear tell that level 75s frequently get aggro in the Cauldron so that should give you a feel for how nasty it is. You'll certainly want to have Worker's Gear, not Field Gear there. The 5 total points of defense that Field Gear gives you ain't gunna be pretty in the Cauldron. Granted, niether will the Worker's Gear, but it will certainly give you an edge up.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. I hope I have given you some semblance of assistance.

Oh and one other thing, it pays back to get your fame up in all the cities (or at least your favorite one) because with my fame at 6/10 (or thereabouts) in Sandy, I get pickaxes at 186 a piece... It's rather nice.

palbourough mines has its ups and downs... the mining is rather shallow during peak hours but i get a chance to wake up early and mine so its not that bad for me... not many people are mining at 4 am...

anyways the palbourough mining is rather good and its very consistent... with 2x12 pickaxes you can more than fill your inventory if you have field gear...

on one trip i brought around 15 pick axes and mined
                              2x mythril
                              7x iron
                              3x zinc
                              7x silver

i mined up some pebbles and coppers and tins but i threw those away i left with 3 pickaxes left so i used 12 axes total
pretty good run id say but i was dissapointed about not finding and platinum ores

I've now got a very consistent system going where I bring 24 picks to the grotto and mine there until they are all broken. With only 15 spaces for ore it fills up pretty fast but if I don't leave until all 24 picks have been used and throw out the least valuable ore I get (zinc) I will always be rewarded eventually with at least one piece of gold or darksteel. I never walk out of there with less then 8-10k of profit in my pocket after pick costs.
