Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?

Well. I'm all done. Relic is at Nexus. 13/13 Coil. 8/8 Primals. The only thing I need to do is 0/9 Savage. But I'll get Astrologian to 60 then do Savage. I believe the new jobs will make it more fun going into 2nd Coil.

T13 is surprisingly easy. Even without echo, the only hard part of that fight is Divebombs. Once that's over it's just Phase 1 with Twisters.

My pet peeve I guess is people just being dumb. When you give someone a complete logical explanation as to why something fails and they insist on placing the blame else where. Or those people who whine first. Actually...no, I remember my pet peeve. I was in a Titan EX group. The guy was giving 300k per run and people were just failing.

I dodged all the mechanics just fine, and the Healer got pissy because we got one extra Tumult and went "If DPS was higher we could've skipped that Tumult!" The funny thing is we cleared it once, then after that things fell apart when people started nitpicking on how quick they want to fight to be over. That's the shit I don't get with people, just because were overgeared for a fight doesn't mean you can skip mechanics and be okay, especially OHKO mechanics. We pushed phases to the point of where Titan was landsliding people midway through Gaol's being formed. It's even better when people are dumb and are like "SOLO TANK" when the fight fucking requires 2 tanks to actually be successful. People try to constantly do shortcuts because they don't want to spend time in those fights, then what the fuck is the point of even doing a party for them in the first place?

^ which is hilarious considering it doesn't matter how well geared you are if even 1 person can't get the mechanics right in a fight like Titan EX it's a lost cause anyway.

The Best parties are stuff like people demanding full i120 gear for T9 or Extremes.

Well yeah, there's that, but the point I am trying to make is what IS the point. It's the whole entitled attitude I don't like. There are also times where I've run Expert with a tank who was a primadonna about loot, they either got all the loot or they would just leave the party. It's like why even queue if you're going to be a selfish asshole?

The stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. Especially the people that make parties in PF that go a little bit like this.

"Turn 11 Greed Farm. First (Loot here) is locked/reserved." What the fuck is the point of reserving loot if it's a damn farm party? Everybody is going to get loot. So just because you feel entitled to have the first ring everybody else needs to get shafted? Fuck that noise.

Been getting really pissed off with our Ninja in FCoB. He keeps dying to either Mega Flare or Earthshakers. We can't fucking get rid of him because he's our raid leader's brother. I'm really wanting my damn T13 clear so I can finish the story for gods sake and get my Scholar Robe. I'm getting quite sick and tired of having to compensate on someone else's behalf because they're too dumb to avoid mechanics. Its making our progress into Phase 3 a nightmare, since we have to get him up or leave him dead, it's an on spot decision, since we need to wait for the first DB then the Blood and Pain pop, so then we need him up for those. Like fuck man.

I was in a Keeper of the Lake run and I think the group (meaning not me) was surprised that the place was actually challenging. Then they realized they were having to carry me in there since I wasn't in 120+ gear. At least they were civil about it and not giving me a hard time. Hey, I avoided 90% of the shit that the overgeared tank sat in and ate. Go me.

Players who were carried through a new fight by better players from their FC, didn't learn a damn thing about the fight or their role in it, and now assume they're leetsauce.

Players who suck but blame the rest of the group. Case: Just about any run of Steps of Faith where half of the group is new to the fight. That one shitty tank who doesn't know what the f**k he's doing but it must be everyone else's fault if the group wipes.

Players who expect an immediate win to a new fight, see that there are over half the players of the group watching the cutscene, and STILL rush into the fight as soon as the gate's lifted without giving advice or instructions, opting instead to assume everyone knows their exact role and each mechanic of the fight, regardless of the fact that this has NEVER been true of any of their past experiences.

Tanks and healers who queue up for a brand-new instance and abandon a fight before the first attempt just because they counted 4 players watching the cutscene.

Players who take the role of least responsibility in a fight to hide their general ineptitude for doing a job that requires even a modicum of skill or responsibility (like Snares), and then bitch and complain when the ones actually doing the job that requires a brain make a mistake.

Players who think that a single wipe means that the party will never be able to achieve a win.

Players who think their time is more valuable than others'.

Players who think that the community of FFXIV is inherently nicer and more helpful than any other MMO, because it's not, it's exactly the same (see aforementioned). While I believe this was definitely true of FFXI because of the deeply-rooted need to work with others to accomplish everything, in FFXIV I see a LOT of players resentful of the fundamental basics of needing to work with others. We can accomplish everything independently in this game, and therefore, when another player interrupts your flow or causes a setback in your plan, there are a lot of players who simply quit or - worse - rage. Running the new fight, which actually is really awesome and really requires all players to perform their best, really shows that there is A LOT of disrespect between players, usually for something as simple as a wipe.

And the biggest pet-peeve of all goes to SE for making a game that so spoon-feeds players that it actually encourages players to think that wipes are unusual or a sign of ineptitude.

I feel for players who are new to the new fight and are trying to get it done right now through the DF. If they don't get lucky and get paired with a group that mostly knows the fight, they're in for a pretty negative experience because lots of players are being douche bags about having to work for a win.

    - From a friend of mine, but I 120% agree with him on this.

So turns out you have to buy the expansion on both platforms to enjoy it on both, contrary to what a friend kept trying to tell me. I knew they'd do this. He's been nagging me to get the PS4 version since my PC is out of commission, and that I'd just be able to resume on PC later through a patch but nope I was right - I"d have to buy the expansion for PC as well.

F that, skipping console version altogether and just gonna save money until I can build my new rig.

Oh and they region locked it. So I can't just go get the MUCH cheaper US version from the store. You have to use a copy of the game for the region you play in. Which is fucked over the Aussies and Kiwis because they aren't even part of Europe, but are classed as the EU Region according to Square Enix

Heavensward Pricing for UK players who are gouged yet again.

    Heavensward Collector's Edition:
    US $130 = £87.88
    EU €130 = £92.56

    What we actually pay:
    £129.99 = €182.18 = $192.04
