Yes, and there's a big difference between something as minor as a home point and something that would, depending on what you believe in, change your entire life and moral code.

Entire life and moral code, no. Entire range of stories that can be told and make sense with each other, yes. If you can't imagine how Home Points as real or not real changes an entire subsection of society -- the one that the game revolves around, at that -- then I'm not sure it's worth the bother to explain how that mismatch in views on the way the world works would lead to conflict.

Back on topic: People who don't know when not to build parties. Sometimes odd configurations work, mind you... but I'm sorry, but if all you can find seeking are five DDers and you have to pester a non-seeking summoner to "main heal" as your sixth, you probably should have just kept seeking. Yes. Big difference. As well, a small difference in stories does not require a huge fight.

Hell, look at Star Trek, it's canon changed pretty much any time someone pointed out a mistake or contradiction, it has no problems. Stories not working together does not mean stories don't work.

So yeah, for my 3 man Seiryu (well, 4 technicall if you include the 53THF for TH), we needed a Springstone. (RDM RDM WHM)

Camped (yes, you read right) MG for around 3 fecking hours. FINALLY popped, just below 50% and I got booted ><

Internet seems fine...hmm.

A huge fight, maybe not (though they'll happen anyway, trust me -- it only takes one side being like that to start a flame war). A conflict of interoperablity, yes -- which hurts the practicality of a RP server. What's the point of squeezing all the RPers into one place if no two RPLSes are even going to be on the same page anyway -- giving people an excuse to mock us on all the regular servers? -- Pteryx

They don't have to be on the same page. They just have to get along well enough to survive, which almost every other RPG has already shown can happen just fine.

I'm going to bet that this has been mentioned before in this thread, but I'm going to mention it anyway.

Blind invites. I hate them so much!
More often than not, I'll flat out refuse blind invites. There are the odd times that I've accepted, such as when I've been waiting for an age to get a party and I'm desperate for experience. Don't get me wrong, some of those parties have been really awesome, but being awesome doesn't justify being rude. In fact, on more than one occasion, I had gotten a /tell for a party, then went to accept an invite and it was just some stupid blind inviter, and not the person who /telled me originally.

Another thing that gets under my skin sometimes: people who invite me without reading my seacom. Sometimes when levelling my Ninja I decide that I'm not going to tank. (Insane, I know, but let's be honest: Ninjas aren't any good at tanking until they get Utsusemi: Ni, and it's too much to ask to expect a low level party to have a good second provoker.) So that's when I put up my flag, type {main} {meat} {Shield}, {No thanks.}; {Fisherman} {Yes, please.} in my seacom and then go solo, usually for the whole time I'm LFP. Even with a message like that I get bombarded with invites from people who think I'm going to tank for them.

And while we're on that subject, people who whine and cry about my equipment generally tend to piss me off. I can understand if I showed up to a lvl 70+ party as a ninja wielding a staff, but I've been bitched at for bringing hand to hand weapons as a thief for a valkurm dunes party. I got crap from my party once for not having fully updated gear. (These are usually gilbuyers, who have so much money that everything seems cheap to them.) I mean, it's not enough that there are a thousand people on my server who have the exact same character model as me, but these people expect me to equip what everyone else says is acceptable as well. It's like I'm back in high school again.

So, yeah, those are some of my pet peeves.

As for RP, I actually have a few friends on Hades that used to do a little RP with me. It was fun, and we made our own little storyline. We were too busy having fun to care whether or not to treat something as real or not, it really just didn't occur to us. I also think that the fact that RP linkshells wouldn't agree about things like that have no bearing on the merits of an RP server. I think that's a great idea that SE should have added at launch.

Blind invites to me are a mere pin prick of annoyance. I just ignore them and that is usually that. It's when the person who invites then has the cojones to message me and berate me for not taking the invite...then I get "peeved". LOL
