Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?

I bust out HQ's on synths my own level and above and get 1~2% at best generally.

That's with 100% quality, on level 45+ recipes. You can't tell me that's even remotely fair, compared to how loltastic it is to SB items on DoW & DoM through FATE & Dungeons even with the SB nerf they put in place.

As I said, it's looking to me like they either haven't noticed or deliberately put in a mechanism to slow down SB on crafting gear. You guys keep giving asinine responses, so I'm going to be belligerent in response until otherwise.

OF COURSE I don't expect much EXP from the 1st-time bonuses or low level items, that was never what I was disputing - what I'm pissed at is crafting stuff at or above my own level, taking the time and effort to max out quality for the most EXP (and profit) and getting fuck all in spirit bond in return. I'm also calling bullshit on the 100% success, as I still managed to break a few hard leathers earlier on my 45 LTW wearing all HQ equipment (Not sure on the exact number but my craftsmanship is around 250+).

I have very, very good crafting gear and use food as well to maximize my efforts. I'm not asking for SE to hand me anything, I'm asking for shit to be fair in comparison to other avenues of spirit bonding.

tl;dr stop talking out your asses, both of you.
Who's talking out of their ass? You said colossal fail rate. If you're quick synthing stuff same level then you're doing it all wrong. Here's the process in case you are still trying to figure it out.

    1. You need lots of low level bullshit to make the current level craft.
    Quick Synthesis

    2. You then make a bunch of current level craft.
    SB Profit

    ...

Why is it that people just love to complain for the hell of complaining? I think it's because Mal didn't re-roll that he's having issues that is only something Legacy players experience. Taking crafts from 1 and up, I've SB several sets of gear. I also did for some tools, but not all of them (the key here is that some crafts, like BSM, don't really have the need of mats, like WVR, which can SB tools faster) Since you're not exactly starting from zero (I should know, you were bragging about getting a lot of crafts to either 50 or near 50 before end of 1.0), you should be spamming crafts closer to 50 or wherever the hell you're at to get SB. Not doing logs for bonus exp, which doesn't count to SB.

Oh, and FYI, this isn't 1.0 I believe there is a component to SB which takes into account the quantity of crafts as well as the exp gained. I go back to my example with BSM vs WVR.

That's funny, because Quick Synth is based on your Craftsmanship stat and has a maximum of a 10% fail rate. Once you are past a certain threshold there is 0% failure chance.

Stop being a jerk, if you want to farm Materia, nut up and grind out those HQs.

A LS is now just a private chat channel. A FC is more like a LS used to be, or like Guilds in other MMOs - gives you a private chat channel, plus shared storage and in the future shared housing.

EDIT: Aeni beat be to it, and did a better job explaining.

I havent been doing anything other than just running through the main storyline quest, and the whole first week of early access I couldnt login... I'm getting on like 1-2 hours a night now...
FC = Guild in most other MMOs. LS = chat channel in most other MMOs. Because LS in ARR is given freely and you can have as many as you want (up to a certain amount), it is not really a "group". Why bother with an LS, then, you ask?

    1. You cannot form an FC until after you hit 25 on a main. You must also be vested in a Grand Company. In addition there is a money cost (15,000G)

    2. Linkshells can be obtained the moment you end up in a city state. Just speak with the LS vendor to obtain your LS and then invite your friends. This is a temporary FC (with no bank, etc) which should tide you over until you get a real one.

    3. An LS can be an invaluable tool for creating a secure or private channel. Because FC chat channel is available to ALL members, you wouldn't want to discuss private matters concerning a problem with a member or between members. That's where LS comes in. With it, you can place your friends or family or even specific members to communicate private matters to them. Think of it as a Facebook Group or Google+ Circle.

Is any of the darklight armor not worth getting when you compare it to how good other dark light armor is or when you compare the stats to other crafted and materia melded gear?
900 tomes for relic if I recall, as far as darklight it starts at 375 for accessory pieces, 495 for some armor pieces, 825 for body/legs(helm?), and 1320 for the certain jobs that use combo pieces that come as helm + body and leg + feet(cloth-wearers, plate-wearers).

The solution is there, but he rather SE bend over for him. Because I'm an HQ freak, I actually sit and plow through each and every mat synthesis (if it gives at least 2.5%~3% of the TNL in exp, which means I only need to synth 36 times at most to get the next level) and collect HQ items in storage. Then craft a bunch of items for the log completion bonus exp until the next tier of recipes get unlocked and then hit *that* level of mats. Alchemy and Cooking is the only craft where I have trouble finding a good way to grind though, but every other craft has a component at each tier or every other tier that makes it worth grinding through.

This becomes an important process in later stages of the craft, because you can store your HQ mats into the FC bank, and encourage fellow members to do the same, where they can produce HQ items downstream with it. An FC bank stock to the gill with HQ mats makes a stronger crafting FC. I don't know if Neighbortaru knows this, but the bank is open for him to take and give at will. We've been like that since before in previous MMOs. I'm notorious to hoarding but I only hoard leveling mats. I've been storing all the HQ crafted (and normal ones) from leveling into the FC bank since it's better if someone uses it. I'm sure Firewind has a similar system in his FC. It basically is what SE wants ... a vibrant FC, a vibrant community. Not a game for solo hoarders.

Dhorme Chimera. How the hell is this supposed to be beaten? Even playing perfectly, I'm not able to interrupt his OHKO Ram's Voice 100% of the time due to diminishing returns on my stun. Even when we get down to the wire, 3/5 of the dps are down, 1 of the healers is dead, and the tank is at half HP as an electric ball is chasing my brother around while he's trying to keep us up., we still end up wiping on it. I've spent like 7 hours on this part of the quest so far.

And I'm not having trouble getting exp, for the last goddamn time, L2R, I'm having major issues filling up the spirit bond on my crafting tools and to a lesser degree my crafting gear. It takes 10x the amount it does compared to Combat gear and that's just stupid. My only guess is that SE wants to keep crafting materia specifically very rare... otherwise they're incompetent and don't realize how lopsided SB is for combat vs crafting & gathering.
Quick Synth and go AFK. It doesn't take that long at all for SB to build. Your FC shouldn't be using the SB gain bonus when they can use it to help people level their Craft/Gathering Classes or reducing Repair Bills for raids.
