The above was actually why I was always grateful when you said "Come Thief" because then I never would have to worry about you being perma-blinked and unhealable

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment
I don't "Main" anything, but the pimp coat is pretty good for Idling as well as most spells. There were some options that beat it for potency in nuking, but I decided the additional magic accuracy(and inventory space) was probably more valuable. It also boosts enfeeble effects by a % iirc. It was hell on my spellcast though. Idle in coat -> precast in fastcast -> back to coat would spaz out and half the time I'd finish a spell in my fastcast body so I had to tweak and add artificial delays and in some cases I ended up simply precasting in the coat so I wouldn't lose that potency.
There's probably a better way to fix the issue, but going from gear A->B->A will confuse either the game or spellcast or both so half the time you finish casting in gear B, which is the worst.

Whenever new Gear Sets came out, Red Mages could equip so many gear sets they always had access to the best bits and they still always whined about getting nothing in patches.Originally posted by Aksannyi View PostKind of sucks that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about anymore, when I was once a pretty big authority on the ways of the white, red, and black mages. I had sets within sets of gear to optimize. It was intense but fun.
Post Abyssea Squenix did actually remember that there are other Mage Classes in the game though and a lot of WHM, BLM and SMN gear is pretty insane. These are the fully upgraded AF3 sets for the Mage Classes:
BLM: Goetia Attire +2 Set - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more (Okay I don't play BLM much but Yyg is your typical "Deathwish BLM" and I've seen him pull some crazy shit when I've been around to heal him (and sober enough to keep him up and not giggle for too long the second I see him get himself killed). I don't know much about BLM gear though and what is useful so an actual BLM will have to say how much of this is good or not)
WHM: Orison Attire +2 Set - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more (Okay even I admit that this gear set is overpowered purely due to the legs and head. If you have no idea why then you really shouldn't be playing a WHM. Sure the hands and feet are macro pieces but you don't need them for healing, tanking or DD anyway. Yes WHMs can DD and off-tank now.)
RDM: Estoqueur's Armor +2 Set - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more (I see Cid maining this set a lot but then again I use Blink me Not so I can actually HEAL him so I have no idea what he is using as a macro piece or not)
SCH: Savant's Attire +2 Set - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more (You don't see SCHs that often because they become even whinier than Red Mages in Abyssea, still I've seen geared RDMs and SCHs keep up with BLms without any real effort.)
SNM: Caller's Attire +2 Set - FFXIclopedia, the Final Fantasy XI wiki - Characters, items, jobs, and more (I think Yyg needed to change his pants when he first saw these)

Pretty much my situation. Not that I really care, I haven't had to write an extensive math post in over a year.Kind of sucks that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about anymore, when I was once a pretty big authority on the ways of the white, red, and black mages. Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment
Gear options changed rather dramatically once the level cap went up, so it's understandable. I don't think anyone here has any doubts that you know the gearing for the 75 cap inside and out on your mage jobs. Stuff just changed. Some gear has retained its usefulness all the way to the 99 cap, while other pieces were swiftly outdated.Originally posted by Aksannyi View PostKind of sucks that I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about anymore, when I was once a pretty big authority on the ways of the white, red, and black mages. I'll be honest though, I never did get around to building individual accuracy, potency and mixed sets for my Red Mage. Generally I just went with a well rounded approach with a tendency to lean towards potency. The only times I put together accuracy sets were for individual spells that just needed to land like Sleep, Gravity and Bind.

Killed Proto-Omega last night with 6. The fight took about 5 minutes and dropped two Omega's Tails (for Homam shoes). So got the Apollyon Ravager title, which is kinda cool.

They're pretty bottom of the barrel as I recall. There's better options for magic accuracy as well as potency these days.Originally posted by Aksannyi View PostThey have their uses. Or at least, they used to. I'm not quite sure about that anymore.

Once you hit 90, you can +2 them. Don't know the stats offhand, but they may be useful then.

Re: Post your Best/Latest Accomplishment
Treasures of Aht Urhgan storyline completed. Now I can work on BLU without having the "finish the storylines!" nagging over my shoulder. The final battle was duo'd: I was a WHM/SCH and the Galka who helped me was a NIN/SAM (his username is also very similar to mine).
