Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
If they're cheap enough, you can buy them and relist them at more reasonable prices. Plus, the ones at 310 are being sold in groups of 99, so I'm guessing that's off limits to a lot of people who want only one or two.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
GSM is now worthless on Balmung. Note that it costs 400 Gil to make a single Electrum Ingot and even if you gathered the mats, why sell them for less than that? You have 400g worth of mats you could just sell separately.

Still infuriated by the beyond-shitty levels of SB rates on DoH & DoL.

Castrum Meridianum is so popular it shouldn't take you and your brother long to find a new group in the duty finder.Originally posted by Fliegar View PostDid Castrum Mari-something last night, and had a tank insisting we finish it in 20 minutes. We clear the first boss, and as we arrive at the second, one of the DPS decides he's had enough of the tank's attitude and tells him off. The tank then proceeds to sit in the corner of the room, saying that he won't leave until we finish or someone else leaves first. With some creative kiting methods, my brother (as a WHM) and I managed to down the adds and keep them away from the party until we downed the second boss, but the group fell apart shortly after.
There desperately needs to be a kick function in this game, as far as Duty Finder parties go. Having someone afk and sit there because they don't get their way and ruining the dungeon for 7 other people really sucks.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Unless your DPS is retarded (and I don't think they were, because you managed to actually face the end boss), then you weren't doing your job. Get the dragon out of the green puke and he won't regen. I've done Branflax at least 10 times and never, ever wiped, doing it as PUG or as static. This boss fight is seriously all on the tank, not even on the DPS, because two things are going on:Originally posted by Mezlo View PostYou have absolutely NO idea what the fuck happened in my fight, yet you think you're better and talk down to me. Seriously dude, check yourself, your ego is WAY out of hand...
-Dragon has a seriously nasty poison attack that's a rectangle protruding out front, you need to avoid taking it in the face
-Dragon will regen if he sits in his own puke, which makes the fight stretch for eternity
The DPS has nothing to do other than (a) DPS and (b) don't stand in the puke. The tank has way more things he needs to do on this fight. Don't get angry at me ... you just need to evaluate what went wrong on the fight.

1 bad instance out of at least 20 so far is a pretty good rate.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
So, last night was my first real encounter with retards.
I switched from SMN to SCH because it was late and I just wanted a fast invite. Learning how to heal on that job for the 1st time with 2 moronic DD's was less than pleasant. The SMN kept attacking whatever mobs the tank wasn't, and the LNC (yes LNC, dude didn't even have DRG) just kept pulling and doing whatever he could to make the PLD & I's lives hell. Like pulling and tanking the first boss... thankfully the shmuck left shortly after that as the PLD told everyone to hug the left side when we got to the big open lake. Naturally our retard LNC ran straight through the middle aggroing every mob on the way and bringing them to us. We survived (barely) except for him, so he respawned and came back, aggroing yet more mobs though this time he died before reaching us and then raged out. None of us could understand how he'd even gotten that far along the story.
Then BLM joined us and we eventually won the whole thing and I got most of the loot including Battlemage Gloves! :D
I gotta say, SCH healing was interesting, but I honestly do not like the Fairy AI at all. I assumed (based on what YP himself had previously said in a live letter) that it would auto-attack like the other summons while helping heal. Nope. It just sits there, and you constantly have to manually use Place to move it near the melee so they can be hit with her AoE Regen. It's f'ing stupid, worse than healing with PUP imo...

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Scratch what I just said, I helped out a friend and we didn't have a tank for that level range. Needless to say we decided to use the Duty Finder.
I have no idea how the tank was taking so much damage, but holy crap something went wrong in there.

You have absolutely NO idea what the fuck happened in my fight, yet you think you're better and talk down to me. Seriously dude, check yourself, your ego is WAY out of hand...Originally posted by Aeni View PostThere's a message during the fight that says:
"Dude, I know you like staring at that Lalafell's ass cheeks, but move the lizard out of his green puke so your DPS don't call you a moron."
^ I'm being facetious, but really, when the message prompts you and you're suggested to move, then you move. I know a lot of players from WoW complained about no add-ons, but the game provides textual help that is very reminiscent of Deadly Boss Mods, which tells you exactly what to do sans the bells and whistles. In the final boss encounter of Cutter's Cry, it's the same thing, "blue eyes flash" so you move away and "violet eyes flash" so you move in. Execution, on the other hand, is the responsibility of the player, not the game.
Tips to improve dungeon experiences:
-Use a testing tool, like Pingtest.net, to determine your latency. If it's poor, contact your ISP to work with them in reducing it if at all possible.
-A lot of players have had success with using VPN tools, so you may want to check it out.
-Make it a habit to avoid red zones on normal mobs while working in FATEs, leves and quests. Muscle memory is the best way to eliminate "player latency".
-As a tank, rather than engage a boss directly, circle around when entering the lair. Most bosses are not leashed as long as you move them within the lair. Always keep spacing in mind and make sure you do not "trap" your dps/healer in some messed up manner that they have no chance of fleeing to safety. Most importantly, awareness, awareness, awareness, will make you a better player.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Number One Rule of FFXIV AoE Dodging: If you were in the AoE when the cast bar filled, you will be hit no matter how far away you are. On some fights, Titan Hard Mode, Ultima Weapon and Demon Wall especially, it's always better to be moving during Ground Target Phases than it is to be trying to damage the boss then wiping the party because you didn't move in time.
There's a bunch of sync issues too. If you cast something on the way out so the server will confirm your position so you can end up with the server thinking you stopped running because you didn't stop spamming abilities while moving. Found that one out the hard way on Titan HM by spamming Scathe while running out Bomb Radius. Easiest way to avoid that though is to stop all ability spamming and just move it.
That said my favourite personal AoE dodging fail was in Garuda Hard More where I ran into the centre too early for the Eye of the Storm phase, and got thrown into Garuda's cleave, and one shot because the Cyclones take off a little over 2k and Garuda cleaves for about 2k. My FC had a good laugh at me about that over Mumble.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Get lagg or large latency as a tank in Brayflax and it makes it twice as hard, I have run away form red zone and been half way accross the dungeon and still been hit by its poison attack.
