it is 3.10. Dude your scores should be better still though, that's what i get and your specs eat me. What do you have Direct3D and OpenGL set to in your ATI config??
right click desktop>properties>settings>advanced>3D tab

Congrats on building the new comp! I just recently built my OWN first desktop, i've built many before just not for me until now. Hope you have fun, and good luck with below.
9700 can take a heavy load compared to my card so idk what to say, but mine is set as followed:
Direct3D:
2x AA
4x AF(tick the performance radio button, not quality*)
The first 2 sliders below this should be to the far right at Quality and the last 2 sliders at always off
OpenGL:
Same as above.
**people have been able to tell no dramatic difference in quality or performance for AF, except on performance they get a few more FPS
That should be good for standard gameplay, although i'm sure your 9700 can handle more than this, you prolly won't tell the difference in anything higher with FFXI. If this is too heavy for you let me know and i can 'break-it-down' more. Good Luck mate.

Just put in my new videocard
Which is a ATI Radeon 9600XT, got it for 85 bux.
Comp is a
P4 3.0 gig
1 gig of Corsair PC3200 DDR 400 ram
With my OLD card which was a Radeon 8500LE, my scores were:
High Reso = 3200 overclocked = 3400
Low reso = 4200 overclocked = 4400
Just put in my Radeon 9600XT yesterday, scores were:
High reso = 4400 overclocked = 4600
Low Reso =5300 = overclocked = haven't tested.
This is with everything turned on to the max, bump map, smoother textrues, blah blah, etc...:p
I'm also running the DIVI digital input into my monitor now, it looks great!

I got my 9600XT for $85 bux through... a shady way, of getting a voucher, which I don't want say how I did it, cuase you never know who is reading :p
But I got the card at Best Buy, I used to work there, and I know some people, that did some stuff. Not saying what stuff they did, not that it was bad... not saying..
I'm going to shutup now...
