I had forgotten how delicious Orange Crush was. There is a good chance I will go through this entire bottle today.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
Just found out that one of my brothers (both of whom I haven't seen in about 8 years, though one is still in Afghanistan) will be up north this weekend for my dad's retirement party, and not only that - he's bringing his daughter! I'm going to meet my niece for the first time this weekend! Actually started tearing up at work.

That moment when you get drunk off your ass and start winning at Street Fighter because you've slowed down so much that you can't make bad decisions fast enough to actually lose the match.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
SOooooo I suppose I deserve this...
Today my dad calls me and asks me to look up prices for a plane ticket next weekend for his retirement party, essentially shitting on my plans to surprise everyone. So of course I told him I had already bought another ticket and he ruined my surprise but I can make plans to hang with some old high school people that I'm still close with over the 4th and spend more time with my mom when I come up in July but ... dammit ... and I can't surprise my mom after that because I can't just go up to PA and not spend a little time with my mom at all.
I love my dad and I'm stoked that he wants to fund a trip for me but if I had waited just a day I could have saved myself nearly $500 lol. Oh well it's still a great deal for a holiday weekend and I do need the vacation. The only thing I can think is to try to change my ticket to Mexico but 4 days is not long enough to go see the kids, so yeah. Oh well. Maybe next time I go to Mexico I'll tell them not to tell the kids so I can surprise them.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
Well it's a holiday, so there will be a holiday family gathering on my dad's side that I'll just show up to. They've always been really informal and whoever's around just shows up and hangs out to eat food, drink beer, and shoot the shit. My dad will be like "what the fuck" but totally chill about it.
And my mom is ... well, she literally never goes anywhere. So I don't think staying at her house is going to be an issue.
Plus, this isn't the first time one of her kids has done this kind of thing. She's kind of used to my brothers popping in unexpectedly, and I did it once back in like 2002 when I was still in the Army.
So for some families it might be an issue, but not mine.
The only thing I'm going to do is call my mom when I land in Cleveland to let her know I'm on my way because I'll be renting a car to drive back to Erie (flight prices to Erie were fucking retarded, my god) and I won't get in until kind of late so I'll just warn her so that someone knocking on her door at midnight doesn't freak her out lol.

Yeah, I think surprise visits can be problematic. They might not be prepare to entertaining any guests. Or even home at all.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
I've been accepted to Rutgers University's MSW program. Of course, when I first applied, I still had a job. I'm probably going to speak to an academic adviser this coming week to get ideas on what I should do since I insist on working while going to school. In all likelihood, if I don't find a full-time job by the time unemployment runs out, I'll go for a part-time job and go to school part-time as well. Whatever happens, school is going to have to be worked around a job.

Re: Little things that make you smile - the anti-peeve thread.
She's a pretty hateful bitch and people only like her because her teats hang out. But somehow, the party still wouldn't be the same without her. Even though her Approval rating magically goes down every time you do something halfway decent. All you have to do is kill her mother and shower her with jewelry, then she's just a friendly as everybody else.
