Could this really be the class updates for CoP? (need translation)

  • Think of it this way. I like to think that metaphorically, even though in the game you can't see them, a Ninja has muliple images of itself out so yeah it would make sense for this big shock wave styled attack or magic to take them all out. But imagine a special ability thats specially designed for that. Like a Ninja sprouting so many doubles for that one hit that you can't possibly hit your target with a group spell, need something specific.

    But then, the regular shadow image comes. XD

    If its all metaphoric, I like to think of the first blink as a Ninja making doubles of himself, its slower but its wonderful backup blink. Then the second is very fast so its more like a dummy image like how Hotsuma dodges in Shinobi. Then the third one would be like described above, or something. Maybe a special shadow image that makes you blend into the background...so area attack can't find you once..like when Ninja's disguise themselves..?

    I don't know, but from a gameplay and realistic point of view, it would really be a good idea. It would solve a lot of problems SE seems to be having over implementing the next Ninjutsu line because of Utsusemi san. It would be a lot easier to implement than making this whole overcomplicated thjing with making San not cancel out one certain one, but another or something. Its simple and effective.

    But its all speculation.

    • You are right on that point, in the 100+ BCNM fights I have done, i used Cover every chance I got (especially in BCNM40).

      I have only used Cover once in an HNM fight, and that was on a Genbu fight when I gave our MainTank WAR/NIN a breather from Stomp.
      I guess the reason why Cover isn't very useful is because PLD dont have much trouble keeping hate and so if they are a secondary tank, they usually can pull with a couple quick abilities and a provoke. Also you can't cover anybody outside your Party so often times I wont be able to cover a BLM or RNG who is in the alliance.

      I guess if Cover was so often, you could use it to give the WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR a break, especially when they cast Utsusemi Ichi. Just bust out your earth staff, do cover, and stay till you are deep red. :spin:

        There still is problems with it, what's the point of having an Utsusumei that only works on AoEs and -ga spells. The normal Utsusume will still do that just it takes all your shadows instead of one, just like you are saying.

        If you are stating that the AoEs and -ga spells just ingore the shadows and hit you regardless, then the problem is switching between the different types of Utsusumei's fast enough to make the Utsusumei: San effective.

        Otherwise having that third one is kind of pointless if you have to switch between it and the regular ones. Same as it's to overpowering again if you have the regular and this third one activate at the same time. Actually because from what you seem to be intending it for if both were active it becomes even more overpowering.

        I just don't see it having a real possibility in this game for being that way.

              I was in a party with a SAM mithra who claimed she beta tested CoP on a test server said that the thf thing is false, but she seemed like she was lying about the whole thing really.

              We asked her about Bahamut and she said "I don't know because we haven't beat him" :dead:

              So.... I don't know. But she said she couldn't say much because she was under contract, so I asked if the Thf-exp thing was fact or fiction and she said "Fiction."......

              I wish Trick Attack was THF only so we could at least have a shot at the game after level 60.

              • People who think THF doesn't have a "shot at the game" after 60 hasn't seen a good post 60 thf. Dancing Edge can do great damage on EXP mobs. I've heard of 1k+ hits, although I'm not sure now if that was including the SC effect. If THF has a (second) pain period, it starts after 65/66, not 60.

                    It's not whether we suck or not, at level 60, drk's get trick attack as well and out damages us, therefore parties want them more than us is all. It's happening to multiple thiefs who are level 60-61 in 2 of my linkshells.

                        Fighter's just such an FF staple job, and it kicked so much ass in FFTA. They're both the same thing, but Fighter just sounds niftier to me than Warrior. Maybe its 8 bit theatre..

                          Trick attack on a /thf isn't half as useful as trick attack on a thf/. This is pretty well true forever, because on /thf trick attack is no damage bonus, at all, and sneak attack is only a crit. Therefore, for /thf, SATA is *only* useful for WS. Thf/, however, can do several hundred damage with just SATA alone, then do very good damage with SATA+WS. A good thf can pull up similar numbers with Dancing Edge as a rng could pull with sidewinder or slugshot. Plus, that hate is being stuck on someone who can handle it more capably than the user.
                          As for DRK/THF, like I said, subbed SATA is very underwhelming if you don't use it with a weaponskill. Plus, DRK/THF won't get that free from-the-front SATA with Hide every 5 minutes.
                          And going back to 60-65, guillotine is... well it's pretty well crap. With souleater the most I've seen out of it is about 770, and that's from the better DRKs I've partied with. Without souleater it tends to land 200-400ish on good rounds. Also, guillo can't end a lv2 chain, and it can't be any part of the (overused IMO) distortion chain that everyone loves. These are both non-issues after 65/66, however, which is why I say if thf has issues being outdone by DRK/THF, it definately doesn't start until then.

                            • THF's may do 1k+ damage with WS.... but warriors do alot more in normal attacks + WS together ( i average 600-800 with a bard in a PT at 65ish, record for rampage was 985 on a IT++ Torama.... hehehe) and DRK's are only useful if u got a good renkei going... had a PT where i was with a dRK and he only had vorpal scythe at his disposal, and he was really missing and shit:p

(I'm guessing it's not, since the site is not only official, but it doesn't seem to be a very.. 'reliable' group.) But either way, I thought I should add some stuff to Nodoka's rewording. (My change's / notes are in red)

                                New Promathia missions are added, however it takes certain conditions to get them.
                                A new ferry line connecting Muhara and Norg has been added
                                A player can now have a chocobo for him/herself, if certain conditions have been fufilled. Equipment for the chocobo is also added.
                                A player will be able to call this chocobo only from areas with a chocobo stable. Although the chocobo can run away if it is not given food periodically.

                                Merit points will now give more skill.
                                Musical instrument, dark magic, divine magic, summoning magic, a spirit of a departed person (??), and spying (??) can be raised to 30 skill more.
                                Defense system skill, Healing Magic, Enfeebling, and Enhancing can be raised to 20 in all.
                                - WAR -
                                - Ability "day FENSHIVU (Defensive? {You're right about the defensive thing, I think.} )" was newly added.
                                Day FENSHIVU ... Fixed time defense power is raised sharply and it is rate[ of evasion ]-downed.
                                - The job characteristic "a weapon cover" was newly added.
                                This allows changing weapons without resetting TP
                                -THF-
                                - Ability "training jar hunt" and "Snipe" were newly added.
                                Training jar hunt ... If the enemy is killed with the next hit, the chance an item will drop will increase.
                                Snipe ... If the enemy is killed in the next hit, exp will increase 1.5x
                                - The effect of the job characteristic "a training jar hunter" and the "training jar hunter II" came to be reflected in the log.
                                (no idea what this next part means, I think this is for white mage and black mages)�_ a white evil spirit -- a Taoist and 黒�_� -- a Taoist
                                - The job characteristic "FESHIMIRU" was newly added.
                                Hate gradually decreases.
                                In connection with it, the accumulation condition of the hate decrease is changed a little with the level difference with an enemy.

                                - {Beastmaster I think. "Brute" wasn't translated correctly. � means 'beast' (or brute..) and 使� means 'trainer' or 'tamer' (or a bunch of other stuff)} -
                                - The rate of a success of a ã?‚ã‚„ {Don't know. Something to do with commanding your pet. "to operate" or "to pull strings".} vine came to be influenced [ the attribute of a monster, and ] of the day of the week. {I think it's saying they are changing some ability Beastmasters already have to be effected by the day of the weak and what monster is currently your pet. Maybe it means that 'Sic' will now be stronger if it's done on the day your pet is strong on. Like if you make a crab sic on Watersday.}

                                - The job characteristic "a suitable distance" was newly added.
                                If distance with an enemy approaches and the rate of a hit will separate, the rate of evasion will rise, respectively.
                                - Ability "峰打�" {That means "striking with the back of the sword" } was newly added.
                                峰打� ... It is the effect of bind and Stan to an object.
                                -Ninja -
                                - Ability "the secret to bear" and "smoke screen" were newly added.
                                The secret to bear ... Increses attack speed and evasion, lowers attack and defence.
                                Smoke screen ... The rate of fixed time and evasion, and rate rise of critical evasion.
                                -DRG-
                                - Easy [ slight ability "the Grand Slam" and easy / "easy / slight /" ] were newly added.
                                Grand Slam ... Rate rise of fixed time and critical motion.
                                Easy [ slight ] ... Healing only of wyvern can be carried out. It is healing release when a battle is started.
                                - The job characteristic "proud loneliness" was newly added.
                                When wyvern dies, fixed time offensive strength and the rate of a hit rise sharply.
                                -SMN-
                                - The job characteristic "knowledge of a summons" and "the temper of smn" were newly added.
                                Knowledge of a summons ... The summons brute maintenance MP is eased. (less mp to keep out?)
                                Temper of smn ... The parameter of a summons beast rises, so that Existing MP is low.

                                New White Magic added
                                Tele Ponaji, tele Potowa, tele Pouru, tele Poroa, and new telepoints added.

                                New ancient magic, such as explosion, "in DIGU nation" (???) and Meteo. (Ooooooooooooh yea ^_^)
                                White magic, such as "KYUA", an "accelerator", and "ESUNA."

                                no idea what the last part means so I'll just paste it. I think its for SMN.
                                �_ The summons beast of five bodies was newly added. In connection with it, the new corridor has appeared in various places.
                                "KETTOSHI (nothing)", "ASHURA (flame)" {That's got to be Asura}, "TEYUPON (wind)", "FARAKU (darkness)", "Eden (light)" {Not sure on the others, but I'm sure they are summons from other Final Fantasy games. This is a list of new summons being added.}
                                �_ The new note rear SMON disease star was added to every place.
                                �_ OKUPU SMON disease stars (henceforth, OM), such as KATOBUREPASU which occupies the inside of specific area, were newly added.

                                All the players that are in the area where OM appeared can serve as a candidate for a battle, and anyone can add an attack.
                                The player moved to OM does not have penalties, such as experience value ROSUTO. " {Lol, I have no idea what all that is. Maybe an area? Sounds kinda like a new type of 'conflict' (balista type thing)}



                                Well, that's all I have to add. The translations are from a program I have (JquickTrans) since I don't know anywhere near enough Japanese to translate them myself. Also, I think when it says "Rate rise of fixed time" it means "For a fixed time ___ will rise". In other words, for a certain amount of time your ___ will be better. So it's not that you attack faster. I could be wrong though, that's just what I got. Since I can't read the original Japanese I can't say exactly what it means.

                                Anyway, I'm kinda hoping this is all true. Some of it is very cool. I always said that Dragoons should have their own 'thing', and I though critical rate would be a cool thing for them to do. So letting them raise their critical rate would be awesome.
