Re: FFXIV gets a 4.0 from Gamespot
I tried to play the game really I did... I really tried to give the game my attention. I knew coming in (being that I have alpha/beta tested many titles) that there were things to not expect such as endgame, mid-game, incredibly progressed storyline, the gear that makes your mouth water, or heavily developed party mechanics (since people are just starting to jump on the bandwagon of parties in late teens even though it's viable from like level 3 to party play).
I figured that it would be hard to party, that it would be annoying to travel without their methods having wide scale feed back so they could tweak them. That airships weren't here yet, and nobody has a clue what the hell they are going to use chocobos for, not even s-e. But none of that matters anymore.
My entire LS save 1 person, has canceled their accounts and now they are wondering if I want to go to cata =_=. As I speak instead of partying up on ffxiv, they are working on guild things to prepare the server for cata release. Instead of questing on ffxiv they are looking up pvp stats, and guild scores on servers. Instead of crafting and running leves they some are playing dungeon fighter online to pass the time till it's WoW time once again. Or messing around on aion.
So... What the hell do I do now... It almost feels like I should just resub FFXI and let the FFXIV ship sink. Doesn't matter how much you like the game. It's no fun when your doing it by yourself. Because without the MM in this a ORPG, it's just a single player game with poor leveling.

Mirror's Edge was really shallow, even for a first attempt, in my opinion. Nothing about it really was amazing besides some of the jumps. And the ending made things even more incomplete. The mix of running and shooting and stuff, seemed like the game had an identity crisis. It wasn't a shooter, and it wasn't just about parkour.
The lack of variety in the enviornments was also kind of shameful. It would have been nice to have street level parts, going in and out of stores, backalleys, etc. Well ya there was a mall in Mirror's Edge, but everything was closed or fenced in.
They could have done a lot more with the martial arts combat too. And the gun mechanics were not so great mew, there was no ironsights option to aim better (prefer not turning crosshairs on).
And the other thing that was weak, which I said before, was the story. But anyways I look forward to the sequel and it's good EA said they want to give Mirror's Edge a second chance. I think they might show something next year.
Mirror's Edge series has a lot of potential, but the first game only possesses about half of that potential.

How much more fun and rewarding could it be? And you can say that about just about any game.
Mirror's Edge is the type of game for perfectionists. This can be seen in the trophy/achievements list, as well as all the different time trial modes.

Hey now, don't bad talk Mirror's Edge. It's such an underrated game because it's so far from a "normal" game.

All games have bugs. That's a fact of life. For every bug you see, there's a good handful more you don't. If you don't see any bugs, that's great, but they're there.

Re: FFXIV gets a 4.0 from Gamespot
Bungie had flaws. The Halo Reach disks are said to not run on some Xbox360s (embarrasing, mew!) and some said the online co-op doesn't work for some people. Not sure if they patched that yet but that was a serious real issue.
Blizzard.....they messed up WoW, causing many to quit, I heard.
Bethesda has some buggy and faulty games, including Fallout 3, Oblivion etc. Still playable but largely not polished enough.
Bioware had serious loading issues with Mass Effect 1. Buggy issues when using elevators, and Mass Effect 2 wasn't squeaky clean either. Jade Empire had some of the most rushed and careless endings ever designed.
DICE's Mirror's Edge felt more like a tech demo than a full game. Mediocre story, very bad taste in telling some parts of the story (2-D cutscenes? They should of kept it first person like Half-Life, and Half-Life has a better story.)
The cliffhanger was awful. Level design wasn't so great. Too many rooftop levels. Only one part where mirrors with actual reflections are used. I still have it but have no good reason to play it again.
But ya just some examples those companies mentioned are sloppy one way or another.
