God I didn't think XI would be this rewarding, I am waiting for the heavy downfall of me losing a ton of money on profit or something. I can feel it coming.

Do people even want K-clubs anymore? Can’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing one.

For your entertainment. I based my troll tactics off of Gasai Yuno, a crazy stalker of Yukiiteru from the anime Mirai Nikki (Future Diary)

    - How you deal with a stalker.

Oh hells yeah. Just got a few new things for my jobs.

    -Aluh Jambiya
    -Brawny Adargas
    -Atheling Mantle

I think I will shoot for my Twilight Cloak tonight as well. God I love this server.
Crossing my fingers in hopes my Brown Belt sold. It's running for 800k+ on Ragnarok.

If my Belt sells, then I am buying that Turbo Charger off the AH (if someone hasn't bought it yet, they sell quick. -,-)
Gonna farm more Beastmen Seals and go for the K-Club today as well when I am done farming Ardor for my DNC.

And to think I haven't even touched ToAU either for Targeting The Captain.

-Economizer Obtained (Friend just got on and mailed it) Was waiting for this for 2 days now. Finally got one now. Cheers.

I helped him farm most of his seals for his BRD/RNG and BST which is why I got the parts from him. Very nice guy too.

On a related note (since I can't actually go to that site from here at work, I'll ask you), do kitron really increase skill gain rate? I used one last night while I was doing Apple Pies (in the moderate success/best skillup range) after I ate one... and the only effect I saw was increased success. In fact, before I ate it, i was getting skill ups ever 2-3 synths for 0.1 or 0.2. After I ate it... and for the entire 30 minute duration, I succeeded every single synth... but only skilled up by 0.1 once for ever 12 or so synths I did.
    …
    …
    …
Maybe I just had a run of bad luck, but I think I'll save the other 11 Kitrons for when I'm doing synths that I just want to mass produce without the risk of failure. Stuff like top tier synths comes to mind. Mulsims, Jugs and top tier Pet food... etc.
    Off Gamerescape..
    ***
Food Effects: (30 minutes, All Races)
Increases crafting success and skill-up rate, but decreases HQ rate.
    ***
Take that with a grain of salt though. I personally can’t say for sure. I heard from Rook it does and I thought I saw it on FFXIAH comments too. But I have no real proof as far as skillups.
I can think of them being useful in 2 situations though
First - On something like Chocomilk or ‘xyz au Laits’ if you start those recipes around rock bottom. Items are cheap to buy off vendors and you’d save vs. buying various meats/eggs if you did pet food.
Second - It’s probably also better to use them on expensive synths in the upper levels. I feel like I’d rather be successful yet not skillup on a synth (making me able to sell the item) vs. skillup +.1 and break on a recipe that cost a lot.
Although that logic would probably pertain more to goldsmithing or smithing. As I hear synths can get into the 500k+ range.

If you've had a different experience with it, I'm all ears. I'll give it another shot if you think it was just bad luck.
Again…cant say I’ve seen a huge different as far as skillups. I was just paranoid about losing Apkallu eggs at the time since they were annoying to farm and upwards of 100k a stack.

PS: I try and use the directional method too. I haven't seen anything to really call "proof" but it keeps me actively engaged if nothing else. I really wish I could take more advantage of Darksday and it's supposed "HQ Compatability" but the cooking guild in Windy closes on Darksday and I only have so much inventory space to stuff with synths before I max out. I usually run out of mats by 17:00 on Darksday and end up having to sit around waiting until 5:00 the next day to buy more.

    Stupid Darksday...
Yea the directional thing is more just for peace of mind I guess. Cant tell you how many times I’ll notice im in the wrong direction, then turn and get +.1 skill and think OMG IT”S TRUE…then proceed to not get skillups on the next 10 sythns lol.

Also, I may be wrong…but I don’t think you can HQ anything until you’ve at least hit the cap. Then it’s a tier system on HQ success rate.

I never go any HQs on pet food while skilling. I did however recently get 2 HQs on Etas (after i past cap) with some leftover ingerdients i had

    Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment

Thanks, Romy. That helps a lot. It actually answers a few questions I had in regards to the rate of my skill gain.

On a related note (since I can't actually go to that site from here at work, I'll ask you), do kitron really increase skill gain rate? I used one last night while I was doing Apple Pies (in the moderate success/best skillup range) after I ate one... and the only effect I saw was increased success. After I ate it... and for the entire 30 minute duration, I succeeded every single synth... but only skilled up by 0.1 once for ever 12 or so synths I did.

I went back to record the hour's worth of synthing a chart it out... and here's what I got. It's a small parse and I'm sure it carries no validity to it... but for what it's worth:

    Before Kitron
    Time: 30 Minutes
    Attempts: 70 Synths - 62 Success - 8 Breaks - 2 HQ
    Zone: Moderate -> Success
    Gain: 8.5 total skill ups
    Ratio: 1/3.5 synths
    Support: Advanced 70/70

    After Kitron
    Time: 30 Minutes
    Attempts: 68 Synths - 68 Success - 0 Breaks - 0 HQ
    Zone: Moderate -> Success
    Gain: 1.5 total skill ups
    Ratio: 1/10.5 synths
    Support: Advanced 68/68

Maybe I just had a run of bad luck, but I think I'll save the other 11 Kitrons for when I'm doing synths that I just want to mass produce without the risk of failure. Stuff like top tier synths comes to mind. Mulsims, Jugs and top tier Pet food... etc.

    Here
Crafting Skill Ups - Gamer Escape's Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more

the top half of the page gets a little too technical for me. Maybe I’ll look into it with higher risk synths but thus far it’s been pretty cheap to hit 72. And there are a few very cheap recipes in the upper levels so I don’t mind spending the extra couple K.

at most I just try and follow the direction it suggests to face.
(yes, its probably just a superstition, but what do I have to lose?)

Bottom have I try to follow. I feel like it’s somewhat common knowledge for a crafter.

the ‘zone’ is referring to the recipe cap
so as petfood Eta as example. Caps at 69

68–69 = Redundant zone. High success, low skillups
67-68 = Success zone. Good success decent skillups
64-67 = moderate success, best for skill ups. Skills on breaks
62-64 = Difficult zone, low success, low skill up rate, no skills on breaks
61-62 = High Risk/low reward, bad success, bad skill rate.

I spam really cheap recipes regardless of level where I can, but if ones not available, I try to follow this

For instances if I weren’t a Bst, I’d probably spam Chocomilk at 70-79. But I Etas instead because I use them often.
You’d get a lot of breaks early on (pop a kitron to help) but it’s cheap.
