Not completely, ass! You annoy the ever-living piss out of me some days. But in that particular regard, you were very like me, because you weren't quite understanding why they didn't get what you were saying, which is frustrating as hell. I just can't stand talking to people who don't get what I'm talking about.

All interviewers do that and push you on why you want to leave your current job. Thankfully the "right answer" is the one that makes you sound actually interested in the job you're applying for without sounding insincere and only interested in money.

I went for my final interview with the Ironworkers Union on the 14th. Everything seemed to go really well. I dropped some names, answered some questions and got grilled about the airport and why I would ever want to leave. All in all, I think I should be all set. I hear back in 2-3 weeks definitively.

Board Member: "Why would you want to leave the airport?"

Me: "Because there's a pay cap there that I'm not happy with in the long run"

Board Member: "Well that's a really great job, I don't see why you would want to leave"

Me: "Because there's a pay cap I'm not happy with"

Board Member: "What are the benefits?"

Me: "Free Flights and the other usual stuff... 401k, pension, health, medical, dental and vision"

Board Member: "Free flights? Isn't that worth it all by itself?"

Me: "Sure, if you can afford to take the time off for a vacation it's great, but due to the pay cap, I can't afford to do much besides pay my mortgage"

Board Member: "But the flight is free. Doesn't that pretty much make it possible every weekend?"

Me (on the inside): ARHGDFASKLNJALFJALKJEGF*#%_*)%@#(*%

Me (on the outside): "Not even close. I have to work extra hours to make my mortgage and that doesn't allow me the free time to take a trip... free or not. You also have to factor in hotel stays, rental cars and food. In the end, the free flight is great but everything else still costs money."

Board Member: *jots down notes*

Me (on the inside): "Do you want a fucking application? I'll trade you."

Me (on the outside): "Is there anything that you would like to ask me related to the construction field? I'm happy to answer any and all airport related questions for you after the interview but I was under the impression that I was here to apply for the union, not defend my intention to leave the airport."

Different Board Member: "I like him."

Me (on the inside): "Damn right you do."

Me (on the outside): "Thank you."
