Open relationships need to be agreed with all parties and to be honest is not really ideal. If you love someone enough to be in a relationship why do you want to put it about as well? If she is that posseive of you then an open relationship will definately not work with her and even the suggestion might make her not want you or go phycho bitch etc. If you have something good, don't spoil it as you may end up regretting it for a little play here and there.

I kind of agree with what Jarre's saying, but I also believe that humans aren't really hardwired for monogamy. Certainly it does work sometimes and for some people it's enough, but I think a lot of people really struggle with it, especially in the face of temptation and attraction.

I have been in an open relationship before, what broke it up wasn't jealousy, but basically me being brainwashed by my ex-husband. I would consider an open relationship again as long as it is truly open, meaning that we know what the other is doing (while obviously sparing the gory details). But yes, both parties have to be okay with it and if you're not okay with the mere thought of your significant other touching another person, it will not work at all, and you have to be really secure in your feelings.

In other news, if you haven't heard from me lately, that's because it's finals week and I want to shoot myself in the face while simultaneously plummeting off a bridge.

I have yet to hear of any open relationship that has lasted for a protracted period of time or of one that hasn't involved a messy clusterfuck of negative emotions.

On the subject of monogamy, evolution would indicate it is advantageous. As a male, I believe one of my gender's biggest problems is we are emotionally fragile, often needing reassurances, even moreso as we age and no longer are perceived as "in our prime". At these moments of weakness it is often dangerously easy to embrace the flattering attentions of another individual and to confuse the fleeting enjoyment of a quick jump as an ego massage as opposed to something that could seriously fuck up something far bigger and ultimately better than that, namely a stable relationship with someone who actually cares for you beyond the content of your pants.

Anyway, that killed enough time so I can happily nip out of work now and down to the pub.

as to possessiveness, I mean sure, at a very normal level though. She's got a good sense of humor and is pretty open to discussing anything. I think it was more the difference between what she thought in theory, and finding out how she feels in reality, considering she's never been in a relationship before. It's not an issue I see actually coming up. I appreciate the support though guys.

SE is trying to lure me back in and they're doing a damn good job. Not sure if I should do it...



Granted I am entirely bored of XIV and what it has to offer in terms of end-game content. It's a very deep slope downhill after almost every patch and I'd like to have "something" to do instead of smacking my head against the same dungeon every time just to cap out every week on "x" amount of Soldiery/Poetics or what have you. It's just becoming much more of a chore to do it every week only to end up being behind in terms of weekly progression, versus me logging into like XI, doing something I like, say Dynamus and just doing it to have fun or just make a little bit of money.
