But then you have to deal with interacting with people, and who wants to deal with people?

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
After 5 years of being on the same shift at work, I finally got my hands on a morning shift that will give me some modicum of a normal life.
Starting on Monday the 6th, I'll be working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 4:00am-2:00pm.
This is as opposed to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:00pm - 1:00am.
Sure I lose weekends, but I gain FREEDOM. I can finally leave work while the sun is still up, run errands and go out to dinner after work. I really can't complain.
At least until Ironworking starts up, this is definately a step in the right direction.

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
After trying a different VGA cable, a different monitor, trying to compensate using the settings on each monitor, dusting the inside of the case for juju, and searching around for alternate video cards, I eventually solved my parents' video problem by using duct tape to stick the monitor cable to the side of their case. Turns out the socket is physically loose.

Just got a call out. And we more work to do today than usual. Now, I don't want to sound like a cynical boss, but...

Ecco's are definitely good shoes. I checked them out at the mall today. Really soft and cushioned. They felt really comfy aside from the fact that they would likely eat my heel if I actually put any miles on them. It's going to become one of those brands I end up recommending to other people even if it didn't work out for me.Originally posted by Mezlo View PostEcco's are the way to go.

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment - In RL
I think I might finally have to retire my current pair of boots as well. There's a hole in the right boot and while I used to be able to patch up holes, I'm not sure if this one is fixable since it just seems to open back up after a few days.
It makes me a bit sad thinking about is really since I've had them for about 8 years and they're survived paintballing, hiking, nature walks, quad biking, the Irish Sea (which turned them a dark green), trap shooting, archery, lots of mud, dig sites during Archaeology field trips, blizzards, ziplining, beloved family pets, heavy metal concerts, climbing trees that are really too high to climb without a harness, and overly playful kitties.
They've served me well. I'm going to give them a Viking Funeral *nods*.

I'll add that to the list of brands I check on my next outing, since the Rockports ended up crushing the ball of my foot all day long today.Originally posted by Caspian View PostI had good luck with Ecco's, Cid. Not TOO pricey and they're ridiculously comfortable.

Why make it easier to undo all your hard work? You won't care if it took 6 months instead of 3 a year or two from now.Originally posted by DakAttackPeople shouldn't treat losing muscle like it's the end of the world. People shouldn't treat losing muscle like it's the end of the world. Especially if they didn't have much muscle to begin with. If you're overweight and want to get that weight off fast, 20lbs a month isn't an unreasonable pace. If you're some sort of body builder or other self-interested individual then you'd want to consider a slower approach, but it's not like they don't fake it when it matters, anyways.Originally posted by Armando View PostIt doesn't really matter what your starting weight is. That doesn't change the fact that losing 10 pounds in 1 week means one or more of the following:
* You're losing water weight, you'll gain it back when you hydrate.
* You're losing muscle
* You're malnourished.
Again, no healthy diet will let you lose 10 pounds of fat that fast. There's about 3,500 calories in a pound of fat. You'd need to eat 35,000 calories below your weekly needs to lose 10 pounds. Since that would require cutting 5000 calories per day, it's pretty much impossible. A loss of 500 a day - which is a lot off of a woman's daily calorie needs - would only add up to 3,500 (1 pound) per week.
