Could this really be the class updates for CoP? (need translation)

  • I know, I hate being a spoiled brat, its just that while the new area's are nice, character gameplay wise this is like the perfect time to put something new in. Something more than the usual monthly update can give. Its just a personal preference but to me, new things given to the jobs is more important than the new area's or equipment.

    Well, there's 23 days now to find out.

        • Were they really adding in Triple Triad into this? I've never head that before..

          Triple Triad was so much better than Tetra Master, I *may* consider playing that, but eh..maybe.

          Dragoon's getting throwing weapons, that one does seem a bit out of the blue. I always thought if Dragoon's got anything new, that it should be like the Dragon Magic that Freya got in FF9, or something slightly similar. Nothing that damages, just indirect or enhancing abilities. But subtle changes like the "phony list" would work too. Wheeling Thrust is being enhanced too, I wonder how much..

          • 1. Mini-map. The first time I ever logged into ffxi, I spent probably a good 3 or 4 minutes trying to figure out how to open up the minimap. It just seemed like such and intuitive, logical GUI item that I just couldn't believe that it wasn't there somewhere.

            2. No, SE has never said anything about including triple triad, this is just wishful thinking on my part. The thing that I really wish they'd do: add triple triad (or even tetra master) INTO ffxi. If you've got 5 minutes to kill while the paladin shakes off raise effects, you just throw down ingame with another person in your party. I would gladly pay the extra buck each month for that.

            3. /Shrug. Different people expect different things from an expansion. Some people really love exploring the new areas, others really love advancing the plot via missions, and others (like me) like adding new dimensions to the activity that consumes 75-80% of my time ingame: partying. New jobs, new abilities, new weaponskills, new weapons. These are the gameplay expansions that really appeal to me. Don't get me wrong, I was excited to read about these changes, but I've seen more expansive changes in the bi-montly updates. Here's hoping there really is more to come.

            • NINs getting slammed with that update. Now crabs will be tough for them, among many other mobs.

              PLD, on the other hand, quite a boost. Cover every 3 minutes? (|Yes, please.|) Raise at 50? Heh. Galka PLDs, that ain't for you :p

              • As far as one could guess, and in all reality the most logical deduction, is that those AOE that blink USED to stop...
                ie, weapons Whirl of rage
                scorpions crazy dance thingy
                Orc and Yagudo AOE thingy.

                All those that seem to be physical and damage dealing... THAT will remove blink.

                Things such as say poison from flies/crawlers, the cursed sphere of flies, bubble shower from crabs, things that utsusemi doesn't block will not remove blink.

                That's what i'm guessing, and sincerely hope it to be.

                • Well since I have both a DRG and a PLD character at my disposal I am reaping all the rewards, certainly with PLD but not quite sure with DRG.

                  I want Wheeling Thrust to be so overpowered that when PLDs see "Using (Wheeling Thrust) on <t>!" they immediately get ready to Cover.
                  And I also want the throwing weapons to have short delays and gain us a lot of TP so we can start Penta spamming again.

                  Wishfull thinking but DRGs deserve it after all this hate.

                    Just in-case you arn't aware. That update posted was the regular monthly updates, the last part talking about the CoP was trying to remind the babies that they arn't done yet. So just hold on they got more coming.

                    Minimap I guess would be ok, but the Compass with Player/Pet/Mob indications are fine enough I think. Not like switching to the map is that hard, and it adds a bit more of that subtle realizm IMO. Not something I'm going to be heartbroken over if they never make it available.

                    The Utsusumei though it was negated by -ga spells if I remember right, they just added now that AoE attacks negate it as well. So the Flies "Cursed Sphere", Weapons "Whirl of Rage", Goblin's "Bombs", etc.. will all negate it that actually makes more sense then just losing 1 but also places Utsusumei back in the classical design in suit to previous FF games.

                    I don't think they were hating the DRGs but preparing them for upcoming changes they had planned. Though it is obvious that DRGs are not intended to be insainly strong alone, with the DRGs AF and the abilities they were doing it seems more that they were trying to make DRG and Wyvern be a duo entity. More like they were trying to make the two reliant on eachother.

                    So not really a BST with his dispossable pets, or a SMN with free will of use on Summons. Something more of a hybrid of these two jobs

                    • Cover? Hardly much use in most HNM battles. It becomes a useful tool for leveling.
                      And Raise at 50? I think S-E likes mocking us -_-. PLDs still don't have their own unique spell. ;_; I guess raise is useful if in a party setup if it is ALMOST party wipe.
                      Both these changes seem more angled towards leveling up to 75 and not @ 75. Funny thing is that PLD leveling wasn't much of a problem.

                      I was hoping that S-E would improve the PLD and NOT nerf NIN/WAR and WAR/NINs in the NM/HNM scene. The blink thing put a whole new spin on things for NIN/WARs and WAR/NINs. It certianly makes certain NMs like Serket alot harder to hold/solo.
                      I have really enjoyed PLD, but when a WAR/NIN or NIN/WAR can make the battle so much easier, it makes it a bit frustrating.

                      But you know, S-E does seem to be taking an active effort to balance the jobs. Alot has changed for Jobs like DRG & SMN. Hopefully other jobs will recieve similar treatment.

                        I don't know about leveling up to 75. I say the changes are prep work for whats coming in the next updates. As for Cover it's a very nice skill to use for players with frail defense. I actually had a much easier time in the BCNM with the PLD Covering me, giving the PLD a chance to do that more often I would have to say "Yes Please!!!"

                        • I'm a tiny bit peeved by the AOE blink thing but not too much really.

                          But I just had an idea, what if they're doing that to make room for Utsusemi San? Maybe instead of more shadows, Utsusemi San is a special blink dedicated just for AOE's and ga spells, but not regular hits.

                          So..

                          Utsusemi Ichi: 3 Shadows, but not AOE or -ga.

                          Utsusemi Ni: 4 Shadows, but not AOE or -ga

                          Utsusemi San: Blocks AOE or -ga, but not regular hits like Ni/Ichi.

                          It would kind of make sense..it would certainly solve the dilemna of Ninja's having an overkill amount of shadows with three blinks and finally allow SE to put in the San line. You have 1 and 2 for general hit purposes, then San for special cases that require something to block area attacks and spells. You wouldn't need to use it all the time but damn would it be useful.

                          Asthetically it would make sense too. The first and simplest spell is slowest, brings out some image dummies. Second one is like, the more advanced version of the first with more efficient image dummies combined with the first. Then the third is the more technical one that would be like Naruto letting loose hundreds of images, just so they can absorb that area spell.

                              Depending on how you view it might. But Utsusumei basically means Dark Duplicate, so a shadow copy. Makes sense then that any area effecting attacks would negate them.

                                I hope you're right. If it's any AoE attack, then Ninja becomes a more undesireable tanking class.
