Well, if you would be kind enough to let us know what the GM says about this problem Mithrael that would be great.

Someone over on Allahkhazam (sp? ) got through to a GM... Even though it wasn't a registering issue they stated that everyone was having problems registering the game... When he stated that he wasn't registering, that he's had the account for over two years the GM said 'Same thing, called tech tomorrow. Goodbye' and dropped....

Well that sucks. I am going to give it a few more minutes, then I am calling it a night. They need to change the announcement about the Xbox version being live though, because that certainly isn't the case if so many people are having problems.

yep there are like 5 threads on alla and official xbox forums complaining about PC/PS2 > XBOX people who can't login.

Not sure about totally new users though

I'm wondering if Xbox users have to use that data transfer in order to work. My thing is, I don't want to use that and end up messing up my current content IDs. I guess I will just have to wait until morning and give POL a call.

All that waiting and rushing to pick up a game I cannot even play. You can bet POL is going to get some unsatisifactory words from me.

I couldn't agree more. I don't get one thing. How can they launch a new expansion and launch the game on an entirely new platform and not extend customer service hours a bit. I'm not stressing or mad, it happens. I'm just disappointed, that's all.

It's not everyone btw. I have to friends who are playing from scratch, completely new accounts and got in just fine on the 360. Oh well, at least it's not the really new newbies.

This is happening to me too all i got are my 360 Beta characters and not my old ones this is so a let down.

I'm just going to call customer service tomorrow. Because its obvious this problem isn't going to be fixed tonight. Unless the Japanese players are having the same problem...though I doubt that would be the case.

This is my educated guess as to what the problem is:

The Beta Test allowed you to login using your existing valid PlayOnline ID and link your beta character to your non-beta-character ID. This meant that even though you could sign onto PlayOnline through the XBox, they had to somehow prevent you from accessing your normal character, and restrict you to the beta character. Likewise, when you log back into FFXI on your PC or PS2, they had to prevent you from being able to access your beta character.

A pattern I've noticed is that all beta characters are accessible on the XBox360, but nothing else is. No new characters, no old characters, no existing characters unless it was in the beta. See a pattern emerging here? The old beta test restrictions are still in effect that prohibit normal characters from logging in, and are still only allowing beta test characters and beta test Content ID's to play the game, but is now applying those rules to every single XBox360 and legit copy of the game across all worlds.

And for the record, the JP players are experiencing the same problem. They even have a notice posted on the JP PlayOnline site. (Whereas the English site apparently has no message at all yet.)

I may be late, but as of 10 minutes ago I'm in the game with my old character and everything. It's working now apparently.

Well thank you for the info. I didn't think about that angle, but it makes perfect sense that would cause the problem. Don't understand why considering it asked if you were a new or exisiting player when registering. But as long as they know about the problem and are addressing it, that's all that matters to me.
