Me, I'll just tag along once for the title. I was tank's WHM in the fight. It was pretty chill until the last form went all voidwatch on us.

For now, my plan is to just slowly level subjobs solo.

I aby burned all my jobs to 99, but it's more fun to level with no subjob on my mule for that kind of play anyhow.

Well, I think I'm well post the point of playing for achievement these days. I'm mostly just playing because I need something to do for those days when I have nothing to do. Maybe I have Final Fantasy XI partially to blame, but I'm not good at meeting new people. And of course it's much harder to do now that I'm an adult in the working world. Others I know somehow manage to just bar hopping and walk out with entirely new circles of friends. But I could never do that.

Tried to get into other forms of gaming to get acquainted with new people. One of my real life friends is into Dota 2, like tower defenses and eSports and the like. I gave it a try, but ultimately it wasn't for me. In fact, I doubt I'll be able to socialize with anybody over video games because, for me, I find I enjoy it most as a 1-player experience. Final Fantasy XI is different because I already have a history with it. I've done a lot of the work already. I have a couple of main jobs I can bring out if anybody ever needs help for something. The way I see, I'm just the old guy coming to the community center to play Bingo. It's not glorious. But it beats sitting on my ass in a nursing home, moping about how I have nothing to do.

And a lot of people I knew from the old days are still there. And I'm not going to make the mistake I did last time of having the mindset that "Oh, these guys are just people on the other side of the computer screen. They're not really real friends." So I'll have my friends that I hang out with every so often, and I'll have my friends that I can hang out with when those other friends are not around.

I think I'll be fine if I keep it in that perspective. For now, my plan is to just slowly level subjobs solo. Figure I have a fresh clean perspective since I haven't been playing for a while. Back when I was busy grinding merits, leveling subjobs seemed painfully slow by comparison. Now seems like the best time to do so.

Finally finished Rise of the Zilart. It was 3 against 1 and there were a few too many close calls, but we managed to beat him. My friend was very lucky Flare didn't KO him (50HP), as I was stunned+bound and wouldn't have been able to Raise him. Loved the battle themes, too.

Now to work on Chains of Promathia... but with a party this time. Ultima (Weapon?) obliterated my "I can do this!" attitude with its Antimatter spam :'(

FINALLY got the Ivory Lizards to drop that obnoxious 1% drop item. I'm glad my sanity didn't leave me (that jungle music. It's... uuuurgh). Discovering the Waypoint things as well as learning what they do was also a delightful bonus. Time to finish that quest to make the OP teleports more obsolete :D
