Oh god no! I'd rather switch my macros every time I change enemies...

    DERR or maybe not...

The only macro I've changed for 20 levels is the magic burst one. (aside from upgrading to II spells)

Bald Taru Taru, players like you give BLM a bad name. Not only do you not know how to play your character correctly, you are too lazy to actually play it - I bet if you could use a program that could play for you, you would. -_-

Taking your own example.... Blizzard II. You're fighting beetles...

      DRG uses Raiden Thrust
THF uses Sneak/Trick/Viper from behind Paladin
      Skillchain: Distortion

What do you do? Oh, wait, you're still busy sitting around waiting for your Blizzard II macro to cycle. Guess you missed your Magic Burst. Or maybe you think bursting Blizzaga or Blizzard would be just as effective?

BTW, if you like playing games without having to push buttons there's this fantastic game called ProgressQuest. I'm sure you'll like it.

I love how people think they are uber like ice mage, that is why you have macro 3 bursting macro, distoration ice or water, waterga takes care of it, btw if you dint know you can stop your macro cycle at anytime but using another macro so when your burst just hit macro 3......oh by the way taga, answer for your change macro everytime you fight a different monster no accually i dont need to, see everything i fight in side the crawler nest has weakness to ice, such as flys, crawlers and beetals, so therefore i dont need to change macros, lets say if you are fighting at quifm you dont need to change macros either, crabs, pugils , both have weekness to ice. the spells i listed above is just what i use generally, if you are making macros like this you should find out what are you going to hunt then the general weakness.

No wonder you're always complaining about the BLM class Bald Taru, all you do is sit back and use click macro 1 then macro 2 and sit back rest of fight.

I would be extremely bored if i did this. If my lvling experience consisted of "Macro 1, enfeebling spells. Macro 2, nuke spells....ok, sit back and twiddle my thumbs" i'd have dropped this game in November.

Herein lies the problem for you man. You can't possibly having fun when you go lvling.

Advice to new BLM's, make your macro's cast 1 spell.

AKA... /ma Blind, next macro, /ma "Fire II"....etc etc.

Don't put in 4-5 spells in a macro or have them loop, you'll be bored to death tapping 2 keys during the fight then sitting back doing nothing.

INT is not elemental defense I'm sorry to say... MND is. When seeing how much damage a spell can produce the game uses your elemental skill. To see if the spell will be resisted it will compare your INT vs. Target's MND...
That info is sooo two weeks ago, go test it, nuke a mob you're exping on a few times, see how much non-resists do, cast burn, and do it again. It DOES raise damage about 5-10% from nukes, as well as reducing resists. INT=elemental resist, MND=enfeeble/divine resist. I also know some elemental debuffs won't stack with each other, if the element is dominant to a debuff already on the mob.
Here is some info I found in another forum from another BLM.. haven't found anything contradictory to this info yet.:
            Fire > Ice > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire

            Burn <> Frost <> Choke <> Rasp <> Shock <> Drown <> Burn
(Burn won't stack with Drown/Frost, etc.)
            Bio <> Dia

Spells with opposite element types won't stack. They would override each other instead. For example:

            Rasp, Frost, Drown, (Bio/Dia) stack

            Shock, Burn, Choke, (Bio/Dia) stack

Choke, Rasp, Shock WON'T stack (one will go off once the other one casted)

Other enfeeble spells however stack well (i.e: Paralyze, Slow, Gravity, Blind...)
And in which case, my combo of Burn->Shock->Choke->Bio would still be effective, the only thing I didn't know was that I was overwriting Dia.

Ah, so you just fight in the Crawler's Nest all the time.. Hehe, how Original. I get bored staying in one spot for 20 levels... I get just as much xp in Altepa, Gustav, Eldieme and many other spots that are much less crowded than crawlers. I leveled in crawlers from 33-38 and wasn't exactly sick of it.. but definetely ready for a change. You talk about how unhappy you are with your BLM when all you are doing is fighting in the same spot for 20 levels and pressing the same macro every mob. Don't expect any sympathy.

I'm not too sure about Bio and Dia overwriting one another. I was in a PT today with two other WHM and a RDM, and we didn't have anything to support this happen. At the beginning of each fight I would cast Bio then Poison, while one WHM was casting Slow, Para, and the RDM going in with Blind then melee or backup heals. Each time my Bio landed first, and I would get a wore off message about half-way through the fight. Long after Dia was cast and even recast. Heck sometimes I would cast Dia if the WHM was busy curing and I would get a land message, and later a wear off message from Bio(but not immediately after casting dia).

Maybe further down the spellchain they overwrite eachother because of the elemental difference, or maybe it's a bug that the low level ones don't overwrite them? Not sure, but that's what happened for me today.

What the hell? You have a huge post about how BLMs are the worst class in the game and now you're making a guide? Is there something wrong with you?

So let's say someone uses the little macro shortcut of yours and while they're waiting 20 seconds because they're watching TV or whatever you suggested, the leader yells RUN and your spell goes off and you get the aggro. Uh-oh, chances are you're dead. I would rather 'push buttons' during battle than spend time adjusting my macros for 5 minutes. Yeah, no thanks.

There are SEVERAL threads about this.
...check the whm forum (and rdm).
i believe in the thread "dia/bio stack?" (i'll link it later if i remember) there was some testing done...specific testing, not in the heat of battle observations.
                          Basically, the results are:
You can cast DIA on a mob.
                          Then cast BIO.
Later on through the battle...just standing there for ages, the BIO will eventually give you a message saying that "Bio wore off" but you will never see this message with DIA if you cast BIO on top of it.
The threads are interesting reads, and i believe the consensus (amongst those willing to actually test) is that bio overwrites dia.
Oh, and back to topic...ya, the macroing shortcut is just bad news...some hapless newbie is going to follow this advice and the whole world will explode. 'Tis a shame. Truly a shame.

you must be a retard if it takes you 5mins to do your macro... btw if your leader says run you can just move and your spell casting will be interupted.....

I'm a retard for taking time with my macros? Yeaahh, real mature response there.

If this is how you want to play your BLM, fine, whatever. Just do new people a favor and don't suggest this sort of strategy to them in case they might listen.
