I just hope I can get my collector's edition from Amazon or something, because I really and truly do not want to have to deal with GameStop to get my CE goodies. Unfortunately they are the only brick and mortar video game distributor in town, so unless ArenaNet's going to partner with an online distributor for this, I might be screwed.

They remind me of the guys in DCUO who (coming from other regular MMOGs) would just stand still taking hits even though they could've evaded most of the damage. Then wondered why I was the only one left standing. <_<;

But GW2 is looking awesome.

Holy sh** the collector's edition looks stunning. The statue, a huge art book, soundtrack... definitely worth it, especially for the fans. Like me!

I think I'm gonna go ahead and get the collector's edition. If nothing else it gets me a spiffy CD with music by Jeremy Soule and I really have no qualms about throwing large wads of cash at ArenaNet because I like what I've seen of their approach to game design. So I'll throw money at them to communicate that yes I approve of what they are doing.

I completely agree with you, which is why I tend to drift away from the big communities and just play with a smaller group of friends. Meeting new people without having to shout over the trolls and idiots would be nice though.

I know. I really just want another small tight-knit community where I can hold a proper discussion. Everything I've seen so far is either completely empty, or so full that just attempting to hold a conversation feels like a shouting match.

Official forums, or forums that are popular and related to something that's sure to get a lot of hits kind of draws out the idiots. The picture below is fairly related. The bigger the audience, the more retarded the community seems to get.

Don't use GW2 Guru... Its not that great of a site. Do a few google searches, and you'll find a few people who you'll enjoy having a chat with about the game it self.

So I've been poking around Guildwars2 Guru or whatever it's called, and I'm beginning to have some concerns about the community. I get a very stupid vibe from that place and I sense that the overall GW2 community is going to be very dim, loud and completely incapable of holding a meaningful discussion. That's something I enjoyed about FFXI, it had a decent community base. Granted it took a few years to build that up, but the forums for FFXI never felt as stupid as what I'm getting over at the GW2 hang out. Maybe I just need to find a GW2 forum that doesn't suck.
