For the record, lazy bards don't even use requiem

And I'm not sure if someone pointed it out or not, but "haijin" is not "FFXI slang," it simply means cripple. Which makes perfect sense if you think about it, in EN or JP.

We'll see. On Midgardsormr we are already competing with the lower level Hnm's and gearing up towards KB/Fafnir (And yes, we know what we are in for). One more month and we should be farming those two and plowing through dynamis.

Big thing that is bugging me is the latency issues. We are losing provokes on serket/behemoth etc. because the JP LS has a quicker ping to the servers. Its pretty crappy when you are fielding 16 players and they are fielding 5 and beating you to the spawn because they see it 2 seconds before you.

And honestly, most of the NA's that will be competing against the JP Hnm LS's have had years of experience with EQ/Daoc/AC/AO/Ragnarok Online. So your dedication/organization arguments are moot.
        Screw this game.

Why do I get the feeling that as more NA players get to end game levels this latency issue is going to come up more and more. Is there even anything square and do about it besides move some servers over (which I highly doubt will happen)?

If this does turn out to be a factor that does affect HNM hunting then obviously NA player won't be able to compete with Haijins on the same level.

I've yet to see a single NM camped in Seraph. Heck, LL is NEVER camped.

Ragnarok Online.... That game took no skill whatsoever, Peco Knights with Counter Attack owned everything. I forgot, what was that one badass MVP's name? He looked like a demon, when they opened Glast Heim there were mini ones of him?

Come to South Gustaberg during the evening, especially on a weekend, if you want to see Lizzy camped.

Trust me, people camp for LL on Seraph. Probably not as much as other servers though.

Well, the JP have had almost 2 years of experience hunting HNMs. So gee, I wonder who'll be better at hunting HNMs :/

With all due respect, there's nothing terribly difficult about beating a monster in a video game. No one has ever designed a complicated enough encounter in an MMORPG that you'd have to be a genius to figure out a win strat. And NA players can always steal JP strategies to bring themselves up to par in terms of information. Such is the disadvantage the JPs face themselves in; they already figured out the encounters, but they can't conceal their activities (with the exception of Dynamis, but so many people can go on a Dynamis raid that you have to question whether they'd all keep quiet).

                        Equipment? Not even an issue.

No, the difficulty will be organization, making people do what you tell them to do in the appropriate ways to win. THIS is where JP experience lies; after you've done a particular HNM (or uber encounter in any game of choice) you often "get it down." You no longer need to be told what to do as often. How fast the NA players equal or exceed their JP equivalents is determined by how many people they can bring to bear on an encounter and how well they can organize them. If you have a smart leader who has seen a working encounter and can make people do what they need to do, beating a HNM wouldn't be all that hard if you have the people to do it.

As this is largely a matter of having a sufficient number of people receptive to this playstyle and a sufficient number of leaders to coordinate them, I don't think there's any way to say when this will happen. On some servers, it may never happen. On others, it will happen far sooner than anyone thinks.

There are HNM LS people that constantly go after HNMs no matter what time of day, and can gather enough people to fight it within 10-15min of sighting. Others have lots of good/expensive equipment that the average person doesn't have. Even I was called a haijin by some people

By the way, haijin is more of an insult, and not every current Jpn player is a HNM killer. The hardcores are a pretty small population compared to the total server. Most of the people on my server who are considered hardcore haijins are not well liked for various reasons. :p

Thank you for supporting your argument with evidence, explaining why these HNMs are vastly different from high-end encounters in every MMORPG, rather than patronizingly disputing the claim without proof.

I didn't come here to prove anything. I just came here to say you're wrong. Go find out yourself how they're different.
