Syrcus Tower is the name of the main spire. The Crystal Tower is the name of the whole structure basically

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Technically that *is* crystal tower lol. I mean both are a part of it, but Syrcus is actually inside the tower proper.
I really wanna re-sub just for a month and try out the new shinies but yeah the launcher still won't start up and I'm reluctant to uninstall & reinstall if I don't have to (really not keen on re-mapping all my abilities and gear sets etc. if I don't have to).

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Crit is still better with the current gear levels. Spell Speed does nothing for your global cooldown. Plus you can move when a Spell is at under 0.5 seconds left on the cast bar which does make a large chunk of spell speed kind of not needed. BLM is more about Maximising your Astral Fire III uptime and moving only when you really have to. Crit is also really, really, really nice for Flare spamming (they still haven't fixed it in this patch even though hey said it would be fixed).
Double Plumes in Titan EX s the best example. You have more than enough time to Dodge, cast then Dodge again. You can pretty much get off a Blizz III in that space and enjoy going nto Stomps with full MP.
The main reason the High Allagan Chest is so nice for BLM isn't the Spell Speed. It is the ridonkulous amount of INT and Determination that it gives.

Hulbreaker Isle is the fastest dungeon. All of the bosses are pretty easy and there's not much trash. Oh and the Mimics are back. Have fun.Originally posted by Mezlo View PostWhat are the 3 new dungeons and which one is the best / fastest now to farm soldiery? I still need my gloves, feet, and head.
Stone Vigil HM is fun and well balanced, though the bosses are a bit too easy. The turret fight section is pretty fun and reminds me of those fights in SWTOR.
Tam-Tara HM...Fuck those ending cutscenes and the torn pages from the diary you find are why I am still up at 2am. Just don't watch the quest's final cutscene with any kids or you will not get them to sleep. The Red Wedding references did make me chuckle though. THe dungeon is a bit of a slog but it has the most fun, unique and interesting boss fights of the three.
Syrcus Tower: It is a lot harder than Crystal Tower at it requires actual coordination and all three raid groups to pay attention at all times of you wipe. It drops iLv100 gear that act as Sidegrades for your Soldiery Gear. It also drops the Sands and Oils to upgrade Soldiery Gear too.
Oh, all the new Dungeons drop iLv80 Gear with unique models. You now also get 35 Soldiery for the Daily instead of just 25 now so capping is even easier.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
That's assuming you do it every day though, and not everyone can do that. Besides those dungeons (well, brayflox and halatali anyway) were fast and fun.
Really would like to know if there's anything I can do to fix my launcher not starting up without reinstalling X_x
EDIT: Yeah that's a pretty sexy robe alright, though I'd rather something with spellspeed for BLM especially given how dependent BLM is on getting as many hits off as possible before having to move or switch stances. The crit is lovely in terms of raw damage but yeah...

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Not sure, only just got back from work. Will get back to you o nthat one Mezlo. Also check the loot list for new CT. All of the gear is a Sidegrade to your Soldiery Gear since it is all iLv100.

All I can say is DAT BLM ROBE! I want that fucking robe, it will be awesome for SMNs too who have been shafted badly on Accuracy since 2.2 hit.
It takes one Expert dungeon per day to cap Soldiery. In what universe does that suck? You basically have 450 Soldiery given to you every week for free as long as you do your Roulettes, which can now be done in a full group...Originally posted by Malacite View PostEh, could have just made the new ones worth more too seeing as Soldiery already sucks to farm.

UGH stupid launcher won't update! I think the file got corrupted when my PC crashed during an update a while back....
Saw a thread about changing the bootconfig file but that didn't do it. Do I have to uninstall and re-install? Is there any way to save all my macros and settings or is that all fucked up (which is gonna just put me off from playing even more)

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
They lowered it from 45 per run on brayflox, amdapor and halatali (hard) to 30 which is lame. I can only assume the 3 new dungeons give more, but it had better be like 50.
Even dumber, they cranked up the myth for those 3 as well which just incentivizes the speed runs even more. Mind you it says they adjusted the per-boss drops so it could be that the myth distribution is less than before per boss but more overall which is actually a big nerf.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
Why the hell did they nerf soldiery from dungeons? And yay, the weekly cap is back for the new Crystal Tower what a surprise.
This is the kind of shit that keeps me from wanting to come back, even if I like the game. Good thing the Destiny beta starts next week (and I've been having a surprisingly good time with Lightning Returns, nearly done my 1st playthrough).
I mean it's like so what, they can add all the new classes & jobs they want if they don't re-examine their approach to end game it's not going to matter (for myself anyway). Not that XI didn't have annoying lockouts either at times, but for the most part there was just so much stuff to do at any given time it didn't matter. That, and the content was actually fun to do etc. etc. of course that was all back in the day and I'm really not keen on going back to that game now, even though the recent updates have all looked pretty damn solid compared to XIV's.
But I credit that to Matsui's experience - he's been at this a lot longer than Yoshida has, even if Yoshida's played a hell of a lot of MMOs he's still new to leading one as a designer/producer and it's showing IMO. Was gonna re-sub just for a month to try out the new patch but I might wait until closer to 2.4 idk - would like to do the story stuff while it's fresh but generally it's largely solo content anyway.
Oh yeah, and they can shove the chocobo raising up their asses. That's ridiculous that it's tied to owning a house, and on top of that you have to share the stable with everyone else which implies that only so many people can be actively using it at once. And the feed is all gotten from gardening in yet another lame attempt to push FC housing.
weak.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
So they decided to give all the mobility buffs to the SUMMONER, while the Black Mage buffs just seem well odd.
First of all, with Garuda having no cast time on any of her abilities, they eliminated the only challenge on playing SMN, which is pet positioning. If you put Garuda in the wrong place, she is doing 0DPS if you have to move her. Learning where to put her is basically the only challenge to the class. Basically Summoner went from the easiest class in the game to play to a class where you don't even need to think to play it.
Second of all, BLM basically got a flat Potency buff even though the devs said that this will not be happening. This does nothing for the BLM's situation and still makes it the hardest class to play in any sort of meaningful content. Before any idiots come in and whine that "All you do is spam fire", remember that no other class required you to predict where the boss's attacks are going to be when your spell is finished. No other class has you dealing 0DPS if you have to move due to someone else fucking up, or if the boss has to be moved. No other class needs you to learn the fight perfectly, knowing where to stand and when, exactly how many spells you can sneak in before you have to move.
Just try playing any encounter in T6-7 and try saying BLM is easy to play, I fucking dare you.
The issue here is that, the potency buff does nothing for the mobility issues. All it means is that already good BLMs are going to be absurd, and average BLMs are always going to perform worse than an average BRD or SMN.
The patch notes also give zero justification to take a BLM over a second SMN, or second BRD. SMN will always have better utility than a BLM due to having the Traits to boost Virus and Eye for an Eye. SMN also has great AoE damage and also gives the party an extra Raise. SMN also has 100% DPS on the move now. BRD has insane group utility, can deal 100% DPS on the move and buffs the SMNs alread huge DPS and the pet damage (Garuda benefits from Foe's Requiem), and it also provides Wipe Recovery from the Lv3 LB.
All BLM really has is a long Bind in Freeze (only useful in T7, and BRD will always be your first choice for Renaud kiting anyway), and a long Heavy (only useful in T5, and WHMs can do it as well, also requires actually finding space for Blizzard on your hotbar). I can't name a single encounter or dungeon in the game where people will always take a BLM over a SMN, except maybe for T5 farming.
Looks like I'm probably going to end up full timing SMN in 2.3. -_- Might actually get into a static that way.
