    Yep, the bookshelf bug is ancient and has yet to be fixed.

    If you open it and exit without doing anything it may eat your books.
    If you take a book directly without opening it... it may eat your books.
    If it isn't full and books have one of those weird physics glitches and fall off the bookshelf after loading... it may... eat your books.

    Modders have resorted to disabling opening bookshelves altogether until the (GE)CK is out and they can finally see if they can fix them themselves. <_<;

    PS > For the record one of my bookshelves in Riften suffered the same fate, which is also the time I actually found out about the bug but wasn't willing to toss all the hours I had already spent playing after the bug happened. So the cursed bookshelf of doom had to stay. <_<;

    Ah... I bet you that you hit the nail on the head, Ray. I found the Lover stone and haven't found any other stones really worth replacing those bonuses.

    Very true. Yet I think Ray proly figured it out. I am a little annoyed that one of my bookshelves in my Markarth home is glitched. Can't add books. Can't take/read any that are on the shelf. Probably never going to be resolved. I honestly haven't ran into many bugs at all. Course I'm on the 360 version and from what I gather that seems to be the more stable of the console versions.

    Or he's got the Lover Stone blessing, in which case you can't get Well rested bonuses because you already have them permanently. <_<;

    It used to be in older TES games that you went to bed to level up... because, you know, that totally makes sense.

    When they changed that in Skyrim, they decided to apply skill bonuses for resting instead, which actually does make some sense. If you own the bed, you apparently sleep even more comfortably, even if you have a freeloader like Lydia around eating up all your food or watching you while you sleep.

    There's also an extra bonus if you go to bed with your spouse, though I imagine the bonus to that might be better if you choose to sleep with your real life spouse rather than stay up all night playing Skyrim.

    Yeah... I tried sleeping in my Markarth home and I probly slept for 30min RL and still didn't get any resting bonus. Sleep in another random bed? ... I'm not looking to get diseased, Ray!!!

    But I think I know what it is now. You only get resting bonuses if you sleep in a bed you actually own. Rentals and free don't count.

    Never mind, that only applies to Well rested status...

    I've started the Companion story but got only far enough to get a Skyforge dagger (or w/e) from their Armor Smith. I never went beyond that. Have I gone too far in and am possibly becoming a moon puppy?

    I've drank my fair share of Cure Disease potions so I don't think I have a current infection... hilarious about those though... my girlfriend saw that I had been diseased and totally jumped the conclusion I had been getting virtua-nooky. I have not yet tried to figure out how marriage and the 'social' aspects of Skyrim even happen. When I said I proly got it from a bear... it only made it sound worse =/

    Neverslip, either you completed the Companions storyline or you caught a disease. Other than that you are able to get resting bonuses even if you haven't slept for months.

    Spoilers?

    I never knew about them either... but apparently when you sleep in a bed you get a bonus of some kind. I went way too long w/o going to sleep and now I can't get the bonus or something. I've slept for many days and never gotten the bonus.

    I'm not sure what you're refering to with the "Well Rested bonus" for skillups. What's this?

    I just co-oped with a Dragon. he was nice and helped me kill five Ice Mages.

    Sadly, like the end of Double Dragon, we had to fight each other and I put him down.

    Now I must enter Morvunskar to resolve this one-night stand with some dude in Markarth after some drinks. I though breaking out of prison there with the Forsworn was bad enough, but when I came home Ysolda knew about the whole affair and was none-too-happy about it. Said I bought a ring of her to marry him, which is awkward, because she's my wife and she sold it to me anyway. Then the dude promised me to a Hagraven... ew. What the hell is up with this quest.

    Never drinking in Markarth again.

    I guess I'm too much of a "geek", but they really didn't get Skyrim at all. I mean I wasn't expecting "Arrow in the knee" jokes or Dovah puns, but come on, "I'm high-five Trooooll" isn't even kindergarten level.
