Thank you, and yes I am using good gear. No doubt I could ugrade some of it, but gil doesn't grow on trees.

(one piece that is obvious is I use Power Crossbow and not Long Boomerang, but I chose to make up for the AGI difference in a Genin Earring so that I can continue to level my marksmanship)
I definatly wouldn't be arguing for the Elvaan cause if I haven't seen 1st hand the damage we are able to do in the right equipment. THF is like any job, equipment can make up for your flaws.
My average SATA is around 300 damage.

Not to mention from being a WAR for 52 levels STR is a big part of WS damage, and from my understanding DEX and AGI add to the multipliers of that initial damage (when SATA are used).
So where as Elvaan have a higher base WS damage it doesn't get "multiplied" as much. Where as a Mithra would have a lower base WS due to lower STR, but the large amounts of DEX and AGI add to the multiplier.

I don't know about your server, but on Gilgamesh, a Genin Earring goes for 220k+

If you have one of these, which gives you one more agility than a Drone Earring, you'd better have every other single piece of equipment available to your Thief. That includes Emperor's Hairpin and Leaping Boots. A Genin Earring is, as far as I can tell, the absolute least bang-for-your-buck a thief can equip for any slot.

Maybe you did the BCNM for it and don't know this? It's possible, but I think everyone who can do a BCNM would know to check the AH prices on everything that dropped

I bought it for 190K (average was 180K but only 1 was in stock so some bastard jacked up the price). It most definatly is the least amount of bang for my buck (besides Nomad Mantle +1, which goes for around 250K on my server), but was definatly worth it considering it can be used 5 levels before Drone Earrings.
And yes I do have Emperors Hairpin and Leaping boots... not sure why the link isn't working for you, maybe just post the link into your address bar or something:

I could but I've never really been interested in taking pics of damage let alone average damage (which is what 497 was to me at 35). Those were actually the last 2 SCs I did in that party before signing off for the night and I remembered to take a couple pics so I could post them in this thread.
I could take a picture of every SC I end, but I dont really see the point.

If you believe me thats great, if not oh well, you might be missing out on partying with some awesome Elvaan THFs though :p

I don't really pay attention to how much damage I do, but I think the norm is around mid 300's-low 400's with SATA. Around Mid 400-mid 500's with SATA+WS.

The damage seems to fluctuate though, sometimes it will be really crappy in the 300's or 200's with just a regular SATA or sometimes it will go high 400's. Like I said though, I don't really pay attention. =P

The few times I have PT'd with elvaan THF though, they always have crappy equipment, and I tell them to buy good stuff, then they scream at me about how much it costs, and I'm just like uh whatever.

nah i pt with a pld drg drk(me) rdm(or bard) and whm leaving a space open for another DD, so its either blm or rng cuz thf and other jobs cant match their damage

Mook: Link still not working for me. It all just sounded odd, since you mentioned being able to upgrade some of it. The first thing to drop off lists (except the Genin Earring / Nomad Mantle) is usually the boots and hairpin (Well, those're the things I don't have anyway =P)

Np The things I was talking about upgrading to are Nomad Mantle +1, Winged Boots (I guess you could say the +1 version aswell, but thats just talking crazy lol) and a Sarashi.

oh I forgot to add, I got my THF to 37 gimp as hell, like +9 DEX and AGI and still did 300ish SATA'S O.o;

well...no offense but that pic is also on bats...and bats have very low def, I broke 600 with penta thrust on a bat...

Thats a level 49 5 hit weaponskill with a 2 handed weapon. I would hope you would be able to out damage me on a creature you are strong against (polearms are piercing same as daggers incase you didn't know) 14 levels above me.
